  1. Attempted to login to the site last night and got the prompt when you sign it from a new IP address and to verify. The site was saying I was accessing from 172.31.43.83 and then 172.31.5.165 later on, gave up, tried again this morning and back to normal. At the time my IP was the same it normally is.
  2. Ok little confused here. You say you can connecting to the school network via VPN so you must have internet for that to work? If you have had a change do you not just need to move the red cable from one ADVA to the other? Have you raised this with your ISP that your connection is down, surely they will be able to advise?
  3. Apologies if the wrong topic area. I am in need of some video editing software for use at home, ideally free but not found anything yet where I am piece various bits of video together, cut and trim videos and produce a final piece. I presume the likes of adding in text/pictures is the norm in most cases but just need something that does the basic job so any recommendations? I've got a bunch of GoPro and other footage I want to edit but it's not something I do much off, might have 4 or 5 videos a year in total.
  4. We use 5 and they are randomly generated but the primary method is card but we allow login via AD login, card and PIN so there is always an option if they forget one or the other.
  5. We have 40 x M290's on our sites, admitatedly most we have online at once is maybe 100 users with laptops plus AP's and other network connected devices and have no issues. So your doing to be looking at maybe 800 devices online at once? Might be just worth comparing the spec's of the next model up, also look at connectivity into your core stack too if you need fibre then its next model up. I'd use Watchguard all day long they are great used them for years, they all that the pros and con's.
  6. Stick with something similar to what she has, transfer it over, set it all up the same will be far less hassle going forward!
  7. Anyone using pfSense? Got a query need some help with. I have a WAN connection provided by Virgin Media. DHCP address that becomes WAN address. I have L2TP tunnel which gives me a (for example 1.2.3.72/29). I can use them and forward ports inbound on the relevant IP but for example I want traffic from a device to go out via say .74 so create a 1:1 NAT and even outbound NAT but it shows it as coming via the Virgin Media connection not the L2TP tunnel IP. Any suggestions?
  8. Small businesses maybe no VPN but large coporates yes I would say there is a need. Yes many things are internet first and NHS is abopting that policy but there are lots of things still need local stuff. At the end of the day AoVPN & Direct Access just sit in the background and most users are unaware!
  9. I've not been involved personally but as an orginisation, its toughened up a lot in recent years, more than just yes and no from the bits I've heard. Got to have a tight ship for it, if its the first time I don't expect you to pass it first time around in my experience. Silly little things can let you down that you don't realise. Not seen the criteria for it as its changed but go through everything 2 or 3 times.
  10. We set via GPO to use the Photo screensaver, then use a GPO to copy the files into C:\windows\folder_we_created, our marketing team have access to the folder on the server via a folder where they can copy new ones into and it updates, think there is about 5 or 6 that scroll through. Also all corporate buildings have TV screens that run the screensaver too. No extra software needed and simple setup.
  11. Why you would want to create a local user is beyond me, seen this done in so many schools and its just generating more work for you. Domain joined all the way, cached credentials to login to laptop but ideally a VPN solution, AoVPN is seemless doesn't require anything for user and they carry on the experience as in school. Offlines files again, looking for trouble, if you need something like that use OneDrive/Drive these days.
  12. Typically you will need out bound TCP & UDP 5060 + 5061 plus a range of ports UDP 9000-10000 outbound. As BT for a list of firewall ports and IP's as they will have specific ones to their platform. You can then lock it down to their IP addresses.
  13. We are a Manage Engine house, have a instannce running for our service using Service Desk Plus and then SCP (Support Centre Plus) for other teams, the plan is to move all the corporates over to this. We use Desktop Central which intergrates with SDP, one of the best products I've used over the years the 2 in combination.
  14. Yesterday was our offiical date to roll it out on any newly imaged kit. Half our team have been on it a while and to be honest I am not in any rush to reimage as what I have works. Only issue we have had are some minor ones with AoVPN but it won't affect many for the majority just down to our setup. I've got it on my new home laptop, desktop won't run it but seems good so far, nothing major found with it.
  15. I have used 3G/4G as it was then daily as my main method of connection and never had issues with speed, can pull some good speeds down at various times of the day. I have been thinking about ditching my connection and going down the 5G route at some point too does for what I need so is ideal for backup. As regards to static IP I havent found any that do but Andrews & Arnold do provide a L2TP service with static IP you could use that for 4G/5G connectivity as that is what I was going to do for what I need on a static. Maybe other companies that do this but these seem to be the key player plus I get my SIP from them.
  16. Used to do that when I was at school, one of the oldest tricks going that!
  17. I've used all sorts and installed all sorts and for me Sharp hands down have more features on them out the box than others and the UI is far more user friendly than others and they can be customised.
  18. Firstly your clients should be communicating with for example your DC as the time source and then the DC communicating externally. It may not work as the NTP protocol may be blocked outbound on the firewall so I would look at that.
  19. Has the camera changed IP? Could there be a firewall rule in place that is only allowing specific IP addresses out on SMTP?
  20. We use another product but seems like we have to recreate the VPN for it to kick in. We already do route large ranges like that but we have lots of random sites that need adding in which is the headache. Will look at that article link and go from there.
  21. Smarty?
  22. We are in the process of moving from DirectAccess to AoVPN but we seem to be going backwards. AoVPN is all up and running using split tunnelling and no issues there exepct when it comes to adding a new route. It seems we have to update the XML file, delete the connection, re add it and reconnect for it to work, just don't seem to be able to update the XML let it reconnect and away we go. We often have to add various routes in for sites that nee to come back via the DC, we want to use split tunnelling but is there a way around it, what do you lot do?
  23. We use Desktop Central, client installed on all machines, manages patches and imaging too, full connectivity to devices and if you have it internet facing you can connect to machines if users are working from home or off the network and machines still get patched.
  24. We have used KeyPass but recently installed and setup Passbolt on a server, seems ok for what we need. I use LastPass at home, cannot fault that, does the job for me.
  25. I used Andrews & Arnold at home and had no issues so far.
