  1. You buy a 20 quid licence like you do for all the other chromebooks.
  2. I guess the market is poeple who cant hire IT techs for 24k/yr or it managers for 30k/yr. So there's plenty of potential market judging by the state of our jobs forum.
  3. Hmm that's an interesting one, we've fitted them all around other than DT at the mo (theyre summer term) and have nt had any complaints about latency or nor being able to draw properly?
  4. It is clunky. Freedom is often clunky TBH the JAMF price is not bad!!
  5. There's not really much you can do. It's up to the teacher in each classroom to manage that class as per their professional responsibility/guidelines. It is up to the SLT/Head in each school to ensure each teacher manages their classroom effectively. Don't fall down the rabbit hole of making it your problem and running around all day chasing things. It's not your personal money so just buy some more.
  6. Could it be a third party disguising emails to look like your sign in system? "Click here if you do not recognise this visitor and download this PDF witha virus in it" If so that's pretty worrying. Have you reported it to Inventry?
  7. Hi All thanks for the replies. I've got 3 months left till my contracts terminated so I don't mind helping out as frankly none of us asked for this we're all just passengers. It does appear that most suggestions and things I've read and the post here mean that any pupils that are here now and will be going to the other school just need their data transferred as per the usual way (CTF etc). Ex pupils and historic data from my school appear to become the responsibility of the LA (not the new school). Sadly as the LA moved us to SIMS connected we no longer have access to our own database etc, so me doing the backups to USB drives as suggested is no longer possible. The LA may have to keep the ESS contract running side by side until they have transferred everything or possibly engage ESS in a transfer/migration process of some sort. keep your suggestions coming in!!
  8. More often than not, Reason 0 is a database error of some kind - so as your on SIMS connected and have no control over the database any more you'll just need to put a support call in.
  9. Thanks. It's the head and Data Manager I am helping out - none of us have been through anything like thisbefore or ever had to think about it really!
  10. It's LA school not a MAT thanks. There's no insolvency firm here. The more replies the better! Thanks!
  11. Hi All I am completely out of my depth here as I have only ever worked in one school and never had to deal with anything like this. My school is closing. The pupils that would have gone to my school in Sept are all going to the school up the road. Thats easy to understand. I've been asked what happens / what should we do to SIMS data on my school once it closes, particularly safeguarding/exam etc data which may need to be somehow kept for future use by exam boards, gov agencies etc. So heres the big Q for you guys that have been through closures/mergers. What do you do with the SIMS data from the old school? Do you transfer all historic parent/pupil/exam/link docs over the the new school? Di you just let the old SIMS DB end? Were on SIMS connected now so someones got to pay somewhere or that data is going to dissapear at some point. What are the laws on what an old non existant school that's been closed, needs to keep? Cheers
  12. Run Mosyle Free for 70 ipads here. Does the job. If i had hundreds of ipads I'd probably want something more $fully $featured but for £free it does the job well!
  13. Blimey wish I hadn't asked now
  14. If your tendering for a Cloud MIS, SIMS Connected is not a Cloud MIS (Windows Server RDP is NOT cloud, it's just hosted). Therfore they may not need to even be on your tender list?
  15. Ours hasnt even sent an email out saying there's anything wrong yet.
  16. Hmm i wonder if this will be a free update.
  17. Guys be REALL carefull Capita/ESS have used this type of technique before to try and get schools to accidentally sign up to new contracts etc outside of their LA SIMS support team. DO NOT CLICK AGREE TO ANYTHING YET! 😕
  18. Don't panic about it - it's happening country wide I've checked with a couple of LA areas here. ESS have obviously screwed something up or clicked the wrong box. Contact your LA if your an LA school as they should be dealing with SIMS licencing for you.
  19. Personal phone = personal responsibility to charge it. Also Safeguarding mandates you shouldn't be touching looking at or in any way handling a pupil phone.
  20. Hmm interesting. They don't seem to "hold" any information about anything at all do they! They say they don't hold any data on "The mandatory features of the Hwb platform, including any tools or services that schools are required to use." Yet personalised assessments for literacy and numeracy are mandatory are they not, we are required to use them, and can not be completed on a third party platform? I have an email from them from 7 years ago saying: "Since the announcement that the Online Personalised Assessments were to be delivered via Hwb, issuing Hwb user details to learners is now mandatory in order to allow them to access the tests (from September 2018)."
  21. So whats the parents doing about it? Grounding her? Throwing her £1000 iphone in the bin? Nothing?
  22. Sadly this is just symptomatic of the general decline in society. Given that no ones alowed to impart discipline on the youth of today it's only gonna get worse and worse. Punishing schools for permanently excluding children was one of the worst "behaviour" mistakes they could have made. There's now no ultimatem. No final straw. Just keep on misbehaving.
  23. No CC4 here but double check the actual share permissions (the permissions on the share itself not the folder structure underneath)
  24. As above try and in place upgrade first as forcing it to Server 2022 is highly likely to cagole the windows updates into working again.
  25. Most chromeooks come with 64GB some with 128GB if your paying a bit more. (256GB is quite rare assuming your trying to keep it at under £500 per chromebook)
