  1. Why find a solution to a problem that doesn't need fixing? SLT should inform staff that they are not obliged to respond to emails out of hours. If staff respond to emails then that's their issue of not following SLT's instructions

    Mac Classroom

I would suggest speaking to Jigsaw24. They are specialists in Apple and I have used them in the past to configure Macs to an AD
  3. Had a similar one yesterday but as a sales call. Guy asked how we are for servers and what are plans are? Err, doesn't he know when schools have summer holidays and server purchases were done by 99% of schools weeks (or months) ago and not 2 days before the end of term
  4. Hi, If a staff member has left and their AD account has been disabled, we are assuming that their O365 mailbox is disabled too, but not deleted. However, if a staff members AD account has been deleted, their mailbox is soft-deleted and then finally deleted within Microsoft O365 after 30 days with no way of retrieving it. Now, if an account has been disabled and remains that way for a year or more, then: 1. Are we allowed to do this? Should we be keeping disabled accounts for that long? 2. Are we allowed to recover their mailbox and pass the mailbox to HR or SLT to allow them to search through it, if there is a legal case or disciplinary case going on against that staff member? 3. Are we allowed to backup a staff members mailbox in pst format, delete their mailbox and then store their pst file in "cold storage" if and when required? Help and advice on this GDPR issue would be appreciated.
  5. Hi all, At the school where I am they have been purchasing a number of laptops for Looked After Children (LAC's). These laptops are provided to the LAC's by money (around £500 per laptop) given to the school by the LA to purchase laptops on their behalf and then they are able to keep them after they have left the school. 1. Are we allowed to install school software on them? They are not technically school owned laptops, but are used by the LAC's for their education whilst registered at the school 2. If we do install the software, I'm assuming that we need to uninstall the software once they have left The school seem to think that we can install software on the laptops and allow them to take it with them when they leave, as the "school has purchased the licenses". However, we are saying that the software is licensed to the school, on school owned equipment and not on equipment that then goes with the student once they have left What are your thoughts? Any other issues or queries regarding licensing?
  6. We had a similar issue with a hexagon security bolt. Probrand couldn't help but advised on this https://www.accu.co.uk/en/666-security-hexagon-key-wrench They maybe able to supply you a pentagon key
  7. I set up a Meru wireless system in a school, which works very well. Was set up in Summer 2014 and still going strong. Issue with lots of devices on the network in the same area not an issue. We had 100% coverage but when a laptop trolley or iPad trolley was rolled into a classroom we had stuck an AP on top of the trolley which was then plugged into the wall in the room. This increased the coverage in that area, allowing for all devices to stream at the same time. As Meru is not channel based there were no issues with this. We also had something on at the school for parents and allowed around 100 parents to use the wireless with Quizlet, again no issues reported
  8. TightVNC - https://www.tightvnc.com/ - free to use and easy to implement
  9. Where are you based?
  10. My understanding is that schools, or typically the councils have a general PRS license to cover them from this. Does that mean that the BM has to now also stop teachers from allowing them from playing DVDs in class
  11. How dark/light is the room? What is the size of the screen that it will output to? Is an ultra short throw possible or does it need to be a standard one? Will 3500 lumens be bright enough?
  12. Contact Misco and provide them with a rough date of when it was purchased. They should be able to resend over an invoice or proof with the serial number.
  13. I had a similar issue where an iPhone was locked with a passcode and no one knew the code. I contacted Apple support, provided them with proof of purchase from the reseller which included the serial number and they were able to remotely factory reset it/clear the passcode.
  14. Our schools have 2 lines coming in. One from BT and one from Virgin. One is the main line and one is the backup line in case the main ISP goes down. This should keep your broadband up 99.9% of the time
