  1. Yup, it got approved pretty quickly. I think some of the relevant emails hit our filtering and quarantine.
  2. Contracts are for you to pay them money, silly! Now pay them money, and I want you to at least look grateful. Can you price up alternatives to the modules as an add-in? Competitors may be able to undercut the price for the functionality.
  3. I don't reckon your system will be a particular bottleneck for that card, at least not a significant one. Certainly things have moved on and it's old, but why not try the graphics card alone first and potentially save a fortune?
  4. Enjoyed the break too much. Do not want to be here.
  5. See the below. Computer Configuration --> Policies --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> Windows Update --> Manage end user experience (that's in the 25H2 ADMX, it will differ in earlier ones)
  6. Your Group Policy settings aren't complete then - GP can auto-schedule updates, install and restart PCs. It's in the Computer Configuration settings.
  7. You just switch your Group Policies over from WSUS to WUfB and turn off your WSUS server. Even with WSUS, you should never have needed to manually update them - Group Policy allows you control this. Agreed. Poxy server needed constant maintenance.
  8. It worked! Taken ages to get this host working ready for migrations. Some things are simpler today, some not (*stares at SET and vswitch naming*)
  9. It could be a pig of a job. I'm building a 'new' server today, and sticking 2025 on it is not proving to be easy or quick...I'm now trying via 2022 and that involved having no video output on boot.
  10. Oh wow, okay that's a major undertaking but credit to you for going in fresh. Many schools doing that now are going for cloud hosted instead. I think you've hit the basics. How are you migrating any online services like M365/Google? You want uptime and low maintenance - re-evaluate your backup strategies, consider having the old server online as a replica or spare host, and test everything twice!
  11. This is true. I spent many years of my youth at car auctions with smokey old bangers running leaded fuel, but I don't think it did too much dirigible.
  12. Do this in a well ventilated space - melting platic can give off some nasty fumes!
  13. Okay. Do you have onsite DCs? Do you use iSCSI connections? Have you migrated any services like Entra Connect Sync?
  14. A new host? How have you built it, side-by-side with the old one but with the same services? How are you migrating them, or is it complete replacement?
  15. Very much doubt it, with how the digital age of consent is 13. https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/uk-gdpr-guidance-and-resources/childrens-information/children-and-the-uk-gdpr/what-are-the-rules-about-an-iss-and-consent/
  16. We used to run displayswitch /clone on logon which saved a lot of these calls, but that could interfere with mult-screen setups. Now we rely on their common sense to switch it themselves. This is not going well.
  17. That's similar to JB Weld isn't it? When used correctly, you can do some ridiculous repairs with this stuff.
  18. Yes. We bought a small number of iPads for the jobs that phones did and added them to our Jamf setup. Not been able to get my head around any sort of effective Android MDM - ChromeOS is so much better for it.
  19. Yeah we've been avoiding removing the store since the early days of 10. It works fine for staff and we Applocker it for students.
  20. Remember the early days of Windos 10 and our customised WIMs and scripts? This is what we were after all those years ago (like 10+).
  21. Jokes aside, it sounds like he was a great bloke.
  22. I barely scratched GTA V due to time constraints - completed the story and did a bit more, but always felt there was more fun to be had. Now I'm in a position where I don't own any platform it'll be released on and don't have the time to play it. Shame, as I've played the majority of them since the first one.
  23. IIRC SIMS doesn't need the mapped drive, it's just wherever you happen to have SIMS.ini and certain paramters set. You should be able to do without it, unless you users regularly need access to the files in the SIMS directory. To use localy hosted SIMS itself you'd still need a VPN offsite anyway.
  24. Damn, we don't pass the threshold number.
  25. Only bought Mac Minis and one Air recently, not opened any of them. Pleased that they did that.
