About just_david

  1. kicking myself now for not writing down more details and grabbing some pics while i had it, i just wanted the damn thing out of my house.
  2. thanks folks, i'll contact the local schools tomorrow.
  3. Hi Folks, Long time since I've worked in schools or posted here. just got a bit of a weird non it issue and wasn't quite sure if I'm overthinking it or should just let it drop. Found a kids phone as i was walking the dog, luckily managed to re unite it with it's owner. 14 year old lad, probably 1 of 2 local schools he'd be in. But it was slathered in Nazi and Bristol city nazi fan club stickers. think BC 88 hardcore fans and SS skulls and helmets. problem is I only have a name and age, is that even enough to bother reporting to those schools? Misses is telling me to drop it, if i'd found it in school i sure as hell wouldn't have, but then i'd of known the kid or his details.
  4. It's so warm today its burning right away. Last night i could understand why schools closed, but today i woke up and all the roads and pavements are clear
  5. about 3 inches here, not too bad and roads pretty much clear unlike earlier this month. Oddly, this time no-ones bothered to clear snow from thier pavements this time, last time everyone was out. I can see ice being a bigger problem this time round
  6. damn snow, i can't be bothered with this fluffy white b******t, i have stuff to do this weekend. The worst of it is, my fridge is empty, so i genuinly have to brave the panic buyers again to get food. freekin soft as s***e southerners >.>
  7. I've used clevertouch with both smart, activ inspire and its own Lynx - which is now compatable with smart notebook files. Also used smart - expensive but good quality, and avocor - cheep but nothing special. I was never a fan of the built in PC's, they just seemed expensive, if you really want something small and out the way use some intel NUC's and tie wraps. Money no object I'd take either the Promethian or the smart boards, but being more sensible with money I'd definitly recomend the clevertouch and lynx (the teachers seem to love it, far moreso than smart of activ inspire).
  8. Sounds like an issue I've had in the past - ended up being the network connection dropping momentarily and not reconnecting in time to display the desktop. Is the server share set to auto reconnect?
  9. I think some of the countries that got rid of pennies still have the .99p pricing, they just round it after the shop is completed. I'd be happy to see pennies and 99p pricing go thought tbh. just round everything to the nearest 00 and do away with coins I have almost lilterally started throwing away
  10. I'm not sure what my weigh in is, but i can now take off my jeans without undoing the buttons on my jeans and my elasticated old man work trousers (sooo comfy) now need a belt. The flu truely is the best wieghtlosss tool
  11. I think thats the thing most people forget when they rant about the chaos. This was a what, 1 in 10 - 1 in 20 year event? Most countries struggle with those events. Only here, because the weather is so mild, do we expect to be able to keep going no matter what happens.
  12. had snow here heavily all day. My nieghbour is a genius, he's got the local kids playing a game of who can build the biggest pile of snow. Al our drives are completely clear so far, and they've been doing a good job of keeping the road clear

  15. I think its the spectre and meltdown patches. It has an effect on all intel pc's the older the pc the worse effected they seem to be. Also hits windows 7 harder than 10. Apparantly there will be future updates that lower the performance effect. https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/microsoftsecure/2018/01/09/understanding-the-performance-impact-of-spectre-and-meltdown-mitigations-on-windows-systems/
