Anyone else having speed issues (or not working at all issues) with Bromcom this morning? Status page says all is well, so wanted to check if it's just us.

Morning all We've put a ticket in with Bromcom but if anybody here has some advice for us it would be appreciated, we have not long come across to Bromcom from SIMS (start of June) and we've got an unexpected change that we need to implement - we're going from a fairly standard timetable to one that is split between KS3/KS4. Now I'm sure this is the case for a few schools... our timetable has been completed in NT6 (we're licensed until towards the end of the year, and it's what our timetabler knows at this point) but what type of period structure would we need to do, to accommodate it? Nova support advised us to do split periods/lunches, which we've done, but they overlap so I don't know how this can be put in to Bromcom?! Like I say we have a ticket open too but you can't beat community knowledge Thanks! Couple of screenshots attached..

Morning all Those on Bromcom, what are you doing for outbound email? The SMTP free limit is probably plentiful for a smaller primary school but we could blow through that with a few whole school emails. Are you paying the Bromcom rates or have you gone for another service like Amazon SES or Sendgrid etc? Just finding out what people are doing so I know the best route to look in to. Cheers

Anyone know of a way to pull student and staff photos from Bromcom and into a folder? Ideally fully automated on a schedule. We used to use Sims Photo Exporter from Salamander previously, but they say they don't have a version for Bromcom. I use this for a few processes in Power Automate and Power BI. Thanks.

Is anyone using the oData feed from Bromcom and looked at permissions? Is there any way to lock down access so staff cannot see personnel data?

Anyone else successfully setup the Office 365 SMTP service? I'm having trouble so far.. Upon clicking "grant access" in Bromcom you get met with this error. The app in entra is a "multi tenant" application, so I cannot make any changes to it from my end, ticket open with Bromcom support.

Bromcom is a tireless advocate for fair procurement practices in the MIS sector. As such, we read with interest a blog by Paul Wyatt-Pike on Ethical Procurement in Education: Referrals v Kickbacks: The increasing chatter around ethical procurement has become more prominent, particularly due to the thoughtful contributions from the Wisdom Partnership and experts like Finnemore Consulting. I couldn’t resist adding my observations to the conversation. Specifically, I focus on Local Authority schools; I will reference MIS only for context, shedding light on the often blurred lines between kickbacks and referral fees... Read more. Anyone interested in this topic may also like to know that there is an independently run, public LinkedIn group on the topic of school IT procurement – it aims to raise awareness of procurement best practice: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12863531/.

I am creating a SEND register for schools in our MAT and I would like to include EHCP top-up funding. At present I cannot find the correct table/column to pull this from on the oData feed. On occasion, Bromcom has less-than-intuitive column names. Does anyone know which table this sits in? Cheers.

Looking for a technical person with some experience of schools MIS in particular SIMS but could also be Arbor or Bromcom. It is a Term Time only role so the salary is pro rata'd, up to £25800 but it is also Hybrid so only 2 days in these offices (Either Dorking, Milton Keynes OR Hammersmith), rest from home! The last person we placed into this role, came from an IT technical apprenticeship from a school, increased his overall salary and got the holidays off so he could concentrate on further studies It's service desk work supporting schools who buy into an MIS support contract You will log calls and emails, attempt to assist quickly or work with the team to mange the support call through to successful closure. You could also be working on improving your own knowledge of the technology, helping to deliver online training, working on new documentation and helping with upgrades. Let me know on the numbers below ;-)

Hi - my feeds have worked no problem previously, now getting lots of time outs - there is a lot of data, but has been previously. What could cause this timeout? We are having webfilter issues within school, could this be affecting anything? Or could Bromcom have changed the database in some way, that has resulted in slowness? Thanks!

Our migration to Bromcom has failed - we are unable to save any attendance registers. We mark the screen but it is not saving to the database - absolute nightmare and failed launch. Bromcom say "few issues with registers for newly migrated schools known" but no fixes forthcoming. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it please? I advocated so strongly for Bromcom - am so disappointed they aren't more concerned. Our third party support have been excellent in chasing it up but nothing they can do unless Bromcom can resolve at their end.

Hi, We are in the process of comparing online Cloud based MIS systems. We have reviewed: Tribal Synergy for Schools Progresso CAPITA Learning Gateway we also reviewed iSAMS but it was too expensive for a school of our size we are still seeking information from users of the following: BROMCOM CLOUD MIS RM INTEGRIS SCHOLARPACK Are there any of you out there? Any views or experience of these systems much appreciated. cheers

Just been having a look at Bromcom's teachers web folder and must say im quite impressed. It seems to give a good web based version of a MIS front end (sims or bromcoms own) for teachers to use. In the usual "all that glitters isn't gold" vein of thought, is anyone using it? How good is it in real life? What's it like to live with?

Our (Primary) school is looking to move from Bromcom to Scholarpack, has anyone undertaken this data migration process? did all data migrate correctly? Anyone?

Hello guys, We are currently using Bromcom's Win-folder for e-reg, we are having problems with our PE department as they need to be able to take reg on the field. WiFi coverage is sorted but its not a good idear to take a 17" laptop in the middle of a muddy field. so we got some of bromcom's useless xpda's but i have had enough of them not working properly. as all of our PE staff have Iphones I thought we could use that, is there "an app for that" or a secret web interface Thanks, Pete,

Hi - my PowerBi reports no longer show in Modules> Analysis>PowerBI Viewer. "Need to authenticate with PowerBI, please check config". In config my Username and password are correct (My MS details) but it's telling me that it is incorrect and unable to save settings. We haven't implemented 2FA, nothing else has changed over the weekend, but it thinks my MS details are wrong but I can log into PowerBI with them no problem. Cleared Cache, reset all passwords - any other ideas would be appreciated For info This is how it normally works > I use desktop PowerBI to create reports and use app.powerbi.com to schedule them. I publish to ‘my workspace’ and then the reports show for all staff under Modules > Analysis > PowerBi Viewer. I have to configure Bromcom in Config > Analysis > PowerBI config with my PowerBI credentials (i.e. MS account details) Every time I change my system password I have to update in the Bromcom Config – not normally an issue and hadn’t changed my password since about 2 weeks ago and everything was fine until this morning.

We have been using Power BI alongside Bromcom for years now. For the first time ever, this morning, names of all students and staff are redacted in all Power BI reports, with asterisks instead of the names. There are various reports used by teachers and attendance leads that can't be used at present because of this. We are exploring using certain areas of Bromcom that we haven't done previously. Yesterday, I used 2 features that none of our schools have used before, so it seems likely this is linked to names being redacted. Those areas are: Adding staff absences Adding a user defined field in the attendance section for pupils. I've checked the user defined field, and the roles assigned for Read Only and Read & Edit only includes Administrator at present (photo attached). Could this be what's causing the issue when the data is pulled through the API? If so, what role needs to be added? Would it be Third Party? Thanks

There seem to be quite a few threads about moving away from sims, but I can't find one that compares (what seems to be) the main 2 options. Bromcom or Arbor? Is anyone able to give clear pros and cons for each one for a 11-18 school of around 1000 pupils Thank you
