I think cybersecurity is going to be one of the biggest needs most schools over the next 10 years. See if you can work on some free MS and Google training too. In an ideal world you'd get some general management training as per post above. They days of doing just network and server training are kinda over that's a small (and getting ever smaller) part of the job nowadays. Be tip top on the schools safeguarding policy they's almost garunteed to ask you about that.

The whole sales pitch on that software is that it's anonymous so that pupils won't get in trouble - sounds like a bad idea to try and break that trust. Basically it would depend for me what the teacher needs the info for - if it's to find out who wrote naughty words in the toilet cubicles then my answer would be heck no. If however it's a serious safeguarding concern and a child might be in danger then I would contact whisper they must have a procedure for safeguarding any pupils highlghted by the anonymous reports.

If the chromebook looks like it's been thrown down a flight of steps then chances of you having a successfull warranty claim on a dodgy port are very low, and be careful as sometimes they'll charge you just for looking at it if it's purposeful/obvious user damage.

Theres a gamer company on facebook I see regularly that does LOADS of crazy stuff for people with super low mobilty so they can play games etc. I cant for the life remember it - I will find it tonight. //edit ah it was special effect https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/ Even if you don't want gaming stuff - If they can set up a rig so someone who can literally only move their lips, can play call of duty - then they can cater for pretty much anyone else in the world using any other software on a PC?

If you want an 86 you may want to use a non motorised stand, they are too bulky. We had a samsung manual one as a lend and it was "person height" so could fit thru doors etc.

I would just stick with the age old magic forumla of one large electric pull down screeen bolted to the wall and one large projector bolted to the ceiling so that everyone can see the screen clearly, no set up time needed or daily manitenance. I even have a dedicated PC on mine so that everythings ready to go and working - just spend 20 seconds logging on and hey presto. Wheeling around TVs all day and piddling around with HDMI converter cables is not what we should be spending our time doing.

I don't disagree. Theres a big gap in the market for some really pie hot lockdown software that ties in with fire alarm and gate/door access and doesnt cost a million dollars.

Yep. That is a big issue that I have reported to them a year ago saying it is essential for us to be able to "stop" lockdowns as well as just start them. This was their answer: It is currently not possible to cancel a message manually once it has been sent to the Agents from the Notify Console. So your only options at the moment would be to set a timer (either with auto close or user close) or without timer so the users can close whenever they wish to do so. I believe this has already been raised with our dev team as a possible enhancement, may I add your name to this request so we can keep you informed should there be any development? What we do now is sent a message out on red background when it is lockdown with the timer set to 10 mins and then send another green message when lockdown is over. Staff are instucted if thei dont see a green message yet then it is still a lockdown. Another issue with Notify that I reported and they have not done anything about is that it only shows on one screen - not all screens on a multi monitor system - so some rooms it displays o the IWB and some it doesnt depending on the monitor config/extend/duplicate settings on each PC. This is really anooying too. Overall it does A job but it doesnt really do THE job properly.

Our big ones are not too reliable any more but to be fair I went against ricoh reccomendations and kept them, rather than replacing with new on the last refresh so kinda my fault. If I were doing it again - I wouldnt bother with the pro units at all - just put 3-4 smaller colour MFD's in with booklet finishers. Ah well

Most of the refurbished suppliers like ICT direct can do third party warranty. Server hardware fails so infrequently that your much better off putting those yearly payments into buying another new server every 3 years or even just a spare chassis.

I mean who cares. It's just another nail in the coffin for moving away from SIMS to a decent modern cloud provider. If your still clinging on to that good old windows 95 interface for grim death then....well that's your fault really.
