  1. After 19 years of being an IT tech and then NM I have decided to take early retirement and say goodbye to Education and IT! I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone on here for their continued support over the years - it has been invaluable, your expertise and advice has been a life saver on many occasion! I'm off now to enjoy the grandchildren, walk the dog and not have the stress of the network crashing! Good luck to you all. Tracey x
  2. I just wanted to say a big thank you for everyone who responded, especially over the weekend! The new equipment was a red herring! I tried swapping the network cable, switching the new equipment off, connection a laptop to the router but all to no avail. Interestingly the phones (VOIP) and Team Viewer would connect. Spent over an hour on the phone to Schools Broadband support and eventually they found a change had been made their end... Persistance and not being fobbed off worked on this occasion and our Internet is back up in time for exams download. I can now breathe a sigh of relief and relax into (semi) retirement!
  3. I contacted them on Friday and they’re supposed to be getting back to me. The connection to the school is okay though… I’m just hoping they know who has installed the equipment and why!
  4. No we don’t use the Smoothwall box anymore. We’re with Schools Broadband so everything filtering/firewall is offsite. I’m going in tomorrow and hopefully plugging a network cable into the router will resolve the issue. Otherwise I’m not sure what to do and who to contact…
  5. I’m connected from home. Not managed to get in school yet. SBB have been contacted but the connection to school is okay. Our account manager is on holiday so not one seems to know who arranged for BT to go in.
  6. It was working apparently so I presumed the yellow network cable is going into the router. I’m not on site until Monday though to check.
  7. Hi everyone Just when I thought I'd retired our Internet connection decides to go down! Our technician was onsite today and rang me to say there was no Internet connection whole site. After further digging it appears that a BT engineer has been onsite over the holidays (without our knowledge or permission Premises just let him in) and installed a new FSP 150-GE102Pro which has a red light on the Access port. I presume this is where the issue lies but have no idea what to do to resolve it, our technician has already tried a reboot. I'm presuming it was installed as part of our broadband upgrade and have contacted Schools Broadband but we've had no prior warning of this happening and haven't heard back from them yet. I've go no idea who to contact at BT as we've never dealt with them. I can connect to the school network via my home VPN so the connection into the school is okay. We can also browse the network. With GCSE downloads next week this is rather urgent and any help/advice would be gratefully recieved. Thanks
  8. Hi I have decided the time has come for early retirement so if anyone is interested in a Network Manager role in an Leicestershire academy the job spec can be found here: https://www.tmbs.leics.sch.uk/News/Vacancies/
  9. Hi Anyone else having issues with Netweeper this afternoon? When browsing Google we get a red Deceptive site ahead block page. Have raised it with Schools Broadband but not resolved yet. Thanks

  12. I reported it this morning. They said they'd only had one other report and that turned out to be a WiFi issue and when the Chromebook was connected to a hotspot on their phone it resolved it. Unfortunately we'd powerwashed all the Chromebooks that had the issue so couldn't troubleshoot with them. They've asked us to video the issue next time and send logs. It seems to be more a profile issue for us??
  13. This has become more widespread for us. Yesterday it was one or two students in the same OU, today we've got staff and students from different OUs. Anyone know what's causing it?
  14. Hi We're having issues with students logging into Chromebooks which seems a little bizarre - is anyone else having issues today? Students can log into the Chromebook, it allows them on to our student homepage (Google Site), when they try and access any Google App from here it loads a blank screen and on occasions asks them to log in again and goes into a loop. This only happens for Google Apps they can browse all other websites. So far it is only happening on Chromebooks in our SEN OU, if we log in as an Admin user or Teststudent everything works as normal. When the affected students log into a Chromebook from a different OU everything works as normal. As a workaround powerwashing the Chromebooks resolves the issue - I don't want to have to powerwash 300 Chromebooks though... Any ideas? Thanks
