  1. Super unlikely. Chipset drivers might though.
  2. I've had similar, where it worked fine when not loading drivers. Turned out to be the trackpad drivers. Can you remove them?
  3. Yeah, tower. Only takes one fall from that height to wish you'd been using a tower instead (while rapidly descending). If you can't keep three points of contact it's just not safe - and I've done some sketchy ladder climbs (away from work).
  4. Yeah, went through that last year when I finally moved to proper Apple IDs synced to our accounts. I just waited for the timeout as there was other stuff I could do (no point getting stressed over that). It worked fine afterwards.
  5. It absolutely could be used for that - that looks like a vehicle cloning checklist, with an organisation where any tickets and penalties could be lost in the system for months (where the police have to confirm who was driving etc). Don't give them the plates.
  6. We use Shared iPads, so we have them tied to Apple School and JAMF. We have to buy a license for each user (that will use the app) and assign it.
  7. Printing, for the same reason, is one of ours. Next is decent filtering (can we use our own Smoothwall? No one knows).
  8. The warning signs have been there for a few years now - most have got out. Shame that they took a great product and nerfed it, but isn't that the trend? You also have Proxmox as an option, but I haven't used it as we started using Hyper-V back in 2012 or so and it does the job (at reasonable cost).
  9. We have a lot of AMD kit (laptops and desktops, 5 to 2 years old), only tiny thing we've encountered is some driver issues when using a large central dump of drivers in our MDT. Imaged with no additional drivers, fine. Intune, fine. Performance and reliability wise, grand. My office PC is a 5th gen Ryzen Pro and I like it a lot.
  10. I think it’s just me left with it (2024 pushed it via GPO and targeted at 2021 machines). I’ll keep it until the deadline because I still get users angry that it’s going (another today!) Not my fault it’s being retired, nor my problem!
  11. I was at an event when phones starting blaring, and we got four alerts - Welsh and English for flood then fire risk. Possible someone got a bit keen with the first one. Thoroughly irritating, and I left my phone in the car after that.
  12. Yeah mine would complete, even join AD or Intune, but would then break after updating drivers from Windows Update. Without drivers from MDT they would work fine even after Windows Updates.
  13. Can you disable the MDT driver stores before imaging? I have some laptops (Lenovo E595 G1) that thoroughly soil themselves when imaged with MDT and anything other than the bare OS for drivers. Installing from a USB stick works, via MDT with the stores enabled and they crash repeatedly.
  14. I think I already added it to the Intune kill list. Junk running in the background annoys the hell out of me.
  15. Thick or thin imaging? This used to be an issue in the old days of imaging with Ghost and failing to sysprep properly. Didn’t have issues with thin images, and have now ditched WSUS as it was a bloody nightmare in the end.
  16. Yes, we do. So first name would be Mr S, then Display Name would be ‘Mr S Smith - English’ If I put first names in there my sensitive parts would become jewellery.
  17. You’re going to need to ask on a busy car forum like Pistonheads or Reddit (or Facebook if feeling brave). It’s quite a niche question!
  18. Bait<-->switch
  19. We bought a small set of iPads to fulfil that role. Has worked okay, but they are heavily used and we don’t have enough!
  20. “Bijou city microhome with excellent ventilation.” Then sell it to someone in London.
  21. Something like Xibo? It’s overkill but can call up webpages on schedule and they’re not iframes.
  22. Yay. i will be keeping our current infrastructure running, pared back, for just such an eventuality. Those paid enough to make decisions like this inevitably get promoted out of harm’s way, or ‘head-hunted’ out of the organisation, then vilified by those left.
  23. The symphony of a B-Series powered BL car struggling to start in the heat as the fuel vaporises in the carb(s). Until the battery dies. Like Mozart but with more unburnt fuel.
  24. Ha! Password1 is too complex! I made sure to override those annoying Microsoft password policies - that way I can make sure that my passwords are the same as the usernames - that way I'll never forget them and they're super secure too!
