We've got the same issue here. It seems to be worse in the New Outlook App. The "Classic" version and online seem ok for most people but a decent chunk are having to press F9 to run a Send/Receive or click on to a different folder and then back to Inbox to tripper a refresh online.

Hi Gareth, I went to a concert at the Brixton Academy last year. I parked at the Westfield shopping center in Shephard's bush and then got the tube from there. I had to change once but it was pretty straight forward. The tube keeps running until really late so getting back wasn't an issue. The car park is open 24/7 and was easy to get to. I went down the M40 which becomes the A40 but the M4 route looks just as simple. Hope that helps. David

Did anyone ever manage to get this working in school? I've got exactly the same issue, try to log in and get "Login: Unable to connect to server". The user can get on at home so I think it's something to do with filtering (we've got Smoothwall) but no amount of exceptions seem to get it going. -
I'm still trying to get this resolved. When I connect an apple device it asks me to trust a certificate from our network so I'm guessing that's the one I need to add to android devices. The new problem I've got is that when I try to install the exported certificate on to a android mobile it says "Private Key required to install". This makes sense but when I export the certificate from the server the option to include the private key is greyed out. My googleing this morning hasn't found any way of exporting the private key with the certificate. Has anyone got any ideas of how I can get the certificate with the key to import on to a mobile?

Hanley and Upton Educational Trust (HUET) is looking to recruit a full time all year-round ICT Technician to assist with the maintenance of the HUET ICT Network and equipment. The role will support the IT Systems Manager in delivering technical support to all users in the four schools, and assist in both maintenance of existing equipment and installation of new hardware and software across the network. The role will also involve supporting and providing the application and development of IT technology within an educational environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a friendly team whose work is greatly valued across the HUET. Come and work in a small trust, 1 secondary and 3 primaries, in south Worcestershire. Feel free to ask me any questions. The application form and more info is available on the website: https://www.hanleycastle.worcs.sch.uk/vacancies/support-staff-vacancies/

I'm having exactly this issue with Android devices. To those of you who've resolved it, which server do I need the certificate from? Is it from the NPS server or a DC or another one?

We use year of entry + three digit number + surname + first name initial. So John Aardvark is 23001AardvarkJ, works really well to make it obvious which accounts are students as opposed to staff. It also completely avoids duplicates as every student has a unique number.

[ms office - 2019] Desktop Outlook suddenly won’t open.
mp4-dave replied to mp4-dave's topic in Office Software
Thanks for the suggestion ifarmery1234, when logged on as an admin I can see that that registry key doesn't exisit. When logged in as a normal user I can't open the registry. When logged on as an admin with Outlook working I can Ctrl+right click on the Outlook icon in the system tray and see that it is using Bearer authentication which is the modern version. -
This is a very odd problem that’s started over the half term. No staff users can open Outlook 2019, which worked perfectly before the half term. When they click on the icon they’re asked for their username and password, no matter how many times they enter it, the box comes back again. If you click Cancel then you get a blue Outlook 2019 loading screen with “loading profile” in the bottom left hand corner and nothing happens. It works perfectly for IT admins, but not for any staff users. If you log on as an admin you can add one of the not working email accounts to Outlook and it works perfectly straight away so it seems like a permissions issue, but I have no idea where or why it has changed over the half term. All staff users are affected by this but can log on to the web version with no issues. Has anyone ever seen anything like this or got any ideas of what I can try? Two of us spent all day yesterday working on it and while we’ve narrowed it down, we don’t seem any closer to a solution.

Looks a super powerful gaming PC. If I won it I'd buy myself the steam VR headset to take flight sim to the next level. -
We were forced to used Every for a year or so and it was terrible from an IT helpdesk point of view. Everything is poorly laid out, it looked terrible and it was missing most of the basic features that every other IT ticketing system offers. Our account manager/sales rep wasn't that interested in any feedback we gave them. We moved to OP Helpdesk which is light years ahead (although sadly seemingly no longer in active development). On the flip side, our facilities manager really liked the contract management/reminders and some of that side of Every. From a ticketing point of view, it was the worst system I'd ever seen.

I come from 7 years in the future where I was having exactly the same problem. Resolved by changing the File Screening as suggested by gybe78. Thank you very much.

Support providers in the West Midlands
mp4-dave replied to mp4-dave's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Thanks for the suggestions and replies everyone. We already use the Burconix free password changing tool which works really well. I think the long term solution is to go Vanilla, my main hesitation about doing it ourselves is that staff and student confidence in IT is at such a low point now, that I really need as close to a guaranteed solution as possible. I'm sure my team and I would get there in the end, but I really need to get to September with a much more robust and reliable network in place and ready to go. If that involves paying someone to help us with the initial setup then I'm happy to do that. willtech - I'm near Worcester.- 12 replies

Good morning everyone, I’m looking for some advice and suggestions on how I might proceed from the following situation: After many years of excellent service from RM we have had several significant problems with the latest project, Server 2016 and Windows 10, despite working with various levels of their technical support team for several months we don’t seem to be making much progress on getting a reliable working network. This has led me to start looking at possible alternative support providers. My team and I are more than capable of handling the day to day issues that come up, we only tend to use RM for larger projects such as upgrading Server OSs, moving to new versions of Windows and server refreshes. We don’t really have the necessary skills and experience to build a full “Vanilla” network from scratch in a compressed time period and role this out to an entire secondary school (1000 students, 450 devices). Two of us do have experience of supporting vanilla MS networks, but this was a while ago. I'm starting to feel that this may be the only way to truly get rid of the "ghosts in the system" that seem to exist. Every time one problem is solved it seems to create another one. If any of you could recommend a support provider in the local area (West Midlands) or suggest any other possible solutions I would be very grateful. Thanks David
