If you shop at Tesco or bank with Lloyds you may be able to get Disney through them (not the top tier). I'm sure there are other places that you can do the same. Apple seem to regularly do freebies, particularly for newbies.

I think that, for Potterheads, the appeal may be to see bits that were (generally understandably) cut from the movies like Hermione forming SPEW.

I think HBO are also hoping they'll make a lot of money from the show, too. Whatever people think about her views, JKR probably did more to get children reading during Peak Potter than any government initiative.

23 000 Lives (Netflix) A young German man wants to help the migrants who are dying trying to cross the Mediterranean to get to a safer country. He sets up a charity and manages to buy a boat. He and his crew set out to try and save as many as they can, but face many obstacles. Based on real events*, this tells a very important story but falls a bit flat. Possibly the structure: , while sticking to the actual timeline, doesn't help. Still, it's inspiring to see someone taking action instead of watching from afar. If you want a "true story" film about migrants on boats I'd say Netflix's own The Swimmers is a much better movie.

Two films featuring shipping containers being used for bad things. The Marked Woman (Netflix) When an amnesiac woman is found horribly tortured in a container a damaged cop is put on the case. Along with the cop named in the prologue as a bad 'un. OK Spanish thriller. Mutiny (Cinema) Jason Statham plays yet another ex-military, ex-cop (I'm sure these films use the same photo of him in police uniform) who goes after the men who killed his surrogate father. Bit of a minor Statham. It's a Sky Movies production so if you're interested I'd wait for it to show up there.

I was only wondering the other day if this character had been "retired". Not that there weren't a couple of amusing bits in the trailer, but how does SBC get away with this?

Six of Crows: A Darker Shore by Leigh Bardugo Set after the Crows duology this tells it's story via minutes of a council meeting and letters between Kaz and Inez (and there are hidden communications). One for fans of the Crows only, this is kinda expensive for a short story but it's beautifully packaged and well worth it if you are a fan.

Long military style coat (this was a bargain too good to pass on so I haven't got rid of its still serviceable predecessor). Pea coat with removable inner collar. Leather blazer. Linen blazer. Seersucker blazer. Brocade long "dressing up" coat. Another long "dressing up" coat with metal and pleather bits (sadly the fake leather needs repair). Leather biker style from may years ago that I can't bear to say goodbye to. Dayglo orange "oil rig" type coat inherited from my dad for the foulest of weathers. Couple of free festie hoodies that I treat more as jumpers. I'm guessing we're not including waistcoats. Pair of ankle boots (lace with side zip for speed) as my daily wear. A pair of biker style boots (plus replacements for both the above bought on offer). Leather sliders. Croc style (both the above for quick trips into the garden). Leather sandals. Slippers (plus replacements bought on offer). A pair of shoes that I haven't worn for years just in case there is somewhere they are necessary. Wellies. Also a leather Australian "stockman" style hat for most of the year and a straw Panama for the hot weather.

Ride or Die (Prime Video) Fun buddy action comedy with Hannah Waaddingham as an assassin and Octavia Spencer as her oblivious best bud. I'd be happy to watch a second season but wouldn't cry if it didn't happen. Ghosts (Australia) (iPlayer) Better than the trailer made in look but only seen the first ep. This seems to be trying to steal Doc Martin's "UK show most remade in other territories" crown. As well as this and the fairly well known US version there are also French, German and Greek versions. For some reason the German one doesn't have a WWII officer. Lanterns (HBO Max) Really surprised at how good the first ep was. Can't wait to find out what happened between 2016 and 2026 and what will happen next.

Bridge of Storms by Philip Reeve The sequel to Thunder City sees the survivors attempting to get by as adventurers for hire. They're hired to set up protection for the city of Musieon but things soon get far more complicated. Another fun romp from Mr Reeve that includes a couple of laugh out loud jokes. So far I've enjoyed this prequel series far more that the Fever Crumb books.

I.S.S. (Sky Movies recording and currently on Netflix for a few more days) The crew of the I.S.S. see what appears to be nuclear war start on the Earth. Before communication is lost the two nations receive the same order, but who will follow the orders. Surprisingly good space-set thriller that feels pretty authentic. Worth a look. The Choral (Sky Movies but it's a BBC film so will turn up there at some stage) IIRC some swearing in trailer. 1916. A severely war-depleted mill choir takes on a new choirmaster who used to work in Germany... One of those films the British film industry can make in its sleep. Well acted and produced, though there are a couple of curious choices. Not the greatest thing ever but a solidly made movie that's worth a look if the trailer intrigues.

Venom: The Last Dance (Sky Movies recording, on Netflix soon) The final Venom movie is clearly a labour of love from Tom Hardy, who came up with some of the story as well as exec producing (and starring). Unfortunately it's merely passable. This time around a hitherto unmentioned Big Bad is after some sort of Cosmic Key that Eddie/Venom carries so that he can turn the universe to darkness. If either half of the symbiote dies it's game over. A supposedly evil military guy is happy to take out either but is thwarted, leaving it up to Venom to turn heroic. I couldn't help but think that had he just shot Eddie there would have been far fewer lives lost and a lot less property damage.

I'm using it for patch management but haven't noticed the remote support! Does it do unattended, though? Seems to!
