The Net2 application likes to just silently quit sometimes. Usually when I need to do something quickly! the IPv4 issue is with the intercom units. If we don’t disable IPv4 on them, they will frequently crash and reboot. Learned about this from colleagues at other schools. i disable IPv4 in the intercom management software when I do an upgrade, then they work fine.

The Welsh curriculum kind of specifies it! Oh well, three more years.

This is a bit like trying to print a video - you’re taking something interactive and trying to get a snapshot of it. Other than grabbing the source and manipulating it (could be tricky with javascript elements) I think you just have to screenshot it, adding each menu as you open it as layer in your image editor.

Yup. I've had a CA here for years, but only a couple of years ago did I shift our internal sites to https and cert them up. If you're more skilled than I am, you can do it with Let's Encrypt and make things much easier. I only use that for our external services though. I've seen no suggestion that 12.5.8 contains any security fixes - only the cert updates, but Apple aren't that transparent. Assume that they're still EoL!

It’s not necessarily priority, just mandated staffing. Schools are generally required to provide extra-curricular sport, but not other activities. There’s a list of reasons why that’s the case - but physical activity is a universal need for a healthy lifestyle.

Sometimes/usually(?), the PE staff are contracted to run sports clubs - it’s part of their job. Other clubs are mostly voluntary and that member of staff may have left/died/become allergic to photos/decided they hate giving up their time.

It wasn’t painful at all. I’m a big fan of Hyper-V for its simplicity, resilience and functionality so it never bit me back making the change.

It did it a few years back. Two ESXi hosts, slowly migrated to Hyper-V. I converted some of the VMs with disk2vhd, then converted them to Gen 2. No issues. i don’t miss ESXi, mainly because if there was a power blip and the UPS played up it would kill the hypervisor install and I’d have to quickly reinstall it. That wasn’t really a fault of the OS.

It's difficult with Apple, but that marked 4 1/2 years of OS support. I'd normally advise 5, so EOL would reasonably be September 2023 when iOS 17 came out.

It unsets the redirection and changes the registry entries directly. You wouldn't need to do these on a new machine, but if logging onto an existing profile this will switch it over (or, it should).

I’m on this path currently. I have a set of GPOs which allow me to smoothly switch between the two for some test users - the GPOs have inheritance blocked so that I can completely separate them. I have not gone the route of moving the content - that’s left to the users - so their H: drive is still mapped to the server, but Onedrive for their Documents, Desktop etc. Plan is to move everyone (staff) across this summer, after extensive testing. It’s going fine.

AFAIK there's no English International version for server versions of the OS - you just add the language pack afterwards to fix the spellings, date formats, and other US-based localisations.

There’s been a real push from the public and the motoring press about everyday controls being available with tactile, non-touchscreen controls. Heater, volume control, some adjustments in the cabin. Mk 8 Golf was the most obvious one - VW had to backtrack some controls on the .5 facelift. Manufacturers like putting it all in software because it’s cheaper. When does that ever translate to better?
