  1. This'd be fun to know - I have a suite or two to reimage this summer and I'm not looking forward to this bit...
  2. Yes (I think it’s the same as earlier MacOS). Delete the wifi connection in the Network prefs. This will need an admin account to add back.
  3. It will probably be the route I have to take on the 150 or so PCs we’ll have left by 2025. I will try to scrap as many as possible, but we have a lot of ground to cover!
  4. Prevent referral? https://www.counterterrorism.police.uk/what-we-do/prevent/
  5. Yes, depending on the report, you can go into the Reports section, edit an existing report, and change the output format from XML to Word (docx now).
  6. Is there any time variance at all, from your local server to Microsoft’s own internet time servers? Often easiest to check with a smartphone. You don’t do something funny with DST do you?
  7. Not really. It should just work. Ours stopped updating, and needed their intervention - but the Smoothwall can potentially block it's own update site. Take a config backup, get it updated, and the restarts it does along the way should help. Swaps on ours hovers a LOT lower than yours - this can hammer device speed as it fills up, but it should be freeing up as you have plenty of RAM free.
  8. If I left SOLUS3 running for long enough, it would definitely lock up when doing a big update. Then needed a blend of server restarts and service resets to kick it back into life. I just accepted that as part of the product - it kind of worked okay otherwise. Don’t miss it though!
  9. Cheating. You’ll remember the hacks from CS 1.6 - the absolute flaming that people got, the frustration of playing on a good server when a hacker joins. Many modern games are like that, but worse, because instead of being 12 that hacker is 10, squealing and screaming, still spoiling any fun. Best advice: avoid, unless you want to sink hundreds of hours into an ultimately frustrating and non-fun gaming experience.
  10. Mixed brands of standard. Poor results with Kingston, decent with Sandisk (but not dodgy Amazon copies of either!) Eventually they fail to boot with bad sectors and won’t reformat. Biggest PITA is rebuilding, so reliability is desirable!
  11. I have 25 or so Pis in active, permanent service. They are more reliable than the bloody PCs! The SD cards, not so much [emoji28]
  12. If it's a disposable device, with fallback, I don't see the harm of using something like a Pi. Anything you can do to make it a bit more reliable is good, and obviously it needs to fit into patch and update management (which it should with this software!)
  13. My only concern would be constant small writes killing the cards, as you've mentioned. I use RPis for door control, and even then the cards will die eventually. Quality cards make a big difference, but in the chain where you've placed yours I'd definitely use an NVMe SSD. Next step - document the hell out of it, for your piece of mind and sanity if it dies and you need to rebuild it!
  14. It does it when doing copy - I see. In that case, make sure that the toner is fully seated, any sealing strip is removed from the toner (done that too many times!), the fuser is fully seated etc.
  15. Able to try a different driver? That, and printing garbled text, tend to be symptoms of the printer going “the hell did you just ask me to print?”
  16. That looks like it’s done by Chris (Simpsons artist). His stuff is mental.
  17. Running a dock instead of a wall plate means that you will have much higher gain on the signals sent to the board. Trying to do this without a docking station will likely still give you reliability issues. You could mount a dock further along the signal chain, with a USB-C wall plate, but this reduces the reliability as more joins in the cables are introduced. Basically, my advice is to use a docking station.
  18. That username looks encrypted, and it probably wasn’t before, so they’ve forgotten to add the decryption to the PHP for that page. Easy fix if so. Good that they’re encrypting more data. The next issue could also be affected by encryption, as it may be doing a compare between unencrypted and encrypted data, and can only compare them once uploaded. Can’t see a way around that.
  19. ADModify.NET may be able to do it for you, ancient as it is. Still does a lot of bulk work for me.
  20. The first Mad Max film. I’ve never highly rated it, but want to work through to Fury Road (which I love) watching them with my parents. Aussie slang is bonkers, glad we had subtitles on!
  21. Yes, you can just stop/disable the KMS service. You’d need to leave it in this state for the full lifetime of the longest activation period (180 days? Something like that) or you can just turn that server off for now. The objects in DNS and DHCP will do no harm for now.
  22. Somebody got paid for that. I hope it wasn’t much.
  23. BGInfo, same as other PCs. If you have some time and inclination, why not?
  24. Yes, using VAMT. Not used it for years - was a right rigmarole which now isn’t necessary with AD. It may well help you out with this job though.
  25. AD activation is so good and so simple - do you definitely need to bother? Can you transition to the last keys to that and just kill the server and service entirely? Otherwise, worth in-place upgrading? Should work fine as long as the server does little else.
