• Central MAT ICT technician role, with real career and skill development potential • Work from home base with regular trips, mostly across Midlands and London Head office, all expenses paid. • Be the first port of call for schools based IT and SLT staff, working alongside other senior’s and systems and cloud managers in the central team. • No two days would be the same! • 34-36 days leave inc. bank hols – CAN be taken during term time. • LGPS • A proper hybrid role, giving the best of both worlds. This medium sized Multi Academy Trust, with most schools across the midlands, has a central team supporting remotely, a range of windows, o365 and cloud technologies to 1st and 2nd line level. Using your experience of supporting users in schools, you will have a good understanding of the challenges and technologies and will be able to put that to good use, remotely, whist developing your core infrastructure and cloud knowledge. (systems supported includes SCCM, AD, Group Policy, networking, o365, Intune, Google workspace, MIS’ etc) This is a role definitely requires some travel depending on the time of year and a car driver is a must, for instance this could be to occasionally step in to cover IT onsite vacancies, visit the London head office to support/upgrade their infrastructure, or take the technical lead in project work onsite at any of their schools. This is a great role for someone who wants to work within a centralised IT model, but not in a managed service. For someone who is ready to move on from the day to day basic level IT requests onsite staff have to deal with and have genuine career progression from the one school setting. Initial interviews will be teams based, with a face to face in London. get in touch asao for more ino

Afternoon EduGeekers, I know a few of us make use of Guacamole for remote connection into the building. We made great use of it for a quick remote access solution during lockdown when we had 64 computers in our IT suite not being used in the building, so just fired 1 staff member explicitly to 1 of these machines. Now that we're kind of some in school, some out of school with only a few spare machines that I've now plugged in in our server room, I need to create a pool instead of a direct computer connection. Does anyone know if it's possible with Guacamole to set up a connection pool with these 4 PCs in so that I present this pool to our staff. I'm wanting them to click onto the pool and it just go to a free computer (A) then the next person clicks the pool and it goes to another computer (B) if A is already in use. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

We have systems that allow us to deploy software to computers while they're connected to our network, but is there any way / any system (not SCCM or Intune though because we don't have those) that would allow us to deploy software to college owned computers over the Internet? Basically for situations where staff or students working remotely say "oh I need X piece of software but this laptop hasn't got it". Any suggestions / recommendations?

When I bring up the Direct Access panel in settings, it says connecting under the connection name but goes no further than that. It is definitely not working as I cannot open any networked drives etc. There are no errors on the remote management tool on Server 2012. Any suggestions for troubleshooting this issue will be much appreciated! Thanks a bunch .
