  1. Thats a weird one - i've been restoring individual files from VMs for well over a decade with Veeam on both Vmware and Hyper-V. Must be something to do with the way you've set the jobs/servers up?
  2. Hi just learning about this now - all new to me. The hashes sounds like a pain the the behind - have you automated that somehow so it outputs all the PCs into one CSV? Manually doing it on 500 pcs sounds nasty.
  3. When your spending more on a "pouch" than buying an actual 1:1 chromebook for the pupil to learn in and out of school - you know the education system is truly lost.
  4. Congratulations welcome to intune
  5. The delete option dissapears after 5 or 10 minutes after posting.
  6. yes the modern look and feel of sites is to make everything look the same including pinned threads 😕
  7. Theyre stuck threads? Stuck thread always stay at the top even if theyre 10 years old? Is that what you mean?
  8. Best way I've found to deal with Veeam and multiple copy jobs is to actually make sure you have a decent amount of HDD storage on the veeam server - the initial backup job gets stored on the veeam server itself. Then you can use multiple backup copy jobs to actually farm the backup out to various places be that tertiary NAS boxes around the school, storage in antoher school or LA, or upload to cloud storage. Been doing that for best part of a decade and jobs just run perfectly every day. If you skip that local backup to local veeeam server you miss out on having that bonefide super fast dead cert working backup whch all other backup can copy to and reference from. Your then relying on disparate devices and possibly internet connections to hope the backup manages to finish successfully rather than just taking a quick copy from existing good data.
  9. DPO HEAD LA (or trust) LEGAL TEAM ICO Frankly I would consider anything in myconcern to be integral to the running of the school, thus the parents request would not be actionable...but.... ...I am not a lawyer - you need a Lawyer for this kind of crazy
  10. Darn those bots im just trying to get from A to B!!!
  11. been getting this every now and again when clicking the unread content button in the top right - but th rest of the site seems to work fine and if you try once or twice it works. Almost like some kind of database timeout?
  12. No not had official training but theres some good youtubers with Onshape tutorials TooTallToby is a good one https://www.youtube.com/@TooTallToby/videos
  13. Yes if you can get rid of local storage that makes things so much easier to run at scale = swap out the device as long as the user can log on successfully they'll get all their stuff. Thats why we moved to google and chromebooks as back then no one else was doing that kind of thing. and I tell you what even though you now have intune etc google is far superior from an end user and IT admin point of few. Few clicks and it just works, as in our case workig day in day out for over a decade. Teachers teach, learners learn - devices are fast and easy to onboard, doesnt matter what they use a PC/ipad/chromebook they can teach and learn successfully. MS and Apple are waaaaay behind on that. The MS people will disagree. the apple people will diagree. they're both wrong 😛
  14. Yeh I thought it may not work for your scenario unless it can be forced to work. I use mine as an additional second factor I stil prefer to always use password and a second factor - it has proven very useful occasionally such as when my phone suddenly died and I lost that text message and ms authenticator in one fell swoop. Could still get on with my Fido. I think all admins should have one as an emergency (that can also be used on the daily) I've linked it in to everything even facebook etc etc.
  15. If you want to write a case study / blog post on here, on choosing an MIS that would be cool. Thanks
  16. Hi what MIS and finance software did you compare other than Bromcom?
  17. Can you do anything with FIDO security keys for just the windows login itself so at least you've got a physical device needed to act as a second factor? I am saying this but no idea if it is possible in your scenario. I love my Fido key.
  18. Hmm have the DT department looked at alternatives? Nothing else out there is as easy to use as 2d design - it's something of a perfect size porrage bowl that can't be replaced easily. Ours have been using onshape and autodesk online for 3d stuff but that doesnt really do what 2d design does.
  19. And apple! Its built in - black icon with white and blue speech bubble.
  20. Yeh we only use the offline version of apple translate on totally offline ipads. Downloaded the few language packs online before taking it offline. It works for what our exams officer wants (text translation, and photo OCR translation only) but I can see it could become problematic if you want to use any of the more advanced stuff. Havent found anything else useful most of the other tranlsators need to be fully online anyway. I think google translate has an offline mode on ipads but not sure how much that cuts down the functionality.
  21. Yes apps that can incur itunes purchases are a big problem. We dont allow itunes sign ins on ours and so all apps need to be purchased (even if they are free) on apple school manager. We've come across the above and couldnt really find a way of using the app.
  22. Hi if you've moved to SIMS connected this would usually be done as part of the migration - here the SIMS migration peeps did a remote on to a server I had prepared and got the server reading and writing to the SIMS connected DB and then also helped get Wonde and a few other programs connected by putting in the database deets user pass etc into the various data transfer apps. All works. Can you go back and see if they wil restrospectively remote in and give you a hand?
  23. Ah I get you. is it possible that that pupil does have a hearing impediment of some sort? If you've tested them and they sound fine then that is all that's required but if the pupil has some ear issues then that would need to be diangoised so they can get special treatment. I mean it could literally just be ear wax a lot of people with ear wax dont realise what their ears are actually supposed to sound like till it's profesinally removed?
  24. Generally they're done in one room here with speakers and a cd player. That way the pupils cant mess around, pause etc.
  25. If you "claim your biusiness" and go through all the verification etc then you can do whatever you want on the google search bit.
