Also contact your local authority visual impariement unit they will often have info and equipment that may help or if the imparement is serious enough - they might even take on the pupil and provide 1:1 support in lessons etc.

Theres not much you can do really you either accept it's play store reuirements or you don't use it. We've had a few I've said no to as they've literally been asking for everything under the sun.

Great idea. Brings back some memories. I Had a Matrox Millenium II to go along with the Voodoo. Then I had a Matrox Millenium G200 and 2 x Voodo 2 in SLI. Does anyone remember upgrading to the new Riva TNT card? It was a downgrade to the SLI Foodoo 2 in terms of FPS - but it was all on one card that had excellent 2d features. That was basically the start of Nvidia back in the day.

Aruba forced on me by LA. I don't rate them at all - theyre slower, less reliable, more finnicky, difficult to manage than my 15 year old old Procuve switches, so...... no progress made by that manufacturer. If i was starting from scratch in a school now I would probably look at Unifi as they're getting more enterprise ready by the day and very easy to manage - the interface was already great 5 years ago last time I ran a unifi fleet.

I think if you want to get into programming you need to enjoy maths. It's a similar thing. So if you hate maths like I did, then you probasly will hate programming like I did when they made me do Java in uni. I think you've really got to love it and be super interested in it.

Hi we are getting it too - I thought it was a billing issue our end and am checking with the finance team have invoices been paid etc - but it's very interesting to hear of another school in the country getting it!!! Maybe it's not a billing issue after all!

The sad thing is, anything that a school is throwing out thats 10+ years old probbaly is worthless. Unless you wanna go down the legally dubious road of trying to sell your school stuff on ebay etc - you're probably gonna have to take the lower offers from the big refurb places. I personall thought it was better to have that low amount of money and buy some chromebooks with it than the leave it rot in a cuboard. out of interest what models you getting rid of?

Hmm that's a tough one to walk in to. My advice as others have said above set up a quick and dirty MDT/WDS server and get a Windows 11 image on it and the main apps that you need. (it's technically obsolete and unsuppoprted but it is BY FAR the fastest and most reliable way to reimage potentially hundreds of PCs). You can literally reimage 30+ PCs per hour. Second thing you need to do is to not bodge windows 10 any longer or you'll be doing the school a disservice - forget LTSC etc - the school HAS TO move to Win 11 they can't keep burying their head in the sand as they appeared to have for the last 10 years. You are the person that has to wake them up from this long slumber. Buy new Lenovo/Optiplex PCs that support Win 11. If budget is super tight go second hand/refurbished from places like ICT Direct bargain Hardware etc. Then roll out Win 11 on to all the existing half decent, and new/refurbished PCs. That will stand you in good stead as a first step. You can then spend more time looking at everything else to see what else needs upgrading/replacing. Eventually do a full audit of what you got, when when it EOLs

If your still using Vmware then you've been burying your head in the sand - get your credit cards out and get the credit limits increased as you're gonna be monumentally screwed over on contract renewal. I dumped Vmware years ago as soon as they got rid the he large edu discounts and went comercialised - because we couldnt afford those price increases back then - but that is nothing compated to what Broadcom are gonna do to you guys. It reminds me of when Oracle took over sun microsystems - 10x'd the support costs 10x's the licences and insisted on multi thousand pound site audits absoutly smashing existing customers in the wallet, driving their entire cutsomer base away and then destroying the company. I literally read all the PR, got a quote from Oracle then told them to shove it bought £10k of Dell Poweredge and threw all the Sun stuff in the WEEE skip. Very sad end to an amazing company. I honestly think Brroadcom are going to kill vmware in exactly the same way.

Have you asked them for a deployable version?? If they have 2200 edu establishments on board then the must have figured out a way to install it in those 2200 establishments??

We use Photopea on chromebooks in the art dept it's more aimed at images but does do drawing I believe too.
