Santander: Bank hands out £130m in Christmas blunder

Or a shed? -
Well you need to have at least an Azure P1 licence so it depends what you currently have available, otherwise there will be a cost implication (we got it via upgrading our staff accounts to A3 EM&S ones)

As long as your current RDS Cals allow for running on 2019 you should be ok. We redid our RDS box in the summer from 2012 R2 and had to replace our existing CALS's since they were not on Software Assurance so were limited to 2012 or earlier. Depending on what your Office 365 licencing is like as well, if your running MFA then putting your RDS box behind the MS Application Proxy is a worthwhile step (and also means you don't need your local firewall to have a port open for it to work)

Force Logoff if user group polices are not applied.
Boredguy replied to Mattjstmarys's topic in Windows 10
we used to have a lot of those issues, but not so much these days You can configure Impero to blank the screen if the network connection is removed which will alert any observant teachers at the time. We also moved away from using the Impero web extension as a means to block sites, since it's such a pain at times (plus our filtering is done by the proper web filter since staff were blocking a users internet access in Impero then wondering why they couldn't do their work on site X) -
Help with script to backup the Solus3 database.
Boredguy replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in How do you do....it?
In Powershell we have the following as part of our backup task, but you can do similar via batch file $BackupPath = "F:\Backups" $SAPassword = "Blah" $DBServer = "server\instance" $DBAttach = "d:\program files\microsoft sql server\mssql12.sims2014\mssql\binn\DbAttach.exe" &$DBAttach /BACKUP /AUTO /SERVER=$DBServer /DATABASE=Solus3_deployment_server /USER=sa /PASSWORD=$SAPassword /PATH=$BackupPath\SOLUS.BAK -
Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)

We don't seem to be making any special preparations for remote learning for the start of term. We already have a staggered start for students due to the requirement to give them at least 1 LFT onsite on their return again -
Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)

Being on the north eastern edge of Wiltshire, it's not much of a shock. At times I was offered sessions in Reading and Cheltenham before some of the additional units in Swindon appeared. -

Alas we're using it Steve, mainly for the Site team more so than IT (since their app's asset number does not match up with any of the sticky labels their guy slapped on all our equipment even though told not to). Personally I think it's a terrible waste of money. Half the time the site on our staff can't login as it's as if the portal URL we hit decides to try validating the users credentials against a different database (and the URL changes every single time you click anywhere!)

Schumacher trying to take out Villeneuve in the 97 final (and failing as only he was immobilised) was the reason that points can be removed at the end of the season if the points leader purposefully tries to crash out their rival... Shame that wasn't a case for the Senna/Prost battle. There is a reason why the F1 Team owners called it the Piranha club back in the day

[bug/error] EduGeek Hyperlink problems
Boredguy replied to Chuckster's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
Out of interest what browser are you using, as it does not seem to be an issue when I click the links in Edge or Chrome. I don't have any browser extensions other than Impero enabled. -
There has been a few issues that occured with SIMS 7.202 from what we've noticed, in that even when it has been deployed via Solus 3 it gives a System.io error when you try and launch/login to SIMS. For the stations we had with the issue, we just used the Solus 3 agent to tell it to check again for updates so it reinstalls SIMS and then it's fine. We only had this on 3 or 4 stations so it was not a major issue

We use https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087QFQW6F on our Dell 3190's (and everything else other than the blasted GeoBooks) and they are fine with WDS, MDT and SCCM as long as the Network Stack is enabled in the bios

Errm, no-one cut the corner at turn 1 otherwise they would have ended up in the tunnel wall, but you mean turn 6. Yes that was a strange call but again a Max dive bomb overtake and avoiding action needed. Lewis could have slowed up more before entering sector 3, but at that phase of the race I'm not sure it would have made much difference which of them were in the lead at the end of lap 1, other than the fact the racing would have been even more epic... From the rumblings going on last night, looks like Merc will drop the appeal since Toto did congratulate Max on Sunday night as well. Like a lot of other times the appeals are often to try and get the complex rule book looked at and clarified more than anything else.
-
errm, no had Lewis pitted under VSC, Max would have stayed out as is often the practice. He was told to do the opposite of Lewis on lap 36 as both teams were in the pits ready, but the 5.7 second lead was not enough to pit and retain a lead. We all know that Max could choose to drive Lewis off the road while defending and as long as it wasn't on purpose win the Championship but I doubt he would had done so... more likely he would just have a very very wide car and we could of had several exciting laps until his tyres degraded and the Safety car came out for the crash and etc etc etc, but that is by the by. Max won, Lewis congratulated him once he composed himself and got out the car. The drivers and the teams were not the ones that caused the controversy, but rather the procedures from Race Control.
-
In a normal race, track position is always key and as Max himself said after the race it was unlikely he would have been able to catch Lewis before the end on his fresher tyres since he was no-where near the 0.8 seconds a laps faster at that point. He needed a miracle and the racing gods provided with a Williams at Turn 14 (a corner Masi had said would not trigger a red flag if an accident occurred after Kimi crashed there earlier in the weekend... which is strange as who knows how bad a crash could have been) I know you like a good debate, but logically looking at the time between cars, time needed to pit (even under a VSC & SC) there was no way the leader could have pitted and retained track position regardless of the team and driver at that point. It's a pure numbers game.
-
Had he pitted under the VSC, Max would have stayed out as he was told to do the opposite to Lewis from what we saw, but thats the same hindsight call we can made on every VSC/SC pit stop. Yes Lewis could have pitted on the 2nd VSC lap for tyres, but I don't thing even then it would have had enough time as it wasn't out for too long, and I'm sure it was notified it was ending when he was going through sector 3. Again it's luck of the draw in that respect and isn't really the contentious issue. [edit] there was only 5.7 seconds between 1st and 2nd when the VSC came out Red Bull by being 2nd on the road could always cover what Lewis did, and had Perez to help slow him down had he pitted and ended up behind both. The only reason they pulled him in to retire under the safety car was to prevent the engine failing which might of been different had the Williams not gone into the wall so hard or in a different location, but thats just my speculation. On the whole it was a good race until the last 2 minutes
