  1. Mmmhmm. That's also an era that I've seen some real clangers too, though it's all a scale and varies across brands, models, and engines (that's the period that dips into wet belt Ecoboost and PureTech). Time will tell really.
  2. For Gen Y and older, we grew up with our parents having crap cars. Carb fed, rusty, miserable BL and Ford dross that was dependant on a prayer, Easy Start and a knackered battery holding a steady 11.5v. Now - old cars are those made 20 years ago, and they are what is starting to be referred to as 'peak car'. Reliable, simple(ish), well built. This may not last as those fade away...
  3. 🤯
  4. Due to ESU and LTSB/C, I'd leave Windows 10 alone for now.
  5. I'm only getting a 9.8kB stub. My MDT download is an old one, so would be good to update it if I need to rebuild!
  6. *Plugs head firmly into nearest sand*
  7. Is it properly enabled in the BIOS? I doubt it needs a particular IRQ assignment but that’s a classic issue from the past. Does it show in Device Manager?
  8. en-GB for ADML but don't think en_GB exist for ADMX.

    HA HA RAM

Reckon the inflation will trickle down to 1GB sticks of DDR2? I still have far too many of those. I’m sure they’ll be useful for…something?

    HA HA RAM

Yeah my RAM hoarding tendencies don't look quite so much like a mental illness now! Perhaps I should have saved the hundreds of 4GB sticks of DDR3 that we chucked out in summer, but meh.

    HA HA RAM

Our 8GB equipped staff laptops have a single slot, so 16GB+ sticks only... I think I'll do without and they'll have to manage!
  12. Depending on your environment and use case, they shouldn't be able to install anything. However, browsers often install in the user profile so may get through more of your restrictions - I block users from downloading executables too. I have not had any users need a second browser for redundancy - that'd usually be Chrome, and if it doesn't work in Edge it's unlikely to work in Chrome!
  13. Radius, VPN, internal SSL for intranet, server auth certificates… Best thing to do is a rundown, server by server, of what you use. Look at the certs local store on each one via the cert management snap-in. You can even try deleting one (they’re easy enough to put back) to test the effects. i imagine some schools have progressed enough that their CA does nothing now. I know if I turned ours off I’d quickly be up a creak with no propulsion.
  14. The certificate on the web portal that allows them to change the status is probably the same one that's disappeared.
  15. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/file-server/enable-insecure-guest-logons-smb2-and-smb3?tabs=group-policy What's the share hosted on?

    Jamf Users

We use iPads in Shared Mode, enrolled in Jamf. My users are synced from M365 in ASM, but no classes. My process was cumbersome, thankfully I only did 8: You'll surely get a process slicker than mine, especially if your iPads are already in ASM!
  17. That's been the policy for longer than we've had ChromeOS devices - the upgrade license is tied to the device - it doesn't free up when that's retired. Bit of a shame, and can have a fair financial knock-on effect, but well known.
  18. I've made thousands of cards with RFID chips through our IDP Smart 50. Only thing that has damaged the printer was a stuck cleaning strip; the cards are fine.
  19. Glad there'll be plenty for me to watch and enjoy on U & Yesterday
  20. I have something like 270 tokens to recycle; ain't nobody got time for that. Yeah it seems to be part of Salamander's process. Our fix makes sense and seems to work though. Edit: just tried your process for some clashes (sixth form students) and it works great. That'll allow us to gain a few more tokens back.
  21. That will happen if it doesn't check-in with KMS.
  22. Hmmm. Are they attached to the thin metal backplate, but that comes off the LCD panel via the front? I've seen similar and it looks like you remove the panel from within that complete frame.
  23. ^^Also, because she's logging on with a personal account she'll have to log in to Office periodically with her work account, and Onedrive may get very confusing if that's installed on top too.
  24. Check your setup XML and also your license activation. I've seen similar, and I had to push the KMS client key as part of the install.
  25. Salamander is updated. I think I'll have to call them, I've had no reply to my email. Joy! Edit: Okay, some resolution. Paxton couldn't help here - they say it's an API issue (we're on a newish version too). Contacted Salamander who have now set up another step in the config to delete the tokens when a user is removed, then a one-time clean-up to go through and purge the tokens from deleted users. The users will probably remain but that's not an issue.
