  1. We never bother with the PDF step, since we take the raw SIMS cover html file and update it on the fly to display on our intranet, but that file is only ever as up to date as when the person in charge of cover updates it. I assume you either arrange the cover, or they liaise with you so you only update the details once the cover is set in stone?
  2. Yes that is a bit of an issue, since the cover lessons do not actually get added to a teachers timetable that can be exported, as the cover module sits on top of it. Think the only way to get a list of cover out of SIMS is via the html export route which can be quite messy depending how each school uses it (for example our staff use the cover system for any re-roomed classes due to exams).
  3. Hopefully Disco ends up on somewhere other than Pluto for the next season, as it's a real pain to have to remember to be sat there on the 3 evenings they have it on and no way to pause it... like being stuck in the days before VHS/Betamax tapes
  4. Was going to ask if you had any 365 integration with your Bromcom setup. You can use powershell to remove images which you could put into a loop for everyone once you've updated the sync to stop sending photos (which should only appear on the tenancy and not externally) Remove-UserPhoto -Identity [email protected] -Confirm:$False
  5. Likewise saw Eternals, and had a bit of a hard time keeping Game of Thrones from my mind what with the actors and character names... never mind the last end credit scene. Overall found it reasonable as a popcorn movie but nothing to rave about

    Padlocks

Going for the Key at least allows copies to be made and kept safe if required. Combination locks can often be opened faster with a red bull can than with the code

    Padlocks

Lockpicking Lawyer is a YouTuber who is a lawyer in real life in the US and picks lots of locks, and shows how easy it is to bypass them. Padlocks that rely on a RFID or fingerprint to open them, can be easily bypassed by using a strong magnet to trigger the solenoid to open it, so depending what you want to use them for, you would be just as well getting cheaper keyed padlocks that might need a tool to open more than a magnet if someone was so inclined.
  8. I have a scheduled task on most of the servers to do this. It's a Basic task that runs Powershell.exe, with the additional arguments restart-computer -Force I set the trigger to be once only at a specific time, and then alter the date I want it to run based on when I've applied the patches.
  9. Didn't the show runners say they tried to add more of the feel of the later books into the series to add the additional layers which not in first ones. Not read the books but did watch the series
  10. Yep it was on their knowledge base last time I checked, but it's often the same for any service thats using a MAC as part of the activation method as they were often designed for physical servers in mind more so than Virtual machines where details could change (plus you might need to migrate it to another box due to hardware failure etc)
  11. Does appear that they updated something in the background this month as have had the same since the start of term, and does not appear to be any setting to adjust it, and I'm not updating all the forenames for staff. I know Teams isn't designed for education but it's a pain at times when changes happen that aren't easily spotted in any documentation
  12. Nothing will go wrong. We have a couple of servers in Hyper-V that have a "static" MAC address, since Impero will complain bitterly if it gets a different MAC address after a reboot and reset the licence state as the details don't match.
  13. When you sent a message to the other domains and it worked, did you check the message header to see what the sending address/server was. If it was claiming to be coming from your school domain, but it is not an authorised senders then it could be getting dropped at any point before it hits your actual server.
  14. Could it be that you have SPF and DMARC setup on your edu domain mail server, and the web server is not sending the message via your own mail server but a third party one and as such is failing the data checks so is getting dropped as spam?
  15. This is in the thread started this morning http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/225791-looks-like-january-windows-updates-causing-all-sorts-issues.html
  16. Certainly for some of our Ruckus AP's if I do a SNMP walk and scroll down to .1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.1.6.1.1.1.1.1.1.X I can see that the X corresponds to each SSID I've got configured twice (one is 2.4g and one for 5g) That X value should match up to the SNMP value for the interface in your graph
  17. We choose to get the A3 EM&S addon added to our OVS-ES agreement (worked out in the £7-8 per FTE) but provided us with P1, InTune and a few other bits and pieces. Also unlocked the MS ApplicationProxy feature (as does P1) which let us put our Remote Desktop behind it so the MFA is handled by signing in to Office 365 in the first instance before even getting access to the link to our HTML5 RDS box internall.
  18. If it just sits on waiting to install, on the workstation stop the Solus 3 Agent service, go to C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3\Deployments and delete the contents. Restart the service. Then within the Agent get it to check for updates and hopefully it should then start to install. Other thing to do is check on your Solus server how many concurrent agent downloads are set and the time they download between (Settings -> Solus 3 -> Deployments) We upped out concurrent deployments to 99 early last year which sped up a lot of our S3 deployments
  19. For Conditional Access you require a P1 licence in your tenancy as a minimum. That is not included in E1.
  20. Kinemaster is good but you would have a watermark on it and of course adverts which might not be 100% suitable for school =/
  21. Does the connect.ini on the station have entries for the different sites and where the databases are stored? We have 3 of our schools setup, so the connect.ini has [sIMSConnection] ServerName=IP\INSTANCE DatabaseName=SIMS ServerType=SIMSSQL CommandTimeout=10000000 DatabaseMode=OnLine [sIMSDatabases] FriendlyName0=School 1 Server0=IP\INSTANCE DatabaseName0=SIMS Databasemode0=Online FriendlyName2=School 2 Server2=IP\INSTANCE DatabaseName2=SIMS Databasemode2=Online Users pick the school from the drop down and then sign in with their credentials for it
  22. also no way to bypass that, but also means that if you've got it all setup and the members/owners added, the kids will not see it in their list until the teacher actually clicks to activate the group, so also cuts down on the spam messages they could post in there. Obviously if you were not using a class template it wouldn't give the prompt, but then you also wouldn't get the read only resource folder created, assignments available etc
  23. That command just creates the team with the account used as the owner. We then add the Teachers as Owners to the team using the following Add-TeamUser -group $group.groupid -User [email protected] -Role Owner Then they can add any additional channels they want to the same as any other team... only difference is I can bulk create hundreds of teams at the start of the year in a fraction of the time of using the GUI
  24. All our ActivInspire licences are only valid for use with an official Promethean Board/Screen and up to 5 devices without a board for lesson prep work (according to the details on the cases and those not connected to the board have a water mark saying there is not a connection) If you have a different brand of board, your not really covered to use ActivInspire on it. Now that might be different if you had purchased a site licence or such like, but that was the terms on the original version of ActivStudio that came with the boards when we got them up until 2008
