At my public school we had lamp bulb for a Smart UF45 projector burn out, pop and shatter within the unit, fortunately most of the glass stayed within the lamp housing. The projector hangs upside down and faces to the rear which leaves the access panel facing down and easy to service with a ladder. Following instructions downloaded from Smart's website I removed the old lamp, didn't originally notice any pieces of glass when I shined my phone camera's light up there. After inserting the replacement bulb and ensuring all the screws were tight, plugging it back in, the fan powers on but after 5ish minutes with just the fan and no picture, I get 5 beeps and right lights (blinking lamp, solid power.) I double check everything two or three times with the same results before I call my boss. My boss recommends double checking the access panels, I do that to also no success. Upon my bosses instruction I remove the projector unit from the boom and bring it back to my desk/workbench which is when my boss notices that one of the screws were loose and there were tiny shards of glass I did not see before. Since this is the only type of this projector we have and since the media center specialist uses it for almost every class period, I must get it cleaned and working asap, therefore what is the best way to clean tiny slivers of broken glass from the inside of the projector when you don't have a vacuum and is there anything I should be aware of that could be causing the projector reject the lamp? Also could I have done any damage by having the loose mounting screw which I originally thought was tight? Thank you in advance!

Hi, I have recently purchased a SMART Board SB660. Everything is fine but when I touch the left hand side of the board (Pen or Finger) the ink or cursor moves about three centimetre's away from where I touched. The board is currently mounted on a old whiteboard and the edge of the whiteboard is metal. The board will be moved soon. We have tried to move the board so there was not metal on metal connection but no help. If you could help that would be great. I am hoping that it is an easy fix and that it wont cost much! Thank you.

We have recently re-imaged all machines to Windows 10 (1703). We now seem to have issues with all our smartboards (various models). When the desktop loads the board is interactive. As soon as smart ink loads the board becomes unresponsive when trying to drag/select anything on the desktop. The pens do work fine though. Have tried various drivers. This is only happening with Windows 10 (1703). Has anybody had this issue?

Hello guys, Is any school planning on upgrading their SMART smartboards? We are a small primary school in Kent and would love to hear from you if you would like to donate it or even sell it. Thank you all.. Martin

Hi everyone, Since you need to use the later SMART drivers to enable the SB680 boards to work with Windows 10, I thought I'd make it part of my MDT setup. However, when actually running the file during deployment, it barely runs before exiting and moving on. I've looked in the MDT logs and the application is marked as having been installed successfully, with a return code of 0. No error messages I can see. I've customised the exe file with the SMART Install Manager and am passing the XML to the installer as per documentation. When I run this exact same command on CMD, the software installs fine. In MDT I'm using it as an Application with Source files. Has anyone been able to deploy the SMART EXE driver successfully? I can't find any MSI driver files anymore, I think SMART stopped supplying those years ago. I feel like I'm at my wits end trying to get this one stupid file deployed. Alternatively, how would one deploy this via batch file in MDT?

Does anybody know of somewhere i can get a copy of the Smart title above? I need to deploy Smart Notebook 15.2 but need the install manager version 1.6 to to configure it.

Just a quick question regarding the smartboard 880 installation. Does the installation have to be carried out by some kind of a professionally trained engineer? The reason I'm asking is due to the warranty Would the board not be under warranty anymore if installed by anyone...well, a good DIYer? Thanks

Hello, We currently have 52 Smartboards at our school and these are a combination of SB500-SB600 boards all manufactured before 2012. We have just bought 4 new SB660 boards manufactured this year but after what I thought would just be a quick replacement, have found that the board won't speak to the computer. We are currently running Smart version 10.0.123.0.01:25:09 Apr 3 2008 and Driver version 10.0.124.0. My question is has the firmware changed for boards made in 2012 and therefore the driver needs to be updated and/or has anyone else experienced this. Kind Regards

We are running Lenovo L13 laptops with various SMARTboards, mostly 6000 and 6000S series. When users connect to these and use Microsoft OneNote for drawing on the board, we are seeing frequent laptop freezes and crashes. So far we have tried updating video drivers, removing SMART Product driver, and using both versions of OneNote. So far nothing has worked. Anyone else seeing this issue or have any suggestions?

