Running 86" screen here and the image quality is sooooo much better. I mean literally no one has ever come in and asked for a projector and screen back? Theres no denying that older style IWB and projectors were very reliable assuming you cleaned the filters etc.

So have you contacted HP support? That is if you have a current support contract on the unit. If not I guess your on your own and hopefully some edugeekers that own those SANS will join in.

It's always been like that. Forcing everything to be stored on drive is an admin console setting. If you don't turn that on then stuff will still be stored on the chromebook?

Also you can block the personal device in users > open the pupil user > Managed Devices

not true, on personal googles a lot of data stil gets stored on the device, including app data from within play store apps. Some auto store in drive, some don't. It's risky to nuke it. As it's someone elses property I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole due to Safeguarging/GDPR best practice that's been drilled into us over the years about not touching pupil personal devices. I certainly wouldnt nuke it from orbit.

Regardless of the individual policy wrangling - one sure fire way to remain saf(er) would be to only use copilot/gemini on your own MS/google tennancies which are already in EU/UK and already comply with GDPR. As soon as you pick a.n.other AI comany to use you're putting yourselves at greater risk of GDPR shinanegans.

Nah in the old days you had to buy all new licences and support contracts etc or pay for upgrade licences when you wanted to go to a totally new version e.g. C2 to CC3 to CC4.

Well that is useful for schools that are CC4 and are totally cash strapped. Win win for RM as they get to look like they're doing you a favour whilst they lock you in to £££ support contracts for another 5 + years

The LA can't mandate what MIS or Finance software you use, that area deligated to school governing bodies and headteachers. What they can mandate is a specific file type for any financial information data transfers they need, e.g. CSV or PDF. One thing to note - if you do leave SIMS and keep FMS they will screw you on your renewal so you'll be paying about the same just for FMS as you were when you were paying for SIMS too. Ideally you need to dump both.

They are marking third party exams for a third party and getting paid (seperatly from your school) for it. They can use their own laptop not school property.

The legacy licence was a perpetual licence with an upfront purchase cost and then a low support cost yearly. Sadly you've missed the boat on that you can only get the new style yearly repeated infinite/ever increasing costs. Sad really. I am keeping my 10+ year old legacy veeam going for like £400 a year support cost.

I might be wrong but I don't think thats an azure thing - it's a windows O/S thing. You can only expand the C drive using disk management or diskpart if there are no other partitions behind it. I think you can use third party apps to do it - back in the old days it was partition magic not sure if thats still a thing. I only create one partition per dedicated virtual disk so never get the problem of multiple partitions appearing behind.

Hmm i have not tested the difference to be honest, it may be that you can only invite your own tennants through the invite button. Try the classcode and see if the same people can get on in that.

Maybe - I think the UPS brigade are stuck 20 years in the past to be honest, the same kinda attitude that told me "my god you can't run SSDs in a server" over a decade ago. Now they're all running SSDs too. Given that I am running my entire house including applieances and PCs and 3d printers and my laser cutter on (much) bigger versions of these now it makes me laugh when people say they're not capable of doing a good job powering your switches or servers that are using a few hundred watts here and there.

Problem is there are not many super compact MATX cases - most of the really small/cute/cool ones are ITX.
