  1. Hi All We are looking at implementing some automated measures to maintain availability. For example if a disk is getting full a monitoring alert will remove pre defined files. If an Access point goes offline, then it will automatically reboot etc.. Anyone had any success with this? Regards
  2. Does anyone use Gridstore as provided by LGFL? Believe this is a version of Attix 5? We presently use Arcserve UDP of which has been a reliable solution overall. However we are looking at the longer term with an open mind and have a 'bundled in' potential backup solution that we are going to investigate.
  3. A few from a recent trip to Halifax with my partner. The game was postponed but a great time was had anyway.
  4. My brother...at long last has cancelled his SKY TV package. As well as Netflix etc. He's a dad of 2 and is really feeling the pinch. I've always lived fairly frugally and have not found the increase in costs to be too bad. Not bought myself any camera kit this year and no expensive holidays. Luckily my GF knows loads of people in the Scots Islands and thus a bargain is had every time. Also...not bought a single clothing item unless it was reduced.
  5. Hi all . Thinking of the next step of my IT PM armory. Seems that waterfall methods are slowly but surely being phased out of IT projects and being replaced by more AGILE methods. Any Scrum masters or AGILE Practitioners here? If so has it benefitted your school projects in any way? Cheers
  6. Hi All Our existing ADT PC's are coming to the end of their lifecycle. They are Dell Precision T1700's i5 4th Gen 16Gb RAM. Really looking for something with 32Gb (upgradable to 64), latest i5/i7 CPU and a GPU capable of running the updated version of Blender, Adobe CS etc. What are others using in their ADT labs at present and any recommendations for purchase? Regards Adam
  7. Hi all Am getting the error below (click it to be able to read it) when trying to install to a client. Its been stuck on 'install active' for a good few hours now. Can usually either reinstall the solus client or remove completely and push out from scratch. When trying to action anything am getting the msg "Agent install must be allowed to run for at least 30 minutes before it can be cancelled" yet its been a lot longer than 30 minutes. Any ideas? cheers.
  8. Thanks for this We have generally been advised that it doesn't work on Chrome. This was probably information from a few years ago that's become ingrained into the culture here! The install process for us has been to temporarily elevate the user to an administrator, install the ESigner software as the user, reboot, connect the reader and card and then ensure we click YES to the certificate install. I believe in our environment, not elevating the user blocked the certificate install dialogue from appearing. The trusted sites are provided by a GPO. Will have a look at the Chrome extension. Does Chrome by default inherit the trusted sites from IE??
  9. Hi All We use Barclays online banking and the pinpad to gain access. The portal and login process has only ever worked with Internet Explorer. Recently, they have been sending us information regarding moving over to Edge as the preferred browser of choice. Stating that IE will no longer be supported. However! The actual sites within Edge need to be ran in IE mode for the actual login process to work correctly though! This means adding the URL's in the 'ie mode' settings (of which last for 31 days). Does seem though that these settings are not 'sticking' even though the sites are listed for the user. Anyone else having grief with this? Regards
  10. Hi all We've hit a problem in the last year or so where certain Android 12 mobile devices are not able to log into our guest network. The problem is that these connections now need a privately generated certificate I believe. In previous versions you could simply choose to 'not validate' certificates. We run a Ruckus Smartzone application based system which has generally served us well. Cheers.
  11. Lovely sunrise on Tuesday morning. Taken with Nikon D7500, 16-85mm AF-S, images captured in RAW and postprocessed in Lightroom.
  12. Thanks for all the feedback. Yes, little Green Button (The BIG Green button version) looks promising. Awaiting a call with one of their sales team. Can it send an sms or is is purely app based?