Hi Everyone we are having issues with our smartboard's Smartink. Smartink is set via GPO to run at user login – and doesn’t, I’ve had limited success with adding Smartink.exe to the startup items in the registry. I have seen some machines where the process starts but there is also SMARTInk-SBSDKProxy.exe and SMARTInkPriviledgedAccess.exe running at the same time, but nothing showing that the user can interact with. I’ve not been able to find what the SBSDKProxy does, every search I’ve done online just gives me loads of sites saying that it’s part of SMART and not a threat. If anyone could help would be grateful. Regards, Lewis

Hi all We recently purchased a handful of SMART MX265s and have learned that they do not currently have a screen freezing function, it's apparently a planned feature but with an indefinite release date. Our staff use this feature a lot such as when they are doing their register. We've recommended using extended desktop but this has proven problematic for some members of staff. Since the hardware doesn't support it I was wondering if anyone is aware of a software solution on Windows that we could use? Thanks.

We have 16 x SMART Board 680 with pen tray and pens and speakers if anyone would like any, all great condition. £50 per board

Having major smart ink problems in my workplace. Smart ink keeps interfering with typing and clicking in internet explorer. The only way you can stop this is if you turn off smart ink. However if you turn off smart ink you then can't use the smart interactive white boards! anyone else had this issue and has found a way to resolve this. The only way we found was to completely rebuild the pc. Thanks

I am trying to install SMART Notebook 10 software on some windows 2000 pro desktops and keep getting a windows installer V3.01.4000. 1823 issue. can anyone help here?

We've had reports from teachers that when they close smart notebook when presenting, the computer automatically locks. When I've investigated, it looks like this only happens when you are presenting on the smartboard and doesn't happen when you disconnect the board by pulling the HMDI and USB cable out. Has anyone else experienced this, or has any ideas why this might be?

Hi I have 3 Senteo Interactive handsets that still power up and show initial screen options but none of the buttons respond. I have tried "resetting" them, as per the manual, by removing the batteries and holding the power button down for 5+ seconds. No joy. Not entirely surprising if the power button isn't responding! Anyone taken one apart? Have knowledge of this issue?

I am looking into the options for the new setup of a classroom. We have normal smartboard setups in most classes but in a couple we have some of the big BenQ interactive screens. Has anyone tried the new SMART 4000 series interactive flat panels? How would you rate them compared to the BenQ and a normal projector/smartboard?

I have a school which has a 3 year old Smart Board that will not write in a straight line. No matter how steady your hand is, the line always comes out squiggly as if you have been meticulously zig-zagging across the page. I have updated the software to 11.4 (the highest the school can go to without having to go through the subscription cr*p) and oriented with 20 points and still it comes out squiggly. I told the school to get in touch with the company who installed it and when they came round, they promptly told the school the software needed updating. Call me skeptical but I feel like this is a fob off because they are trying to get the school to buy a new board. Are firmware updates to the board included with Smart 11.4? or is updating the firmware a separate process? If it is separate, how on earth am I supposed to update it as I cannot find anything obvious! Slightly Scratch the above. I have found how to update the firmware. If an upgrade is either not available or doesn't fix it. I'd welcome any suggestions as to what else I can try! Or am I going to have to face the inevitable and get them to buy a new board?

I have been trying to create a silent installer with the Install Manager. When I try to use the SMART program installer (thats an exe) that I downloaded from the website, the manager says that it is not a valid Smart installer. However, if I use the SMART installer msi, it recognizes it but every person who wants to run the installer then needs administrative privileges. How would one create an installer from the exe seeing that one does not need administrative privileges to run? Additional Info: My school uses Windows 7 os and Novell ZenWorks 11.2.2 for students to install/run software.

Hi We currently have SMARTboards in the school and use SMART Notebook 11.4. This is still running - just! One of our users is having continuous problems with the Notebook software. Keeps on freezing and she is having to load the file up again. A short disruption, but we are a special needs school so any disruption has a disproportionate affect on the children. So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Replaced the PC entirely with a brand new image (so new hardware and a new image - not the old image updated) Local Profiles so effectively a new profile as well. She is making a note every time it happens, so different classes, different files and different links and different types of links (ie not all sound files etc). Obviously SMART Notebook 11.4 is well out of support, but has the perpetual licence, so we are not breaking any licensing agreement. So do we bite the bullet and upgrade to the latest version and pay the annual costs, where they have the option to increase the prices at any time? Or can anyone recommend any other (free or cheap) software that could be used instead? We are moving to Windows 10 shortly, so definitely needs to be compatible with Windows 10. (We could always upgrade her early so it doesn't have to be compatible with Windows 7) Thanks from someone who needs to think of as cool avatar and sign-off.
