How many schools have shut not because it's particularly bad weather wise, but because it'd decimate their attendance stats and HMI would start getting interested? I suspect many! There's always a good percentage of parents/pupils that won't make the journey if there's a hard frost, let alone 2cm of snow!

Hilarious that there's so many huffy and precious teachers at our West London Independent today. How dare they be asked to travel into work when they majority of public transport is working fine. Dare I see social media has seen their state school colleagues sharing pics with their feet up and they've all become a bit jealous.

Even if our school 'closed'...support staff would be expected in anyway. Not impressed that some schools seem to wave the white flag so easily thus setting the wrong example to pupils. Taxpayers money wasted too.

working from home today, our Cardiff sites were shut because of the red weather warning in effect, I didn't venture to the office after seeing a forecast from Cardiff where it was coming down heavy by the castle, still supporting our sites though around the country though remotely

It's been snowing sparse tiny flakes here for the last hour or so. Looking out of my window, most of it seems to be travelling horizontally (and occasionally upwards) because of the wind.

There are still a few remaining patches of frozen snow from a couple of days ago, but I can't see it having much of an impact here.

round here there has been no snow to speak of

roads are clear (even side roads) - just some remaining snow on gardens etc

one of the local secondary school has closed due to both boilers failing - other than that all school seem to be open

Barely any snow (1cm on monday) on the north west coast but weather app says feels like -9 outside. I don't recall it being that cold in the day ever.

Just been told that all staff have been authorised to leave as soon as possible after end of school at 3:25 today :)

We've had a similar notification. Some of us in IT finish at 4pm, the others finish at 5pm - We're all leaving just after 3pm instead!

Feels like -9 here too.

Yesterday morning’s actual -8 felt a lot colder. I should have looked up the “feels like”

Snow here is 4-5” and some drifts too. All local schools shut - including my visits and the kids. But main roads fine now so could be back open tomorrow. Unless we get more snow. Very windy tho.
