Schools Broadband In-line Filter down?
yac2016 replied to snagrat's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Seems similar to issues we have with Updata/Link2ICT/Entrust using NetSweeper in Staffordshire. -
Link2ICT is part Capita. You probably mean BCC?

Altaro, works out cheaper as well.

Snipe IT - https://snipeitapp.com/ if self hosted it's free.

Hi if you update the firmware you can use the Activ Arena pens. Promethean can send across the info if you log a call.

1) Buy SMART hardware products, get the year's free subscription, then fall back to free restricted mode. Has anyone any experience with the current SMART range (MX, 6000, 7000)? Specs they seem about on par with alternatives, but with the benefit of having the physical pens etc. for use with SMART software. From my experience with SMART boards after the 1 year you don't fall back to the restricted mode. You will just not be able to get the latest versions, so say you purchased a board with SMART 17 you would get updates for a year but be licensed to use 17 fully. Pricing for SMART Panels is pretty competitive as well on multiple panels.

MSDist are slightly cheaper than 4gon form my experience especially on 5 packs by about £30

Spot on. Shame this is happening alot. Virtually every school I audit has a screen supplied by sales companies at a cheap price allowing the user to either use SMART or Promethean software without a license. Some will just tell the school to use what they like.

They are good printers and service and support is good. They seem to always have issues with drivers with latest OS though, for example server 2019 you would have issues.

FTTC line?
-
It’s difficult as it all depends on where you are and when you took out your contract. Prices come down every month at the moment. 1gb lines are now about £5k a year. 300mb about £3.5k

Or Altaro is a more cost effective solution to Veeam.

Google Classroom or MS Teams is all you need...just think of the money saved!

Wow £45 per user...can't be right?

Support providers in the West Midlands

Have you spoke to Matt at LourdesIT? They are based in Worcester. Also I agree with the others if you outsource the install again you won’t know the setup too well.- 12 replies

Senso.Cloud will do what you require and then cover your safeguarding. You can see all the schools at a top level and remote on to any station from and device. Works great on cheomebooks as well.

It seems Arbor and ScholarPack are more geared towards primary schools.

I would still virtualise the new hardware, this does not affect any users, they won't even know you have virtualised anything as it will be on the server side. It will give you many options including more VM's, backing up etc. I am based in Staffordshire so happy to give you some advice if you need any.

If you are a charity is it not time to look at Gsuite or O365, both products are free for education and charity sectors.

There is no ball park figure, they look at both the number of devices onsite and users, see image below if you can make it out clear? This will then give you an idea of what UTM you require and then you can find out costs.

Agree, Greenhouse are good.

20mb LL connection in a high school is not enough. We have a mix of schools and sizes and I think the cost will be for your firewall and filtering more so the line connection. 100mb costs are £250-£300 per month at the moment via BT, but onsite UTM device for a school your size about £2k. 1. High School 2. Number of users (1200) 3. 100mb 4. Type of connection - Leased Line 5. £3000 for LL per year and £2k per year for onsite firewall and filtering.

You can get the cloud services free for 3 years. However just in a virtual PC would do. Get a AP test it for yourself, you won’t regret it.
