Just to try and bring some life back to this thread - We have exactly the same problem here. SIMS locks up on 'Run' or 'Design' report, users are complaining and blaming it on the Server or the PC's, but the Server isn't under load, the PC isn't (Minus a sudden spike in CPU for a short while above) and then it comes back. Did you get yours resolved?

We've got an ActiveStorage mRaid storage server, that is attached to our Apple Network, on the first week of term (I mean when else would you decided to break?) it has decided to stop working. After extensive testing we have identified that one of the PSU has given up. ActiveStorage seem to have gone from the market place and exist in the US, we have contacted them and they have agreed with our prognosis, but the PSU are EOL and they have offered £425 plus shipping for a used PSU. They suggested I reach out to others (as they were popular in schools) to see if anyone has one sat collecting dust. I am on the hunt for ETASIS EFRP-465AL PSU, this is a long shot and I have pretty much set myself on replacing the entire server (due to it's age) but if anyone can help - if you don't ask you never know!

Satchel One do all of what you want and we use it successfully here both on web browsers and via the app on mobile devices, near same time write back to SIMS for the attendance team - who like you, still live on the desktop app

That makes life a lot easier if you have new servers, so what we did was build the new server and the structure while the existing RM servers ran the RM network. We utilised the same domain and created a new structure, security groups, deployments and users and Shares on the new servers. You can even promote new DC's without RM running it will be fine, then you can setup new client stations and test the environment as you build the Group Policies etc. Then when you are ready to switch, you can either migrate the users (if keeping the same usernames) and update their security groups, Homepaths over and start to decommission the RM servers from being DC's and take them off the domain so they remove their RM tentacles from your network. Once you've got your new environment setup along side your existing, as long as it's outside of what RM can see it is quite painless to make the migration.

Afternoon The School I am at now, when I took over was a RM CC4 network and I ripped it all out. Are you planning on utilising the same servers / domain? Or are you getting new hardware etc? As this will all impact upon the amount of work, when it came to moving away from RM I terminated the agreement and we did the migration ourselves. Are you keeping any support contract with RM? We couldn't wait to get away, so we made sure we made a clean break from RM and haven't looked back since! More than happy to give some pointers if this will help

We use SIMS Options without SIMS Students and have for a number of years. As with the above, we send out the invitations on mass using admin.sims.co.uk and assign them access to Options at this point. The only issue as again eluded to above is students following simple instructions, that they have to accept their invitations before they can go to options online. If they don't accept their invitation first, they can login to options online, but it's a blank screen with just the purple bar across the top. We utilise the sync with O365, so when they click the registration they link up with their O365. If they click the invitation first and then go to Options online, the process works seamlessly and we are using Options Online now more and more for Taster days and other scenarios across the school. The process for ours is: - Receive invitation - Click and accept invitation (Says invitation complete) - Click a link on the letter sent to them / Link on our website to Options Online - Do Online Options As mentioned, the only issue we have is where parents and students read the letter about options, skip the first bit of the letter which says complete the registrations and skip straight to logging in.

It would be done via Exchange and a Mail flow rule, that if domain = X allow, if Domain doesn't = X, Send rejection message.

Is anyone aware if claims is only available for external support, or if claims can be made for internal staffing costs to do the work... As it put a huge amount on IT teams internally to set them up, or is it only if you brought support in? Guidance is as clear as mud!

If you want a cost effective and simply just the register on their timetable we use 'Reggie' which works well and is installed on devices. A lot cheaper than SIMS app and other options and works well, our PE department and other staff on the move use it.

Yeah - Still using RDPGuard to good effect, it does the job. We have it set to monitor for X3 failed login attempts and blocks the IP, we have also obscured our RDP port to something random and RDPGuard monitors that port. Since doing this, plus some firewall rules, still touch wood... All is well!
