  1. We use this script to install modules in python for students. Its just a batch file: Pastebin.com
  2. We went Senso, works great! We also have ABTutor cloud which is nice but doesnt have Office 365 integration yet. We give staff a choice currently.
  3. We had this issue when we found a duplicate in our sync. From memory the only thing the defaultAnchor caused issues with was that it wasnt editable in the AD GUI properties. There was some workarounds using powershell, but I believe Microsoft changed the anchor to a new field to get around this issue. I think its fine to keep as it is, just a bit harder to fix dupes if they do arrise.
  4. I upgraded this today, very easy and just a simple installer to run. Everything went fine. It appears only the internal components are upgraded, no new functionality that I saw.
  5. For the ideas portal, there is a link on the main Bromcom support site. The dedicated URL is: Bromcom Ideas Portal (bromcomcloud.com) There doesnt seem to be much progress on the main ideas yet but hopefully soon.
  6. Around 4 months. We got on the beta but have recently purchased a full license after a sucessful trial. We didn't want to install any local server software so this option was ideal.
  7. We moved from Version 7 to the new cloud version recently and its been great so far. Took 30mins to setup. It's been in beta for 6 months so pretty stable now. EDIT: The only thing its missing is Office 365 integration really. You still have to setup individual users in the admin console which is a pain.
  8. 500mbit BT leased line, around 6K a year I think now.
  9. The Surface SE laptops don't work great as a shared device, but are excellent as a personal 1-1 student device.
  10. Thats a brilliant and clever move. No schools really have an excuse now to not move. Well done.
  11. The worst thing is, even when they catch up to other modern competitors (if thats even possible), they will still have all the legacy stuff and huge technical debt. They are just building an upside down software pyramid, with a shiny cloud top layer. It's terrible project management and very short-sighted.
  12. I used their "Issue Tracker" template, took 5mins to setup. Just edit any fields to hide them or make them non mandatory in the list options. The beauty is it all integrates into Office 365 in terms of users and groups. You can also use Rules to setup auto emails on update or completion. Additionally you can use power automate to do some really crazy advanced stuff, although i've not looked into it too much. You can also create new lists from scratch, i've made lists for long term jobs, assets and all sorts. Its very flexible and quick to setup.
  13. I honestly don't understand why people use anything else these days other than Microsoft Lists or Google Forms. They are both brilliant helpdesks that are hugely customizable.
  14. Yep we do this, runs fine but no more updates.
  15. This is how it looks from their promo video
  16. Yeh not done for secondaries yet. And this is even better! It actually syncs back to your local SQL database. How modern.....
  17. It was delayed again I believe.
  18. Document and diagram everything at first. Work out what the network does and where it connects and what the reasons are for the split in the first place. Merging networks is really easy but you need to check about things like vlans or subnets on the switches first.
  19. I bet you £10 that if you ask them in 6 months they will have changed their minds Ours did!
  20. Honestly just leave, the rolling contracts Sims put you on are just words. They are very unlikely to enforce it due to the current competition enquiry.
  21. We use Microsoft lists, works really well and totally free cloud based, Full Office 365 integration.
  22. Yes you need and internet connection and office 365 for community login, it runs for 30 days as a trial first I think. Pain in the backside for exams!!
  23. School software contract revisions investigated by UK's CMA • The Register
  24. Sorry I should have explained better, it would be good to get those options turned on by default. So we dont need to configure it when first installed. The first time use experience seems very locked down currently which may put some people off.
  25. Better out of the box defaults would help such as allowing alphanumberic in candidate numbers, default location for autosave, remove prompts to save.
