Hi all, A school I support have asked me about dataloggers - they used to have some physical dataloggers that were ancient and wondered if there is a more modern version or maybe an iPad app that can do the same things? I'm not aware of anything so figure I'd ask around! Cheers

Looking for recommendations for any companies that will come in to do asset management for Schools - we provide third party ICT Support for a number of Schools and they are looking for a company who could come in either annually or semi annually and audit/document all of their on site assets. Does anyone else use any companies like this? Cheers

Very happy with Redstor just wasn't too happy with the price.. however, we have since gone direct to Redstor (great guys) and turns out the local authority add an extortionate amount on for 'maintenance'.

Been given some prices for a laptop for a Teacher. We usually use Stone but they’ve come in more expensive this time. The two with the most competitive price are. Lenovo v15 ASUS vivobook 15 x1500ea Both with 5 year warranty. Does anyone have any experience with either (or both would be amazing) to be able to recommend one over the other? Spec is the same. Not sure on what it’s like claiming on the warranty for either though! Cheers

Hi all, Looking for recommendations for an online backup solution. We have been forced to use Redstor for our main server which does the MIS (SIMS) and key files from network shares. Now we are free I'm looking to see what are the best options out there. Cheers

If you use Basic folder redirection and "Create a folder for each user under the root path" and disable "Grant the user exclusive rights" this stops the folders being renamed "My Documents", folders are listed as their username.

Hi all, How do you guys convert .exe to .msi for GPO deployment? Is there any free software that will do this? I have used Advanced Installer in the past but the paid version costs a fortune. Cheers

Hi all, The head has asked me to look into getting some library software. We currently use Junior Librarian but it is locally installed on a laptop and is very very old. I have looked at renewing this and getting the more modern version but I cant actually find who I renew with as it seems to be intertwined with Capita. What do your Schools use for this? We use Accelerated Reader so any ways it can tie in to that would be great. Cheers

Hi all, One of the schools that I support are being bombarded by phishing scams and they have been caught out twice now. Does anybody use an Office365 filtering system at all? A quick google search brought up Barracuda but I’m wondering if anyone could recommend a filtering system to block all of these phishing scams. Cheers

Hi all, Currently looking at different options for backup. Currently we don't have anything in place for file level restoration. The Head insisted it wasnt needed and as such, we have now lost some pupil's coursework. I have now been given the go ahead to look into getting a backup solution to prevent something like this happening again. As usual, the cheaper the better. We have 6 sites all pointing to a virtual file server hosted by the Local Authority. I was looking at the possibility of having incremental backups onto a NAS box locally at one or a couple of the sites but wasn't sure which software to use for this. Or is there any cheap cloud solutions that would work in this scenario? We have 6 sites so there is A LOT of data that needs backing up. We would potentially look at only backing up Student data if the cost seems too much. Cheers