  13. Hi MAVHC Sending = School network. Receiving = School network and Cell Network. We are looking at around 10 users at present. Alert by SMS or APP (via data) Not all in school wifi range but phone should default to cell data. Reliability has to be high. cheers
  14. Hi All We're looking at implementing the following: Physical button to be able to alert relevant staff to a situation in reception. This to convey an instant message either to an app or text message. We've looked at 'pager' systems of which will struggle to work in a large old building. Also at higher end products such as 'Digital Alert' which will do 'panic button to text' may just be too elaborate for our situation. Does anyone on here have a working solution for this? Cheers
  15. Probably this video here. Explains how to easily inject drivers into your WIM. Will give this a go. I suppose you can in theory put as many drivers as possible into your .wim? This can allow you to use it with different models etc. Just how intelligent is the installation process when it comes to selecting the correct driver? I guess it may get it wrong and you could end up with problems? You can even 'export' all installed drivers via powershell and then use these to inject to the .wim The only problem here is that it will export absolutely everything including the stuff that is already on the installation media. Probably better off only using the drivers you actually need.
  16. Out of interest can I 'inject' drivers into a standard Windows 10 USB install media??? Have heard of mounting the ISO using DISM and then injecting relevant drivers into the ISO.
  17. Yes...I think in this case, its probably worth just getting on with the standard install. Regarding drivers, it would appear that the automatic installation of drivers appears to have changed about a fortnight ago? Unless any polices has specifically been configured, was usually the case that Windows 10 would start automatically adding drivers regardless of whether you had initiated W/U or not? Appears now that any drivers are now in the 'optional' updates and need to be manually agreed to. A bit of a pain if you ask me. Must be a setting somewhere to drag them down without needing to literally tick every box.
  18. Lack of onsite infrastructure. Is literally an all cloud with desktop PC's environment.
  19. Hi all Are there any recommended 3rd party deploy tools suitable for a small-medium size environment? We literally just want to deploy W10 via a USB stick (have a surplus of fast USB3 16Gb modules) but obviously want to streamline the process and get rid of all the 'home install' options. Being able to slipstream drivers and Windows Updates desirable too. Environment doesn't justify WDS etc. Most of their other software is cloud based. Cheers
  20. Startech has generally been reliable for us too. Whenever you are mixing new and old....there will always be a compromise.
  21. Hi all We've got an HDMI cable run of around 15m to complete. Yes we can get a very decent quality copper lead but I've generally set reliability at 10m. I know there are HDMI over Cat 5 converters but I've also seen HDMI - fibre - HDMI leads on sale. Has anyone every used any of these and any recommendations? cheers
  22. Another brilliant character gone. Used to find it hilarious when he got things so badly wrong. Yet...it just suited his delivery. I remember him most fondly during the Nigel Mansell era where its pretty safe to say our Nigel didn't have the best of luck at times. Often leading until the last lap until his car let him down. Murray would often excitedly be awaiting our man to be roaring around the last corner to the finish line.....then there would be a pause....then a "any second now he will be here".....then the camera would switch to discover Mansell broken down on the grass and throwing himself out of the car in anger "OHHHH NOOOOO! NIGEL MANSELL HAS FALLEN ON THE VERY LAST LAP!!!"
  23. Agreed the rush to get everyone back seems a little Ill thought out. Just another month would have totally flattened the rate whilst only costing a few weeks of school. However it is what it is and I suspect it will spread quite heavily in schools due to a general feeling that we are out of this. Guards are down already and I've seen plenty walking about minus masks. With those who are 95%+ of covid deaths now offered the vaccine or vaccinated, we should now at least feel safer as a society for now.
  24. So the great divide has started taking place at my place of work. Those who are refusing to even consent to LF testing because it 'feels odd' or for various other reasons. Now the prospect of some unwilling to share an area with those refusing to take tests. Doesn't surprise me really when it comes to the self responsibility aspect of our society.
  25. For once.....I have total empathy with politicians. Yes they are starting to play politics with covid but never before have they been on the spot like this and effectively reliant on scientists who don't really know the answer. In fact they have been providing conflicting information from start to finish. But yes the confusion is unsettling and the disruption to family life starting to take its toll on everyone's patience.
