Will look at DISM option to put into the WIM. Current devices - the powershell for me has been hit and miss hence looking at options.

I looked at that option, it gets stripped on sysprep. I even looked at pnpuil and injecting it but very mixed results on that one, some it would work, others it wouldn't. I will see if we can do anything with OS Deploy. I started looking at Print Deploy but I am unable to download the capture tool to do a test run, this might work better for us but the whole thing is pulling what hair I have left out.

When I was installing copiers and replacing like for like I wouldn't bother updating drivers, they worked with old ones and in fact we still use an older driver for our new machines. Put the same IP on and you can be up and running in a few minutes. With all the issues recently type 3 drivers don't seem to deploy and then you loose functions as type 4 is your universal one.

It doesn't make any sense now to have local Exchange instances, the time and maintenance for them is not worth the hassle, move it all to O365. Even if its a large orginisation O365 the way forward, issues like this just highlight it. More chance of this happening to small places, but to behonest any Exchange server is a risk.

The license would still work but the reconfig of all devices i.e. the copiers would be where you would potentially run into issues unless you are farmillar with what needs doing on them. I dont know Ricoh devices but Sharp its easy to sort, not sure if Ricoh is just a case of web on and change the IP.3 My advice would still stand and if possible, although doesn't sound it this time do above then give the new server the same IP as the old if possible then devices don't need reconfiguring. A fresh start with PaperCut unless you are clused up in PaperCut I would not recommend, there is a lot of work when it comes to some devices. You can run 2 instances side by side or you could, I know PaperCut now talks back for licensing so it may detect that.

Since all the print nightmare stuff deploying printers via GPO without the reg change (which then leaves a vulnerability) doesn't work for me. Does anyone have a solution, and not to install it manually, I want to go back to an automated solution to 1 save engineering time and 2 for a seemless experience for users. We are a PaperCut MF user so I've had a look at print deploy this afternoon and think this could work, does anyone else use it? We literally add users to an AD group, a GPO then applies if they are a member and on a specific IP range it will map said printer, nothing too fancy. Thoughts and feedback on print deploy or other working methods.

My advice would be when doing any server migration, get PaperCut tidy and how you want it, any print queues that are redundant get rid and remove the old drivers, run PaperCut update so its on latest version. Next run a backup of PaperCut and take a copy of that, also in Print Management backup the queues to a file which you can then restore it saves the work. Next restore your printer backup and then install the same version of PaperCut on new server then restoring your database (check the KB for the commands on this). If you dont trust the config install from scratch but as you already have a working version tidy and sort that out saves the headache for starting from scratch. The backup will restore the license file at the same time. I've migrated hundreds of print servers and its easier to do it that way to save you time. Spend the time to get the config right it will work in your benefit.

Got to the bottom of this, there was some fault which was resolved but Sophos network threat protection via their Intercept X product has throttled network connection so going from a gig to just shy of 200 meg, turn that off you get gig!! There is a bug which is waiting a patch to resolve this, one to watch out for.

We use Sign In App in a corporate environment and its spot on, app on phone to allow you to sign in too also can do it based on geolocation too but does zap phone battery. I set mine to prompt me to sign in at certain times as well as sign out on the days I am in the office.

Seperate VLAN which is transparent and let them connect, dont worry about their proxy settings, I suspect when their VPN connects unless their proxy is internet facing it will take care of it. I would be supplying a WiFi only and any config issues on the device is for their IT to sort.

If they are supplying licensing for copiers you must have support with it, what does you date day in the license section under about? You should have licensed users and devices/connectors and any other modules you have then the software updates which means you can update PaperCut. If you go to help there will be reseller information see if its a different email/phone number to what you have.

If you are getting device licenses through the copier lease get them to provide support & maintenance for PaperCut, it gets messy very quickly and to be honest I doubt PaperCut would allow 2 companies to deal with your license.

Mines no different at home. Only time it was all good was when I messed with the NAT but it was too exposed for what I needed so restricted it again and its been fine since.

You say massive MAC address sounds like your getting confused with IPv6 address. Is the MAC address not on the back of it or the box it came in? Can you say tether it to your mobile phone and look into the hotspot menu and get the MAC address there is you are really struggling?

Untag the port on the switch to the relevant VLAN and it will work.

VPN and RDP using company owned device. The thing with AnyDesk and TeamViewer is if these platforms get hacked your server is comprimised. If you need to be working from home you shoudln't be using your home computer, should be a work provided device and you shouldn't be installing VPN software on your machine as you could transmit any nastys you may pick up on your PC. Cover your back work laptop with VPN on. AoVPN is best option.

I don't contribute but I do pay for 360 Radar find it better than some of the free ones. One of the lads at work contributes and gets his free. Phil the bloke who runs it has just bought out a new version so if you are mobile rather than having to let your long/lat each time using a GPS it does it automatically. I'm yet to set my own up but it is on my list.

I haven't touched Biostore in ages but from the 2 or 3 installs I did I remember that they had to be configured using a USB and it created a config file, not sure if you had to put the IP of the copier in. Have a look at these 2 articles might help. This and this. Some of other other articles might help, like I say its ages since I've touched it but remember having to configure them. I've not got any notes anymore so can't remember what I exactly did.
