Thanks for your reply. The apps (the Microsoft 365 suite and some other educational apps) worked quite well, although perhaps we haven't tested them enough yet. I would expect their lifespan to be shorter than that of iPads, but ideally we'd be looking for them to last around 3 to 4 years. They will all be in rugged cases, so the worry is battery longevity.

It still doesn't make any difference to us whether the cost is paid upfront or spread over time.

Due to the recent iPad price rises, that were already slightly out of our reach before the increase (and a potential 1:1 device deployment across primary and secondary schools), we started looking at Android tablets (1/2 price of an iPad). Not an easy decision, as we already have 500+ Intune managed iPads, but schools can't afford them moving forward. Intune Android management with the Microsoft Managed Home Screen app seems to be working well. It's easy to lock down devices, supports Microsoft 365 account authentication, and offers single sign-on, although that can be a bit hit and miss. Not really an issue on 1:1 devices, but it can be more problematic in a shared device setup. We chose Lenovo Tab K11 Gen 2 model because the specification and price is reasonable and it supports palm rejection. Is anyone using Android tablets at a larger scale? How have you found them? Is anyone using the Lenovo Tab K11 Gen 2? What is the battery life like after few months of usage? Experience with Lenovo devices lifespan and reliability? Thanks

No charge to move them into your account. One-off £10 per transaction when changing registrar. But I believe you can select multiple domains and still pay just £10 in total when moving them over.

Warm Regards, .………………… Miss/Mrs/Ms/ [headteacher's name] Headteacher SCHOOL ADDRESS 3. Nominet will contact schools to confirm the transfer and will ask for headteachers proof of ID, 4. once above is done, you will see domains in your nominet dashboard 5. From Nominet dashboard, you can change registrar (nameserver?) to e.g. cloudflare, namecheap etc. - I haven't done this part yet and will speak to Nominet before I make any further changes but I can see all transferred domains in my Nominet dashboard/portal. Currently, some have LEA IT Services, some namecheap, some cloudflare as registrars. Hope this helps

Ah ok, that makes sense now. My domains say their registrars are either LEA IT service or Namecheap (namecheap doesn't actually support this) - and not Nominet! That's why I can't see nameservers button on Nominet dashboard. Don't know why Nominet didn't say that when I was enquiring about this!

So I believe, I do need a registrar that supports sch.uk domains. I cannot manage DNS records and which nameservers to point to on Nominet but I can change registrars (& registrants etc). And the rest (managing DNS records) should follow...

Ah great, I use Cloudflare (personal use) and didn't know they support sch.uk. - - - Updated - - - Thanks, we have MAT account with Nominet and we have taken over our domains, just need to find DNS host to manage it from - just not all the mainstream ones are supporting sch.uk hence the question

Our local LEA ICT services are charging £90+/year to host sch.uk domain. We no longer use them but would like to keep them if we can find a cheap host. As a MAT with over 20 domain names, the cost is quickly adding up and we are looking to move away from the current DNS service host. Who are you using and how much does it cost you? Hello, We are going through procurement process to get 10 MFDs/Copiers for 9 Primary Schools. We went directly to * Kyocera * Ricoh * Konica Minolta * Sharp * Riso (very expensive, in some cases 4x more) So far, Ricoh is the cheapest, but I wonder if anyone else has any experience with them? good devices? support? installation process?
