My general rule of thumb is, if you unplug the battery and the chromebook still works when plugged in, then it is the battery at fault. If the chromebook doesnt work even with the battery unplugged then it could be either the charger itself, or power section on the motherboard.

Just take the total value of your equipment that needs replacing and divide by the number of years your gonna keep it going. E.g. 840 * 300 / 7 = 36000 So your gonna need 36,000 a year approx ot keep your fleet running. And that's just PC base units! Now youve got a figure you can warn them that if they start giving you £20k a year it's obvious that things are gonna go down hill.

FMS migration - access to data beyond migration

This is shocking - but like I have said before everything in the last 24 months is all a cash grab from a company with a dying product. -

Yes I believe that is what they are aiming for. Mediocrity as the benchmark for all schools to aspire too. -

Esports Local Authourity Filtering and Firewall issues
PotNoodleTech replied to PotNoodleTech's topic in Esports
The irony though Gareth is that WG are pimping e-sports left right and centre and have even set up an e-sports in school quango for all the schools that still can't do e-sports becaue local authorities are inept. I did almost post on every welsh gov esports tweet but that would probably get me sacked. -

SIMS Connected - Avcosystems Migration Application
PotNoodleTech replied to rossibIT's topic in MIS Systems
Also regarding the S drive you do get an S drive when you are on SIMS connected, it is on their servers rather than on your own network but works in the same way. Theres an upload and download button where you can get stuff on or off the new sims connected S drive onto your PC. It's clunky but it just about works. -
Yo Gamers. From what I can see the biggest barrier to Esports take up in schools other than PCs without graphics cards, is the LA not being able to cater for the Games etc with their firewall and filtering. This has led to big delays in schools I know where they've tried to get it working, wated weeks/months then had to get their own broadband line in not using the usual filtering which is risky from my point of view. Discuss. Do LAs need to get with the times?

So whats the easiest way of getting ZFS running then? -
What are they using? E.g. with dreamweaver you can put the ftp details in so you can easily upload or download / publish pages. Either way I wouldnt use a personal FTP site for anything to do with school so maybe set up a seperate school FTP somehow - might be possible to use your existing school website for this?

PrimarySite website migration to Juniper CMS
PotNoodleTech replied to BlueSkies's topic in Web Development
Understood, in that case you will always have to pay and always be at the mercy of whatever company you choose. The previous company were excellent for years, until they got taken over/bought out. Same could happen to your new company. -

Yep I won't be here. This will have a negative impact on teaching and learning. After 24 years of being proud having a positive impact on teaching and learning, I am not being part of it and am happy to work in burger king instead. -
PrimarySite website migration to Juniper CMS
PotNoodleTech replied to BlueSkies's topic in Web Development
Personally I would look at doing it myself for free to avoid this kind of thing happening again - google sites or Wix or something. The good thing is you can start building it right now get most of the pages done and ready and then cancel the old website and say "screw you moneygrabbing idiots"!!! -
SGWorld Vis-IT Installation Files – Help Needed!
PotNoodleTech replied to johnn's topic in How do you do....it?
If they're happy to throw you under the bus like that then the only way to teach them a lesson is move....... to something more modern like Entrysign or the like. It seems like they've been using the same tactics of not giving the software out so you have to pay them for at least the last 8 years...... I despise companies like that. -
What RAID setup do you use in your school?
PotNoodleTech replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2022
Cool - insult everyone that doesnt use ZFS. Some of us are sitting back chuckling at all the people running Windows 2025 DCs and having their entire network go down due to DHCP bugs etc. Some peeps want to be on the bleeding edge and that's cool, some people know what works well and just sit back and admire their 100% uptime. That's cool too. There's room for both!! -
