Have you got Sophos setup not to scan the UPD files just to make sure it's not that's hogging a lot of resources. When we used to run Sophos, we always tried to ensure it was not doing on access file scans on the servers but just scheduled to ensure they didn't get slowed down all the time.

I know our local primary often ended up past the end date and hadn't put their order in, so ended up getting back dated for the 90 days they should of had coverage for. They learned eventually to pay attention to the notice e-mails that says it's due in X days when they were told we'd disable their accounts til it was paid

Excellent.. guess I need to make sure our Tech who can access the DNS of the domain is in today, then can make a move on getting it setup and authorised as educational.

Cheers @chaplic, and users from both tenancies logged in correctly in the right place I assume without affecting users in the other tenancy since their username was correct. Once I get it setup, and we sort the licences out on it, we'll migrated the full domain to the new tenancy.

Outlook Saying groups can't access SharePoint links.

We get that often, and have done since around June/July. Our office staff now duly ignore the warnings. -
Staff accessing pupil home folders - cloud migration
Boredguy replied to HereIGoAgain2601's topic in How do you do....it?
Would be interesting to see what your student Acceptable User Agreement has regarding staff accessing their files, and if there is anything in the staff handbook, since ours specifically states that only the IT Support team have that permissions across all the schools in the trust. -
Currently we have the MAT domain name assigned to one of our schools, and we want to spin it out to it's own Tenancy so we can basically start fresh and move all the schools across to it as we move their domains to a single AD structure. MS articles says it should be possible to setup the new tenancy with the subdomain of a domain already verified and in use in another tenancy (example Azure.Contso.com would be new domain with Contso.com in the existing tenancy) Anyone done this recently? Last thing I want to do is setup the tenancy and then find that the central team can't login with the MAT domain name that is still setup on the other schools Tenancy while we're still sorting out the licences etc on the new one (they will get downtime when we migrate their settings later)

We get login requests for it reporting as Netherlands today for some users so our Office 365 authentication fails as its outside the UK.

I wouldn't go that far!!!! -
Looking at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/pupil-premium/pupil-premium, if the child is LAC, then the LEA would have received the funding so I would be expecting them to provide the equipment and not the school budget allocation (unless your a LEA maintained school and not an Academy). It is certainly a head scratcher
-
It depends on who is providing the equipment. When lockdown started, the Councils were providing the LAC students with devices, and unless otherwise stated they were the responsible body for them and not the school. Now if you as a school are providing a device to a LAC, you would be the responsible body and it is entirely up to you how you facilitate the request as a school. The Pupil Premium should be going for assisting in their education, and in which case the laptop in our view would be provided as a standard loan device with VPN connectivity back in for filtering etc the same as we have been doing since lockdown. As it is school property, damage is reported to us, and it is down to the powers that be to decide if any repair costs should be funded entirely via the school, or if the family will have at least a nominal contribution. Also when the student moved off our role either to another school, or end of education, the device is returned unlike the council provided devices which remained with the student.
-
Obviously you would not be adding students in with the -role Owner but -role Member Only the Teachers should be an Owner
-
Likewise ours is also certificate based, and has to be a school device for the certificate to be available as it's only pushed out to devices via GPO.
-
Very easy to do if you have the GUID of the team and powershell, or if they are in a AD Synchronised group you should be able to add them to the Team that was as well.

Staff accessing pupil home folders - cloud migration
Boredguy replied to HereIGoAgain2601's topic in How do you do....it?
This is what we have been doing in Teams. Within File View, Staff create a NEA folder and within it a folder for each student. We then click the Open in SharePoint link from the NEA folder. That gives us a view of all the Student named folders. By each folder the "more info" ... icon that gives you the option to Manage Access. Remove the Members and Visitors rights (should be bottom of the list) and click the + by Direct Access and enter the student account you want to access that folder. I untick the notify box and thats it. Students then click in the NEA folder in Teams and just see their 1 folder.. Staff see all of them -

Boredguy replied to HereIGoAgain2601's topic in How do you do....it?
None of our teaching staff have access to student areas, however as all the user files are in OneDrive, students can share an entire folder with a member of staff if they need to show their work, and of course with their own class Teams we've shown staff how then can configure folders so only specific students can access a folder for NEA work so the teacher can see the documents, the student can see the document, but their class mates can't. -

It would be a good addition to the fleet of Gaming rigs I've currently got at home that rarely load up a game these days Maybe could use it to 100% the odd game title or two -
I measured our entire site one quiet summer and then put the whole lot into 2D Design so I had dimensions correct, then exported it as image and dropped it into my graphics app of choice (originally it was Paint Shop Pro, but since moved everything over to GIMP) Basic site layout is a background layer, and each different set of utilities/requires gets it's own layer added over that so it's easy to update Fire Call Point, Network Cabling or even Electrical trunk lines.

As above, hopefully not their current "online" offering of Remote Desktop Services.. but I doubt it since it would require a lot of work to create a proper web only version of SIMS (or even a subset of it)

Command Reporter not extracting data fields from SIMS
Boredguy replied to fleurvoice's topic in MIS Systems
Sounds like the user being run might not have access to the LAC field if it's not been returned. If you login to SIMS with the user account you are trying to run the report via CommandReporter, then go to Reports and Design the report you want to run, you can preview the information which will show if your missing access to the fields. You might find you need to give the user the same rights as the Data Exporter user -
It depends on your site setup. We just set our boundary groups up as an IP range since we only have the 1 site currently.

This is still the flow diagram for tests we've circulated to staff and parents, I assume from Public Health England -

What they don't say is that next to the road they have built up a large embankment over the last few months to build more houses on, and it's just after that section that the landslip has formed.- 11 replies
