Hmm I am not so sure your right. I've had more dowtime with cloud stuff in general than I ever had with my own fileservers. MS was down last week, SIMS down, classhcarts down, there are constant issues with cloud services almost every day of every week. I recon Mav's right.

Looks like all Welsh LAs are going to be forced to move their schools to HWB intune etc so I wouldn't go spending thousands on third party options as the HWB takeover is literally imminant.

I dont think you can even install flex on a chromebook. But yeah once the gogole update expires they are effectively EOL and won't pass any cybersecurity audit/certification/insurance. We just get ours recycled sadly. Mind you with the 1:1 the devices are pretty much decrepid if they manage to last to EOL.

Sounds like your not on a goverment framework contract as they tend to have everything included. Next time get on a framework direct with a reputable tier 1 manufacturer, by manufacturer I mean the company that makes the actual copiers not random third party companies who'se job it is to just skim extra money off you.
-
Ah ok that's not a good situation to be in. This is why I always go for contracts direct from the manufacturer - always had staples waste toner bottles, toners of course, and all other bits included in the contract then.
-
Got ricoh copiers here and Ricoh pick up the toners in a special box no issues or quibbles for free. Try your photocopier manufacturer they may offer it for free too!
-
Can you not log in to your kyocera portal click the printer and order consumables you need for it? That's what we can do in our Ricoh portal?

Why replace the existing SSDs? or are they still on spinning rust hard drives? You can pick 64 or 128gb SSDs up cheap as chips on the used market so if you need them bung in 128Gbs and they should be fine.

In my opinion Dell Poweredge are the best overall. It's an opinion and we all have them. But based on 25 years experience. (When I picked up the last set of HP servers I thought they were gonna fold in half they were so light/thin.) And as a brucie bonus they are readily available on the refurbished market so save yourself 60% get them for peanuts and take advantage of a fortune 500 companies stupidity.

Eh? So your using the PC as a server like we used to do in the bad old days before we all decided that was a really bad idea (unreliable, less secure, no redundnacy, etc) So what your saying is you do need a server?

PrimarySite website migration to Juniper CMS
PotNoodleTech replied to BlueSkies's topic in Web Development
Judging by the shocking "ESS tactics" juniper have been using over the last few months i would create a google site pronto and dump them like a sack of the proverbial. If you don't you're gonna end up paying through the nose for various things in the future and being locked into various contracts. -

Some funny posts - for me I can see both sides. On the one hand running a server in a cuboard somewhere is archaic, but it is cheap and ub3r reliable and not reliant on your broadband line which can be big benefits. On the other hand the modern way is cloud everything and I get that. But what i don't get is why "force cloud" in areas where a server in a cuboard would be easier and better? It seems once people decide to go cloud they force themselves to go cloud no matter how unsuitable it is for, for example a local DHCP or local printing needs. Ultimatly in my 24 years expernece, my server room has been an order of magnitude more reliabile than any of the cloud systems that exist to date.

I played it when it first came out on xbox I was in a great clan and we played thousands of hours in powerplay etc then FD introduced offline mode, messed up powerplay it seemed to go downhill real fast and everyone quit. Yeh they advise on surface rust nowadays which is a load of garbage as most cars are going to have surface rust after 10-20 years. Give it all a light sand and paint over it and hey presto! -
