BOO!! (You all know the rest.) Hi, everyone. I just wanted to drop in to wish you all a very happy summer. Sorry I disappeared without warning. Despite regularly advising people to seek support if they are struggling with their mental health - you guessed it - I didn’t follow my own advice. I’d been struggling for several years following a change in school leadership (for reasons I won’t go into) and ended up having a breakdown last January. Only then did I seek help. I’ll be honest, things got worse before they started to get better, but I managed to get myself well enough to begin a phased return last summer. I coped much better than I thought I would until, 2 weeks into the autumn term, I caught COVID and it wiped me out for months. By Christmas, I was still struggling even to walk my dog to the park just down the road without getting short of breath, and I needed to sleep several times each day. I started to recover in mid-January but, by this time, the thought of going back to the school was becoming unbearable - so I didn’t. But things happen for a reason. After 15 years on the same grade at school, I landed a leadership role in the Civil Service. It’s not an IT role, but the start of a whole new career (in my 50s!). I’m working with a great team in a great environment. I’m trusted to manage my own flexible working hours, and can work 40% from home. I feel valued, respected and supported - something I hadn’t experienced at school for a long time So it’s onwards and upwards for me. I want to thank you all for your help, support, camaraderie and friendship over the years. I wouldn’t have lasted half as long without Edugeek. I want to give a special shout out to @VeryPC_Mark, who went above and beyond to support me through the dark times, both professionally and personally. I had something similar happen a while back. I can't remember the exact details, but it turned out that the app was in Mosyle but under a different name, which is why I couldn't find it at first.

They also now own Edublocks - a halfway-house from Scratch to Python, developed by a kid from Preston when he was 12 to help his mates learn coding.* (*Or something like that.)

And those who have to move back to SIMS from Arbor due to becoming part of a MAT. (True story!)

I know this might sound a bit daft but have you checked the actual plug? We've had problems with our iPad trolleys in the past when people have tried to wheel them away while they were still plugged into the mains, loosening the wires inside the plug. Cue sparks flying and mains tripping when they were plugged back in. Just a thought.

As the title says, some pupils have been changing the Safari backgound on shared iPads. It's usually been pretty patterns, but there's also one kids mugshot. It's only a matter of time before somebody changes it to something inappropriate. I know it's a classroom management issue, but does anyone know if there's a technical solution? I've had a look through the restrictions in Mosyle but can't see anything.

Ah, then perhaps they are expecting it to work in the same way as it does with schools in their LA. If they want you to access the resource, they will need to add you to the tenant as an external user - as stated in the error message.

Does your LA provide email addresses to you or other schools? We used to have issues when we first moved away from LA provision as they just expected things to just carry on working as before. Of course, it didn't because our new email addresses were no longer in their tenancy.

In the past, I would have always recommended NEOS based in Worcester. Sadly, they went out of business at the start of this year. However, Lee has started up his own training business - Illuminate Skills - so I'd suggest you give him a shout.

Yep. I did that on our DfE Dell laptops over half-term. They only have a 64GB drive and I still had to leave it running overnight!

I had both COVID and flu together last year... then caught COVID a few days later before the anti-bodies had fully got to work. I'm due both again, but have had neither yet as I was ill at the time of my appointment.
