National Grid Outage: Are you ready?
PotNoodleTech replied to psydii's topic in How do you do....it?
Well I am ready at home been building this up for the last two years - all essential loads battery backed up should be able to last a week, longer if it's sunny. There's always plugging in a small honda type genny if needed. School wise, not a chance in hell. Given what we regularly pull on 3 x 200amp phases we'd need a football field or two's worth of solar pannels and enough batteries to make elon musk rich, or just a gynormous CAT generator the size of an artic lorry. All three of those are things schools can not afford. So - schools will all be down, your BT exchange will go down after a day without power, and your petrol pumps will cease to work and generally society will descend into an ape like structure. Whether you can get into SIMS or reset a password in google will be the least of your worries IMHO. -
Not sure to be honest - I usually get wonde to remote in to a session where they can view the VM of the server - they've always sorted stuff out quite quickly. I wonder if it's a filtering issue - you checked that the dilter has not changed and all the Wonde URLs ports whatever are still allowed?

Might be worth going into the raid controller and checking theres no serious errors? It sounds a bit "hardware issue" weird.

Its for graphics cards really most will take a 6 or 8 pin PCIE.

Sounds more like the local profiles for the users have been deleted - have you got any software running or GPO settings set that are cleansing the profiles of previously logged on users? -
Ah the company that buries it's head in the sand and pretends it's own data breeches don't happen looking after even more MIS data. Great.

I do not go near touchscreen chroembooks wth a barge pole as you can not get replacement screens for them easily, and if you can get them they're stupid money (50-100% of the price of a new CB). So for a 1:1 deployment, touchscreen is a really bad idea unlesss you like throwing large piles of unrepairable chromebooks out.

I am suprosed you've had no perfromance benefit at all?? I just got lucky and picked up a 4070 for 350 locally. Happy as it's 20-30% faster than my old 3070 founders and it has extra 4gb Vram for the future. I did think about the 5060ti but didnt think it would be faster than the 4070 and seems a bit buggy at the moment? -
Bodet clock/lockdown and Switch config issues
PotNoodleTech replied to Andycat's topic in Wired Networks
Sadly I've got 30+ forced on my by the LA. Yuk. If existing wiring was it decent cat6 shielded or random old cat 5 drops that were lying around? Anything PoE should really be cat6 shielded. What about Vlans you sure you got the right vlans on those ports? -
Trying to figure out what phone line is for!
PotNoodleTech replied to SPM99's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Few ideas based on schools around here. Old main office or reception phone. Check the rooms that used to be used for those purposes. Old fax machine. Try and find out where the fax machine used to be as that was guarunteed to have it's own phone line. Fire Alarm Burgler Alarm Line to caretakers house? What's weird to me is that it's ringing. If there was nothing plugged in or the cable had been chopped I wouldnt expect it to ring on! -

Filtering Interactive Boards?
PotNoodleTech replied to Driftingashore's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
As unautnenitcated device it get's strict pupil filtering from the LA smothwall, as all unauthenticated devices should. -
I guess you need to work out if the duplication existed in the previous system (I doubt it as you would have noticed having multiple wrong contacts) or if it happened during bromcoms migration period. If that's the case I would push for bromcom to fix it as they've obviously messed something up or imported something twice by accident?

Very Good cheers Boss!!
