We're currently having issues with our staff being sent encrypted Word documents by Birmingham City Council which we are unable to access. When we open the email a code is sent which is used to access the email, however, the document cannot be opened using the online version of Office and has to be downloaded. When trying to open the document we're prompted to login with an Office 365 account (as per their documentation) which we do, however, we then get the below error. I've attempted to speak with their helpdesk (as it's clearly a BCC issue) and they're unable to help as I don't have a BCC network ID which apparently they require to log a ticket. I was told I should get in contact with our contact at BCC who can log it on our behalf, however, according to our business manager (who has been at the school for over 20 years) we've never had an IT contact at the council. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hi guys, currently running office 2016 and we are looking to upgrade the onsite computers to 2019 so they better integrate with office 365 remote students. Just got a couple of issues with it currently. we have a couple hundred computers so this will take a good amount of time to do manually. I have looked at trying to go to file accounts then update in office products but I do not have an option for this so I have a feeling I can not easily update it like this. I can only imagine two really to have it done via the network and auto rollout or I will have to manually do each computers uninstall and then the installation of 2019. So the couple questions I have are. Is there a way to auto deploy a rollout of office 2019 to install over the top of 2016 or will it have to be manual uninstall and re install of the newer version? Or is there another option? Also does it impact roaming profiles in any ways since that is the profile type that we currently use for these computers? Things like smart ink not working in office is one thing I have seen may not work Thanks for any assistance!

I'm looking to standardise the version of Office we use across all school in my MAT. Just curious now that 2019 is out are people planning to follow that upgrade path or are you now looking at moving to ProPlus?

Hi everyone, I'm having a bit of an odd one here. I'm attempting to download the latest version of Office 2019 using the Office Deployment Tool and an XML file created by Microsoft's online Office Configuration Tool (using that tool to rule out any potential issues with my own XML files) Office 2019 does download, but there seem to be some files missing in the Data folder after the process is done. I've tested on 2 different computers on 2 different internet connections and I get the same issue. Inside the Data folder, there is the usual V64.cab and V64_version_number.cab files. Inside the Version_number folder, there's only i640 and s640 cab files and stream.x64.x-none.dat files. Looking at an older version, in addition to those files there's also stream.x64.en-us.dat, stream.x64.af-za.proof.dat and a few more cab files. (The proof file is Afrikaans language proofing tools) If I try and install the latest version of 2019 using the downloaded files, the install fails as its missing the above dat and cab files. Copying those files from the older install set to the latest doesn't work as there is a version mismatch. Does anyone know if something's wrong with the Microsoft Office CDN or something? I've been remiss in not downloading updates more frequently over the last 18 months but I find it weird that there is this issue now. Time is limited, but I may try downloading Office 2021 and see what happens. I know 2019 goes out of support in October, but that shouldn't stop the files from being properly distributed. We don't have a license for 2021 or 2024 yet, so we have to use 2019 for the moment.

Hi, We've noticed since the latest Office update (12th Nov 24) staff have been experiencing issues with Word and Outlook. This causes word to throw up pop-ups about macros etc when opening word, and Outlook giving errors and not sending emails (stuck in outbox). When send/receive is run it fails. We've not found anything else online supporting this bug so wondering if anyone else has been faced with it? We're going through the process of removing 2019 and installing 2021 on machines affected but they're coming in thick and fast. Windows 10 64-bit Microsoft Office 2019 version 16.0.10416.20007 Anyone else experiencing Office 2019 issues since last update? Thanks!

All. For our Office 2016 setup, I'd configured Office (via the admin tool) to automatically setup and/or add H:\Outlook\PersonalFolders.pst. This is/was to get round our mailboxes being extremely titchy. Before implementing this, users were then going on and creating their own PSTs - usually in the C: drive, and crying when PCs were nuked. I'm now trying to create the same in Office 2019 - and I am jiggered if I can find how you do it using the config webpage. I know I can force the PST location - but that's not what I want. I need it to automatically add (or create) H:\Outlook\PersonalFolders.pst Am I missing something really obvious? Using the search field for "PST" only shows a few options - none of which are helpful. I found some PS script that appears to allow me to auto-add an existing PST file - but that's not what I need. I'd prefer to have Office do it for me, like 2016. Put me out of my misery, please?

I was looking forward to a LTSC 2019, Edge and office 2019 setup but it seems I'm mistaken... I wanted a no frills static windows with the edge browser (as it mostly follows ie11 queues) and an office that would last 3 plus years.. The LTSC is crippled, No edge and you can't have it, office 2019 has a new cryptic run, install, deploy.. I don't have federated services or SCCM, I don't have the resources to implement and learn these tools. I don't want gotyas every 6 months because M$ decided that 5 billion users are doing it wrong.

I've been "tasked" with looking at rolling out Office 2019 across the estate. I did 2016 a few years back, but people do want the shiny shiny. Lordy lord, but it looks a bum ache in terms of the sheer number of options that can be lumped into the XML. I've looked at the Office config webpage, and there's about a billion options of features that sound like they need tweaked. Does anyone have a working XML they might be willing to offer up? I'm assuming most of the options we did for 2016 are still valid - EG things like switching off the Social network integration. Cheers, Gerard

Ok, so using the power of Microsoft Speech Recognition services, Office 365s word, PowerPoint and outlook have this new dictate feature... Not Office 2019 Also "onenote windows 10" pllllp. The onenote requires a Microsoft account This is quite annoying as I was hoping to use this for some of our SEN pupils. I'm thinking that I'm not allowed to install o365 on the school PCs as although the pupils have their licence it doesn't cover this use case. so plop.

Hi, My school is currently using Office 2013 so we are due an upgrade! It makes sense to skip 2016 and move straight to 2019 but this year we intend to use Office 365 as well (Mainly for Email). I intended to install Office 2019 on our Desktop machines and configure Outlook to use their Office 365 Mailbox. I'd also like to introduce One Drive. Can I configure our Desktop computers (with Office 2019 installed) to access One Drive data plus files saved to a local network drive? Ideally I'd install Office application using Office 2019 and configure Outlook to use O365 and Staff and Pupils can use the online versions of 365 from Home. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Office 2019 apps can't access the internet when a user is using direct access. The upshot is that all the office apps take an age to start or access anything. so if your offline office is fast, if your at work office is fast and internet available, if you are home connected to private internet and have disconnected direct access the office is fast and internet available, if you are home and connect to private internet and have direct access ON then office takes an age to start and can't get online. This is annoying, office can see the internet connection and tries to fetch internet assets but can't so it takes an age to time out... Anyone have any ideas? Using the online pictures is how I know things are going wrong with office. EDIT: Direct access is configured to get the internet access locally NOT through direct access.

I have only a few office GPO settings applied to my pupils but something is stopping these online features from working. I'm sure that the filtering isn't an issue for the icon import as it displays the URL in the error and the pupil can get to the icon via EDGE just fine. The "Online Pictures" (with Bing) just says an error occurred, the event log isn't tripped. Bing does get caught up by the swgfl filtering on occasion. The same PC is fine when a staff are using it but they have different filtering and USER GPOs. (so the install isn't flawed) Anyone hazard a guess as to why this is so? GPOs settings set are user customisations and first items run are disabled. That's it. it could be a non-office GPO as well. EDIT: it's not the SWGFL as it still works using pupil filtering with staff, so a GPO of some sort?
