witch Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 We have around 5cm - bit less than last time but it isnt settling on hard surfaces properly either. It is snowing quite heavily too

I looked like The Snowman on a hot date by the time we got there. Was surprised to see a heavier covering than last time when I got up. More due later - fingers crossed for another snow day!

just_david Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 about 3 inches here, not too bad and roads pretty much clear unlike earlier this month. Oddly, this time no-ones bothered to clear snow from thier pavements this time, last time everyone was out. I can see ice being a bigger problem this time round

The roads aren't too bad, but pavements and walkways are lethal and despite work to clear the site, the freezing temperatures tonight have made it too dangerous. I made the journey back home to be close to work before knowing we were shut, but best to be prepared!
AJWhite1970 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Late start for us today with lessons starting at 10:30 with all school trips cancelled and sporting fixtures postponed. Another 2" of snow overnight which then froze, the main roads are ok, all other roads aren't good with rural buses not running....

We have had more overnight too. No snow day though, sadly, as most roads are fine. Carpark/playground is a sheet of ice though and the head is out there with a shovel. But the road outside is far worse as it is a very small residential road and hasnt been gritted.

One SLT member said it will be fine around the school, no SLT have made it in yet. So dangerous and no worse than the last time.

Whilst the snow was worse near home, I'm guessing it's not as bad as last time near school. Late opening presumably to allow those living in more rural areas time to make it in safely. My route was only poor in our close and on the school grounds.

witch Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 But no ££££££s! That's true - but he's not prepared to go the whole distance. The ice is melting here but there is a nasty wind and it is absolutely bitterly cold....Just thinking ahead to walking the dog..brrrrrr
