I cannot see any reason why, there never going to tell you anything and any communication would likely be done via the school nursing team (surely) who would have that information on the system. Unless the school were to write to a GP but then school nursing team/social would be involved more than likely plus parents. Lots of employers used to ask for it but noticed it has been removed now from many places and I think those who do ask its from old because that is the way its always done. If a child were to go to hospital you only need name, DoB and they will find you and maybe address to verify. Probably more benefit collecting NHS numbers.

I recall having this issue at a school once, I think we ended up sharing out a queue to 1 MFD and certain users had rights to print direct to that which resolved the issue, saved it going in the queue to be released. Obviously be mindful where the device is when printing as it will spit them straight out but its still tracked and no additional devices needed.

When I run social media accounts I use the same tag for all, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube but I've never used official on the pages I just brand them the same. My next step would be the blue tick route if you want to make them official, looks far better in my eyes.

Why not use use a forward lookup zone and put in the IP of the DNS on that domain?

I think a Windows update has gone out this week that maybe the cause, a colleague who is using W11 did some updates today and it had a bit of a fit.

I'd get rid of any on site mail servers not worth the hassle, get it all in the cloud, if you need a relay there are other tools that can be used for it if you cannot communicate direct with O365. Why keep something on your network that needs updates etc when it can be al managed in the cloud?

So we issue staff with work phones were applicable and they are expected to use that but we cannot control our staff and what they do on personal phones for things like email. The policy does state no use but there is no control over it. Some systems when they sign in for example with email force a PIN or some sort of authenticate and allows remote wipe. You need to be clear and cover it in your IT policy if they cannot, and if they do use certain things to ensure the phone is secure and that you could wipe for example if email is on it. I can see the argument if you don't provide say a phone then they will use their phone so you need to cover your back with that.

There was issues regarding our tenant in O365 which stopped online mode been used but that appears to have been changed. What policy are you setting as we are looking to do this on a batch of machines where we have the biggest issue.

We have massive issues with Outlook ost's filling up disk space when someone just nips on to check email it could pull down 5GB on shared machines it soon fills up the space as we currently are. I spoke to a friend who told me then have ditched Outlook and all now using webmail, which for majority of users is all they need and its quicker. How do you do it? Do you use just Outlook on PC's, allow either or OWA only? Staff do have it on phones but that's not an issue it's more around desktop side.

You will be fine with Sharp and that, I've got 40 across various offices and I've installed hundreds in my previous job. Under the printers I disabled the hardware check (validate page counts) as there were issues but that may have been resolved now but is handy where real money is been used as such. I've been buying the filtered milk from Tesco lasts weeks, no smell once its at the date but does taste a bit off. The normal milks you don't seem to get long on them in some places.

What copier are you using? They do print but are held on the copier till the toner has been replaced or paper. PaperCut brought in a feature, depending on manufacturer I think but in devices in PaperCut and the Sharp devices for example tick the box that says Block the release of jobs when this device is in error, it wont let them release a print job if the toner is empty or paper issues they can then go to the next one of get it out. It's all manufacturer specific on how it works, its to do with zero stop and I will see if I can find the table I had showing what does and doesn't.

We manage our updates using Desktop Central, also is our remote tools, allows us to copy configs, add on for our MDM links to our service desk, updates work quite well there.

More than adequate if thats all the server is been used for.

Clearly they are still using them as something is in the way of an alternative method or they don't know what they method is, maybe some training is needed. If you put an obstacle in the way they will use the easiest way. Maybe you need to find some key staff and get them using a cloud method and get them to sing its praises to the rest. We banned write access to USB years ago, only read access for staff then went down the route of total ban on system unless approved and then it had to be an encrypted one, too much risk trusting users as an organisation put alternative things in place that negated the use of USB. Even just advise they can email themselves that is enough for some staff and they didn't even know they could email theirselves!

The NHS Mail option is available to all trusts, all have access to it but some won't make the move over to it fully. It's one less thing to worry about, its all O365 based now too. For years many secondary trusts were light years behind in systems but the fact certain things have to be reported in now does make them move with the times. Interesting watching the "league tables" as such come through when it comes through regarding security etc.

I use Watchguard so maybe a little biased but you can manage them centrally even from putting a template to them (local rules can be added too), we have some 40 I think across sites and have in previous jobs had some 150 out there.

Long and short is they are using it to their advantage and they are not doing anything wrong. Can be a very useful tool to get information as a member of the public.

I've used Prism & Cannon in the past in varying sizes, mainly Cannon and cannot fault them. On the bigger floor standing ones I have found equipment to fit better in some than others, Dell kit seems to be a bit particular when racking that up.

My first thoughts here would be Inventry especially with MIS link. The mention about "sign in app" we use that where we work now, the app on phones is create to use, its web based, staff who are fire wardens are given permission for evac list so can check people off. As regards to the education side not seen that work as I am not in education anymore. They are all much of the same, Osborne Technologies so EntrySign, I've worked with their IT team before, they had a good product too but their hardware let it down a few years ago, again they are all similar, see if the product offers what you have and what the disadvantages/advantages are over each one.

Why we host our own stuff and have a data centre will failover in that we have full control of.

Faulty line or equipment it sounds like but could be be duplicate IP address on the external interface, rare but seen it happen. Does it cut out at the same time each time?

I'm stuck with this one, I need to restrict local printer addition but allow users to map via \\machine\share but don't seem to have much luck. I can stop printers been added but now allow a shared one to work, years ago by default it was stopped but now they allow any printer to be added. Any suggestions?

One reason I have a dual fuel cooker least I can warm stuff up on the gas hob if the electric is out. I'm considering solar and battery storage not that I can afford to yet but if I can come off grid by just a bit its some help towards reducing my foot print, yes in the dead of winter might not be able to heat the heating but might still be able to function to some degree.

Jackery power banks have been recommended, some have input for solar panels too. There is another brand but I cannot find it at the moment, I've been looking into one of these for going away, we have a LPG generator we can use but its loud when camping so has to go off at 11.
