Hi All, I recently designed a new desktop background for all curriculum computers. I created it as 1280x1024 because most of our screens are that size. However we do have a few classrooms with widescreen monitors. My question is, how do I set different desktop backgrounds depending on screen resolution? We are using bginfo and a script at the moment. Any help would be great. Cheers Scott

Hi, I'm having an issue with SOME user's backgrounds not loading when they log on, it just loads a blue screen with a little x in the top left corner. It seems to affect a few random users, despite rebuilding their profiles. I have tried to delete one of their profiles too, and copy a working one - this worked for one user, but not for another :| Any idea's? Not too important as the background they're meant to get is $hit anyway.

Hi all, So.. some of us are still using versions of Windows 10 that don't support changing the login screen wallpaper. I have been tirelessly trying to find ways to change this wallpaper. Everything from reg keys to file replace policies to third party software. The closest I have gotten so far is using 'Windows 10 Login Image Changer' as it allows you to save the .pri file that contains the updated configuration with the new wallpaper... BUT, for some reason this .pri file only supports Windows 10 10240 (we are running 1511) so when you replace the file, the login screen breaks. If you use the software to replace the .pri file however it works fine, just not manually, so not sure on that one. The path to the file that contains the information is 'C:\Windows\SystemResources\Windows.Ui.Logon\' and then the 'Windows.Ui.Logon.pri' file is the one that needs editing. I am praying that somebody here knows more than I do and is able to edit/replace this file successfully without breaking the log in screen. If you do, the many wonders of a customisable login screen await you and me and many others will be very grateful. PLEASE HELP.

Morning All, So i am now getting bored of the current logon background and i am looking for better ideas than mine. What is your logon background?

Bit of a weird one but I was wondering if anyone has designed some custom server backgrounds for their VMs? 😂 Was just going through all our VMs and thought they looked a bit bland. I've added BGinfo as a start but it would be nice to see anyone else's designed something for their org? I might put a nice lockup together in Photoshop with our logo and the server's purpose (e.g Print server). Might even make a festive one and deploy it via GPO.

Hi All, We are now a Windows 7 majority site and it all works brilliantly except the desktop background deployment. Currently we are using bginfo.exe and it doesn't deploy the first time a person logs on, they need to log off and log back on the same computer for it to deploy. I have tried Group Policy and I get the usual black background problem. What method do you use? Any help would be good. Thanks

Not a problem, just a bit odd. This is my GMail background today: Finger/other blocking the lens, perhaps. Browser/OS:

Hi, I've been following Edugeek for years, but this is my first post. We are using Windows 10 LTSB enterprise 1607 for the bulk of our PCs and are greeted with a blue screen at login on recently deployed computers. We have recently updated our deployment image (just the standard image with updates embedded in the WIM file from WSUS to speed up deployment for MDT). The PCs this image has been deployed on show the blue login screen, the PCs with the old image (all the same updates from the same WSUS server applied over time) show the correct logon background. We also have a couple of office PCs on enterprise 1803 with all updates from WSUS in the WIM file and these also show the login background correctly. The new image PCs show the correct location for the logon background in rsop and the registry but for some reason it doesn't apply. We have tried things posted elsewhere on here such as taking ownership of folders to change permissions and we have tried copying the windows.login.ui.pri file from a pc with the old image to no avail. We don't think the issue relates to group policy as it successfully applies on all other images but have tried both UNC and local paths for the image. Does anyone know a fix for this issue? The school colours aren't blue (and don't want to open the logon colour can of worms as that appears even worse than the logon background) Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I was wondering if there was a way to change the background when MDT is doing the Post - Install part of the task sequence?? I have a very professional one for the boot image but I feel it would look just that bit better if it could continue to the post install stage of apps and updates, is this possible?? Kind Regards Jack

Hi I have deployed a gpo for the background image of all staff machines. The only problem is that when the laptops leave the network the background goes to black. Is there any way to change this? The background is on the server, how would I overcome this? Thanks
