What wireless system are you using?

As per title, i want to get an idea as to what spread is like throughout education.

 

Please comment as to whether you're happy with it or if you've selected other, and whether you're a primary or a secondary.

 

I'm currently an Aruba user, albeit on an 8 year old system. It's quite complicated and expensive in my opinion. We're currently looking at the market to see what's recommended and worth testing out with a view to replace our entire wireless system.

UniFi, 24AP's and it is absolutely faultless for what it costs. Some might argue not advanced enough for such a large network but it fits my needs just fine

Ruckus for me - we're on our second controller. Has worked pretty much flawlessly for 5+ years. Easy to set up, management is simple. Flexible to use etc... Would be my choice in most cases!

UniFi here too. 36 APs (mixed outdoor/indoor and some pro units) and working great for just over a year.

UniFi here. 12 APs - the bigger names have more features, but the UniFi software controller can do a surprising amount and copes with most of what I think you'd want in school. It's been very stable - I just wish I was buying now so that I could have the dual band version!

Running Aruba here. It is complex and, I think, quite expensive. But sometimes your organisation's needs are complex. We've got two controllers and a clearpass server and it's all been extremely reliable.

Cisco here. Don't hear much on here about it as an option, and I think it cost a fortune but it was centrally funded under the LIDW programme. I like the equipment though.

Ubiquiti unfi is the budget solution and Ruckus is the flash solution. I would never used Cisco as the tech is fairly standard I think Ruckus technology was very good with beam forming. Both Ubiquiti and Ruckus are/where market changers. I used HP as well on two sites not my choose one site it was a pain another site it's working ok.

Unifi across 12 schools...approx. 150 ap's, works brilliantly.. Does the job.... without the rip off 'maintenance fees' of the rest

Anyone using Unifi in a fairly large secondary? Say 800+

 

Heard lots of good things about them for smaller schools but not sure if no-ones mentioning them for secondaries as they aren't working, or just no-ones bit the bullet yet

Happy with its capabilities. Currently have good/average internal coverage will be rolling out some external coverage over the next year.
