Just a heads up, I've not had chance to fully investigate but might save someone some time. I have a QNAP TS-420 4 bay NAS at home, was running firmware 4.3.3.1799 till the other day when I updated to 4.3.3.1864. All went ok as usual till last night when I tried to access a share, no luck via hostname or IP. I could web into it and my phone was copying files ok to it via the app. Several reboots and no joy. No obvious things have changed although I need to review the firmware release notes again I did wonder if it was an update on the PC again no joy, so booted up a VM I have that has had nothing done to it for ages no joy which pointed to the NAS. I even enabled the second NIC and that made no difference access it that way. No luck with anything I reluctantly reverted the firmware, not something I've ever had to do and it did come with a warning that I could loose all but not the end of the world as its a backup copy of the PC at worse I would loose some images of machines I've made. Luckily the firmware brought it back to life, not sure what has changed but when I get time will be looking into, just wanted to heads up incase anyone else looks to do it over the weekend might save a few hours.

Ours turned out not to be an internet issue but iOS and MDM trying to apply profiles.

My script which I run on a scheduled task every few hour syncs what we have set and deletes any users not in AD.

Do you have any tested groups within that group as I've seen that issue before. Also what version of PaperCut you on?

I've got an iPad in the office which I'm looking at tomorrow that is having internet issues. Connected to WiFi and authenticating ok as its radius but don't know anymore till tomorrow. Got plenty of other devices working ok so wondering if mine is a one off but will post back of its a similar issue.

Do you not have the user sync set within PaperCut itself? I can check my script I run to run the process a bit more frequently when back in the office tomorrow but sure it looks different to that.

pfsense, currently running mine on an old machine but going to look to migrate to a Netgate device. Although I am currently looking at Peplink routers to use with a 5G sim but they offer multi wan. You can configure your Sky box to talk to other wireless which works fine, done that at my brothers using a Netgate/Unifi wifi combination.

We have best part of 500 AP's and various switches so will be hosted in house. Spinning another server up and patching isn't an issue. I've just never had a Linux box with open access to the www before although its restricted to ports just need to ensure they are ssecure.

I currently run a Unifi controller on Windows and to be honest its resource intensive and the update process for Unifi in the way we run it is poor and I want to move it to Linux as its far easier to update and resource wise its better. I use Linux but don't know it like Windows to be as sure on things like I would normally be. The server is internet facing tied down to ports but cannot restrict to IP's as we host some access points we manage in the big bad world. We run a few tools on Windows servers to harden them up from a security point of view but want to ensure a Linux server is as secure as can be so any recommendations?

I now look to purchase printers on their consumable costs now more than anything to ensure that originals are affordable. Last time I looked Lexmark came back at reasonable costs and they are not a bad device now, cheaper than the Xerox.

Personal issue keyboard and mice!! Always going to be a grim subject especially in a school with so many users. I've got a Logitech K310 which claims can be submerged in water and washed, I'm yet to try it but so wipe over now and again with alcohol based wipes.

I would never recommend compatible toners, you invalidate warranties and compatible toners only shorten the length of the life of printers especially the newer ones. Printers back in the old HP LaserJet 4 days were solid and could handle them but new ones you are sentencing a printer to an early death.

As a rule of thumb I pull a minimum of 2 x double power sockets and 1 x double data to a desk (covers phone & PC situation) but realistically its likely to be 3 x double power and 2 x double data, not done a fit out for a while but far easier to add in extra now than need to add more later. I have a rule no extension leads for power so go to think PC, monitor, possibly printer, phone charger and other equipment if an office environment, data wise phone, PC and printer for example (don't do USB printers if I can help it), although phone and PC or printer in that situation could be looped. Think about what could be used in the future far easier to put in now and have to run more in the future always over provision.

A patients name, address and DoB is all that A&E would need for an admission, they will be able to find the GP details and access parts of the record i.e. any medication from their system without needing to speak to a GP. It is what they call Summary Care Record, certain parts of your records are available in this instant. You details are looked up on the spine using name and DoB, rarely 2 people have same name and DoB hence the verification with the NHS number.

That is what I would do, recreating user accounts good luck with that and the hassle.

So you have your main virtual queue that stuff goes to then each printer is on the server as an output but not shared. You have 2 options, share the output queue but my advice would be to install the queue again so the queues are totally separate call it SIMS_Report for example and set your defaults etc. Share it but in PaperCut printers restrict who can actually print to it as well as on the printer queue if you wanted to. Then update GPO to map it to said group. I would not set is as default but when it comes to them printing before they launch SIMS set it as default for that run of reports unless you can tell SIMS to use a specific printer for this purpose.

Scrappies around here won't touch them as it costs them to get rid of them. Cheaper to pay the council fee around here and let them collect it.

Have you got the relevant DNS records in place for autodiscover and the other 1 or 2 that is required (can't remember them off the top of my head) if its O365.

Doctors will never tell you anything, even the Police cannot go in and just ask there is a process. If a student is absent this its for the EWO, they will have procedures in place and steps to follow if they need to go down that route in a recognised way and point of contact. I cannot see any valid reason for this to be kept. If its a medical emergency then its parents or A&E/Ambulance and they will have that information if needed. The only time that I can the information been needed if a student has complex needs but generally it would be a consultant at the hospital rather than GP from the experience I've had.

What version of office? Is the user signed into office? Outlook profile setup where the other hasnt?

Speak to your local council there will be a charge to get rid of fridges.

Handing over files to ambulance crews I would be questioning that, a summary should be enough. Summary for condition and medication which will put straight onto the EPR or paper if still paper shouldn't need more than that. The biggest thing you can do to help is NHS number (find my NHS number), that is put into system and transferred on arrival at hospital which will help speed up verifying patient and record on hospital PAS system,

Spend the money get padlocks on keyed a like locks if you already have this for doors in school should be easy to expand.
