  1. Because that is what the competition commission has ruled as a compromise. 3 or 5 year contracts are pretty common in the MIS industry, so taking the legal route would have taken years and been highly likely to fail. Schools had the chance to move before they put these new 3 year contracts in place. Most schools who didn't move just sat on their hands and kept Sims. Bad future planning on their part in my opinion. As a school, we were talking about moving as soon as Covid happened, it was quite clear we needed a modern cloud MIS. This seems like a good solution for those schools who said they "didn't have enough time" to make a decision.
  2. Very cheap and nice little system for people on legacy MIS's like Sims...
  3. We run our teams IP phones on a "flat" network. No issues whatsoever.
  4. Indeed resoved Minor incident: Errors when attempting to login | Bromcom Cloud Services Status
  5. You need to make sure you enable "guest file system indexing" in the job properties to see the whole file system. Then you get a nice browser and virtual machine to find files on restore.
  6. Seems to be an issue with Parent and Teacher apps this morning. Just a heads up! We've had loads of emails from parents.
  7. I wouldn't recommend starting a new MIS during the start of the school year in summer, its a busy time and complicates things a lot to change then. We did ours over Easter and it was a nice easy switch over with our current timetable and classes all migrated by the new MIS supplier quickly and accurately.
  8. Yeh we use salamandersoft here and Microsoft Lists to tick off each step. Not many these days though as we are single sign on mostly.
  9. Microsoft Lists is free and brilliant with the templates. Also has full Office 365 SSO of course. Microsoft Lists | List Maker App for Teams | Microsoft 365 EDIT: Here are the templates for Ticketing and Asset systems. List templates in Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Support Asset List Ticket System We've customised ours to add photos of assets, assign technicians to tasks and auto email requester on completion
  10. I insulated our loft last week and its incredible the difference its made. Our loft already had insulation and boarding but I put another roll on top of it as well as insulating the hatch and corners. The house feels a lot warmer already and all the cold spots have dissapeared. Really happy I did it and it only cost about £150 and took 2 days to do. Most of which was moving stored items around up there
  11. Awesome thats my 21st personal info hack on my haveIbeenpwned haha.
  12. Yeh didn't work for me either, only clearing cache works.
  13. Yes clearing browser cache works
  14. Known "Minor" issue apparently. lol Minor incident: Some users unable to login | Bromcom Cloud Services Status And Bromcom logging random people out? (bromcomcloud.com)
  15. Multiple reports of teachers not being able to log in this morning. Teacher app seems to work ok though as a temporary solution
  16. I've literally just fixed today after searching high and low. Just managed to get a 5 year fix at 4.5% which I'm very happy with. I think its very marginal the decision to wait or fix now. I don't think it will matter much. It sounds to me like rates may have peaked or at least be reaching a peak soon.
  17. Where does everyone stand on the Mosyle vs jamf debate these days ? I've been out of the loop for a while
  18. We had same issues on our reception phone but they are slowly moving over to the software app as its so easy to use. We also setup the robo attendant setting which actually takes most calls away from the receptionist automatically.
  19. Saw this on linkedin and thought it might be appropriate for people thinking about moving MIS. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/duncan-baldwin-a272282b_changing-your-management-system-checks-activity-7005499416631496704-SX0z
  20. Would outsource this personally, having someone do the design and development as well as patching and hosting is worth every penny! We used e4 Education and the website they built for us looks very good. CMS is also nice and easy to use by staff. Also syncs well with our school Office calendar.
  21. Yep server error here as well. Looks like MCAS error.
  22. PM'd you, and yes secondary.
  23. I'm always happy to show off ours. We use Bromcom and I've shown it to a number of other schools in the past year!
  24. I had a good meeting with the CTO of Bromcom last week. I urge you all to fill in the feedback surveys they send out to help promote the case for speed improvements. They do listen and are working in the background to improve this. The topics we covered included: - Slowness between 8:30 to 9:30am - Lazy loading of large lists - Navigation speed improvements such as MCAS >> Accounts >> Parent searches - Speed of Widgets on home screen - The effect of 3rd party apps on Bromcom performance - Site speed page monitoring and alerts - Improvements in web lesson registration entry Anyway, hopefully I've done my bit. I'm a web developer myself, so understand the limitations of frameworks, databases, dependencies and the battle between features vs speed. But there are clearly many improvements that need to be made as Bromcom scales and gets more customers.
  25. The Key group have been buying up lots of educational service suppliers. No idea what their plan is for all those brands though. Seems like a lot of overlap.
