1. If you have a decent desk already that can disassembled then the flexispot frames are a great option at only £150ish. https://www.amazon.co.uk/FLEXISPOT-Adjustable-Electric-Two-Stage-Automatic/dp/B07HFZP1Q3?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1 We fitted these on all of our desks in the office, solid frame and the single motor version can handle up to 70kg which is plenty.
2. I'm really hoping it's just a rebrand/relaunch of the product as we have been using these for years as standard in all our schools. Here is an alternative I've been pointed to by a supplier. https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/69966421-24EC-47DD-9E32-5DF70876D3DD?ingress=2&visitId=aa7a5be3-f8e4-4dda-97b0-a683c26adc89&ref_=ast_bln they are at a similar price point the the MS option and have a USB-C version which is nice.
3. Interesting to see who the contractor is on the tender award. "FUJITSU SERVICES LTD" awarded just under a month before they decided to no longer bid for public sector contracts.
4. I find copliot/Bing Chat really useful. I just wish they removed the 4000 character and 30 reply limits, these really limit it's practical use. Also the fact that the "chats" aren't persistent is a real downside versus GTP-4. I had it explained to me at an event recently, the reason why full copilot will be so expensive is because they will essentially train the LLM on your M365 estate. This is needed so that all of this cross application functionality and context driven AI they are talking about is possible. This takes a huge amount of resources.
5. Yes, they had clubs using their sports hall all summer. It highlighted that they hadn't calculated the energy costs correctly for the rent. This is how they define always on. "What is Always-on or Standby consumption?Always-on or Standby Power is defined as the lowest power measured within the last 2 days. This is the consumption of appliances that are never switched off." Getting that as low as possible is also an aim, finding what is contibuting significantly to that amount is the challenge. We are considering adding more CT clamps so we can go down to the circuit level data.
6. We are currently piloting an energy monitor system at one of our schools so we can measure the impact of various cost saving practices vs their effort. Originally I was thinking similar to yourself in that there would be some easy wins in terms of usage reduction but once you see the overall usage it does kind of put things into perspective... Here's a graph of our usage since we installed it in July at a 2 form entry primary. We are still trying things and I'm happy to share our results once we are done. The hardware is called Smappee
7. You need to use the "Available for enrolled devices" assignment for it to show in company portal. You can use "requires install" and "available for" in conjunction, those apps then display a message saying it is required by the org.
8. The Nominet account should let you set the name servers (see screenshot)
9. Is it actually hosting your need or just a domain registrar? The free option is to create a MAT Nominet account and then get all the .sch.uk addresses transferred to that, there is no renewal cost for .sch.uk addresses. Then you can use whatever DNS host you want (we use AWS).
10. If you are working with a large volume of new devices you can also ask your vendor for a clean image to be installed on them and then they are shipped like that, pre-registered on autopilot and ready to go out of the box.
11. Call plan will give you a number and enable external calling but this is the most expensive licencing option. We went with operator connect, which works out the same price as other hosted SIP solutions. Direct routing is also an option.
12. It's done with Dial Plans in Teams Admin, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/create-and-manage-dial-plans each handset/user has an external number so what you are doing is creating translation rules. For example 101 dials +44123456789 etc. You can then assign these dial plans to groups or users.
13. I think it's a device only policy, I have mine deployed to device groups. Otherwise, looks the same.
14. We have this exact same setup. It's the shared PC mode that is disabling OneDrive, Microsoft say this is the intended behaviour. You need the following Configuration Profile assigned to those devices to 'fix' it. Custom Policy Windows 10 and later OMA-URI Settings

DisableOneDriveFileSync ./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/System/DisableOneDriveFileSync 0

MDMWinsOverGP ./Device/Vendor/MSFT/Policy/Config/ControlPolicyConflict/MDMWinsOverGP 1

15. That might be the issue, it will be waiting for an assigned Azure AD user to sign in before applying anything. If you assign to the device it will do at the next check-in, or you could run a manual sync from the profile of the device in intune. EDIT* I'm assuming you have just logged in with a local admin account.
