  1. On the device setting in PaperCut you need to select swipe card rather than ID number. The Biostore reader is effectively a USB card reader.
  2. Can you create a mailbox and share the contacts like you would a calendar and access it that way? I cannot think of any other suitable way forward.
  3. They have been very unlucky with both cables been broken. For the majority inland most will probably never experience unless something major happens to exchange or a major head end in the VM network. Now the exception for this is Hull on the KCom network, there is diverse routing and now other providers are available in the city but in the last 2 years KCom in Hull has been hit by 2 major outages which I've personally experienced, one been the other week with a City Fibre break at Wetherby and then about 2 years ago there similar somewhere that way on as well which took down half of the network if not all in some instances. For me technology does break, if it happens nice to have a bit of downtime from it all personally.
  4. Create new server, promote it up and check its replicating. Move DNS & DHCP and let things settle and remove roles off old one. Remember to update anything that uses DNS statically and update DHCP scope with relevant DNS enteries and things like firewall, switches etc. Then after a week or so demote the old one after ensuring all roles such as GC are transfered over.
  5. Forget the surveys, go speak to teams in person at their team meetings, introduce yourself, I get far more honest responses by having a face to face chat.
  6. Wierd though, never seen anything like it before. Don't get why the switch has done what it has though, its one of them things that doen't get touched and it was setup years ago so no one can remember if there was issues in the past.
  7. Got this working via the switch buts its really wierd. Plugged it into another switch (a Dell one) and it came up, flow control disabled on the DIA port, plugged back into the switch we had no joy. On the VLAN we had setup for 2 other random ports and plugged in and it came up even though those ports were the same as the one initially setup. Not sure if switch needs a kick but came up, even tried with a crossover which made no difference.
  8. So looks like your download if nearly the best you can get. I'd review the network internally but if internet is a requirement for the charity I would be looking to upgrade to something faster.
  9. Cannot see attachment. If its 2 portacabins I would expect 1 AP in each should cover it, maybe 2 one at each end. Could be they are currently both pumping out on the same channel and there is interferance causing the slow issues? Do a test on wired and see what you get. I'd be looking at the internet and going from there but looking at putting in a better router to handle it all, even something like a Netgate 4100 running pfsense, get both connections setup to that.
  10. I would expect more than 40. Might be worth checking your line here. For WiFi are you just replying on the router or do you have access points?
  11. Firstly how many users are using it at one time, anything else running in the background i.e. website or mail server. What speed do you currently have, what is your exact package?
  12. Said cable works in laptop so that is a known working cable, I've used straight through on laptop to laptop, didn't think a crossover would be needed but can try it.
  13. It's disabled on our end, would need to speak to ISP to confirm their end. That had crossed my mine but they are modern. The exact cable works straight into a laptop or firewall so had ruled that out.
  14. Just looked at config, spanning tree is disabled on this switch in question.
  15. I think a recent update has possibly caused issues, got similar issues here as nothing else has changed.
  16. Cheers for the recommendations, when I get time I will look at that, it was recommended by a few people so I do have a download of it already.
  17. Good question I don't know, I know it goes direct into the core so suspect its a router. I will look into that next week when I am back in.
  18. It's just another day for me, it's no longer Christmas for me, the only thing that is worth it for me is spending time with my friends and their family, eating and drinking loads. As for work, I'd rather work through the night, less people around!
  19. The carrier presents at a patch panel and the equipment is located in another cabinet which is on their core network, we have a cabinet in their data centre. The switch goes direct to their kit. If the cable is plugged into the firewall or a laptop it works but not when on 2 untagged ports on a swtich. Set to auto speed, also tried forcing but no joy. Spoke to network engineer today and they cannot see any issue with anything, other than taking another switch down to test I am out of ideas.
  20. The major incident was still open with Nasstar just after dinner, speaking to ISP today there have been a few issues which ended up been a major incident. Having checked Nasstar and TalkTalk status pages all seems good at the moment.
  21. We have a new DIA connection by our ISP that we have an issue with and wondered if anyone had come accross it before, I've seen similar issues on FTTC before when using the Openreach modem but not exactly the same in this. We have a 1GB connection that works if a device i.e. firewall or laptop is configured on the end but if we put a switch in the middle with say 2 VLAN'd ports (untagged) it doesn't work, tried changing speed on ports but no joy. Clearly something switch related but scratching my head, do have ISP ticket logged but not heard back yet. We have a firewall cluster that we will need to use a switch for, yes its a single point of failure but we have something in place for that. Any suggestions?
  22. We had a blip on some of our offnet Kcom connections last night which are Nasstar but were all back up this morning, they are FTTC ones and not uncommon to blip over night, see if we have any more in the morning.
  23. Getting a lot on my VM connection at home from this range too.
  24. That's fine, its all sorted the following morning just wanted to make you aware just incase you wasn't.
