Yeah, they still look for that location and if offline files have been turned off then anyone that had it working will no longer work if removed. I had to do something when i turned of a folder redirection before but was a long time ago. If you right click documents/downloads/desktop on a affected user and goto properties, in locations it should say where its trying to load it from. If you do just disable the GPO it wont revert back to local locations. You have to have a active policy telling it to revert back. Would need to set it back to redirect to local user profile. Also make sure profiles arnt set on users in active directory as this could still put it on the server. The other way is, disable the folder redirection GPO, make sure profile not set in AD then clear all profiles on the laptop so it has to recreate. Users will loose anything they saved onto the computer in their local profile if you clear the profiles. Have you considered setting up a gateway/remote server? Folder redirection means that all their work is saved onto the server where it can be backed up, saving on the laptop means if the laptop dies then the data on it goes to. Our users get the error you showed unless they connect to our servers remotely. Also means apart from their username, there will be not documents stored on the laptop for when they loose them,.

It will do this. If you have folder redirection enabled then it will always look for the server for desktop etc. local doesnt exist. You need to either, enable offline files (Dont like to do this these days) Setup a VPN, or setup some sort of remote session using a gateway that forwards to a remote server they can loginto.

We have, Students are loving it. We removed the online servers and have a local server in school. Just a old server i took out the scrap pile. Weve installed a few mods which prevented any arguments. Not yet used it as a educational resource, you can get educator mods which allows teacher to setup protected areas , teleport etc. Weve also got the 3d armor, have tweaked the wood chestplate so they dont take damage from other players. Hi, Checked our backups today and Windows server backup is now showing as 1 recovery point from yesterday. I have other backups using another piece of software but this is my easy backup as its all local. Last nights backup only transferred 20GB so its not a full server refresh where it copied 100's GB. Cant seem to find a reason why it would have deleted all previous backups. Bit worrying if we were to rely on this single backup resource. It did have about 40+ backups on my last check. The backup location has 30% free space on it. Anyway to check what happened.

Yeah, GDPR, im still trying to secure funding for a centrally managed encryption service. Even though no documents are stored on the laptops you obviously have username and basic details. +It will stop people accessing windows without the drive password. The key thing ive always looked for with encryption is that it regulary reports back to say the laptop is still encrypted. This way if they lose a laptop when you report you can show it last connect on this date and it was still encrypted. Better than saying it was encrypted 3 years ago and should still be encrypted.

Personally i dread the day when they start phasing out new petrol cars. Even stopping production of manuals. I love driving a car with some noise to it with a proper manual gearbox. Having said that i dont think i will ever buy a new car from the last 10 years. They are all horrible looking. Give me a up to late 1990's car any day. Ive always had offline files setup so they can use laptops at home. Weve recently changed it up though, no offline files and they have to use our remote service. They login to their laptop at home using normal network username but everything is blank as it doesnt have server access. They then remote in. Means we can monitor everything to. Downside is that they have to have internet access. Upside is no documents are stored on the laptop as everything is redirected.

WOuld do the same these days to. Had to recover a VM before using the built in backup tools. So easy to do. (obvs not really for DC but for everything else) With newer servers you can also replicated domain controller using hyper v and its supported. Get an old machine and stick server/hyperv on and start replicating. If you ever have to use it, it wont be fast but will keep you going.

Hi, Been asked to create a copy of one file for every student renaming the file to their name. Gotta do this for multiple files and dont like the though of spending hours copying and pasting names and then do it again next year. Has anyone got a CMD script using robocopy or similar? If not, think im gonna need a FOR, Robocopy and an awake mind to work it out. Thanks.

With ipv6 disabled it still did the reset thing about 10 times, it then found a ip it liked. DHCP overwrite a few address that were in use by other computers and given out by dhcp with BAD ADDRESS.

Will give it a go. Last try on friday and it seemed to be trying to use a ipv6 address. Our dhcp doesn't have this setup. Weird how it sends all the IPv4 addresses into BAD Addresses.

Current one we have is the Netgear EX2700 before we tried the TP-LINK TL-WA850RE The TP links have always worked for us but they are older models. Connecting to a Ruckus system.

Hi, We have been using wireless extender around the school for thing like boilers etc that need a wired connection but too far away to run to. We just purchased two more form different brands and having the same issue with both. Ive joined to the wireless network and can access from my computer using the dhcp address. However, when i connect any of our windows 10 laptops though the wire the adapter in windows keeps disconnection and never receives an IP. Connecting the extenders through wireless gives no DHCP either. With the extenders plugged in and devices connected to them the DHCP server fills up with BAD ADDRESS accross the entire range in the scope. Any ideas?

Have a dell T620 with a H310 raid card installed. Its never been turned on since i got here, its giving the error: HWC2003 BP1 SAS B Signal cable or interconnect failure It looks like the cable to the backplate is in for data but there are two further connectors on the card labelled: UART SAS Act LED Looks like it could be one of these causing the error. The problem is i cant see anywhere for these on the MB or backplate to connect to. Anyone had a Dell server (T620 or similar) and RAID card, can you tell me where its supposed to go? Edit: Ok, need more sleep. The b slot on the backplate doesnt have a cable. Not planning on using it but cant seem to find a way to disable it yet.
