About never-ending-troubles

Personal Information

  • Occupation
    IT Manager
  • Location
    Rossendale
  1. I've had this problem last yr, the only way I found to reduce traffic was to install WSUS, all bandwidth limiting/blocking lead to other issues, office becoming unresponsive, app crashing.
  2. There support is terrible just told to only contact via email as too busy to take calls, only responded to me via email on Saturday after a week, can't update my AD links so no access for yr7 as the removed that options from the Admin panel last time they upgraded. Doesn't work in Edge if you use AD integration only chrome. No way of updating Yr7 accounts with email addresses as that's needed to authenticate with AD.
  3. I have Xirrus running in 3 schools 2 with the XR520's for 4yrs and 1 with the XR620's for the last yr for me the were the most competitive and have all the bell and whistles of all other suppliers never had a problem with them any that have broken had been swapped out with question. Good support based in the UK apart from if you get redirected to America takes 5 minutes to spell my email address to them need to practise my Queen's English
  4. Xirrus in 3 schools 2 high 1 primary not a single problem with it
  5. I might come to this one, were do I register
  6. I've deployed Xirrus in 3 schools and had no problem with them both the xr520's and xr620's, and from a price prospective much cheaper than other vendors try Vitalize Consultancy ~ IT Infrastructure Solutions
  7. I manage 1 primary after I finish the day job and run another high school remotely, I find a lot of little primary school can't afford full time techie's as I took over from the caretaker who had little knowledge of networks as everyone logged in as a local user account worth doing but always wonder if I would be any better off doing it full time.
  8. This is a key full-time, full-year position that embraces a wide range of ICT-related responsibilities. The post holder will undertake day-to-day administration of the School’s ICT network on both the Preparatory and Senior school sites, advise the Senior Management Team (SMT) on strategy, good practice and compliance, help to specify, tender and procure relevant hardware and software, and ensure that all aspects of the network and related operating systems, including telephony. Wage is between £21k to £25, for more info please see Windermere School website
