About cdwyer

  1. Brill thanks for this I’ll give it a try Monday.
  2. Hi guys, A strange one that’s been reported to me. When one of our users tries to save a file, whether it be new or editing an existing one, sometimes it automatically fills in the ‘save name as’ with a previously existing file. So for example, If I have a document called ‘document 23’ in my home folder and I start a new document, upon trying to save that document, instead of asking you to input a new name, it fills the box in with ‘document 23’ and overwrites the other document. This has caused the user to inadvertently save over documents with new documents. Anyone heard of this? Cheers!
  3. Unfortunately, the hunt for a solution continues. Uninstalling IE11 now means that the reports will not print to PDF (as they use IE11) even with Google Chrome installed, it will not use it as an alternative. The most annoying thing about this is that Office XML Handler is the default but SIMS still refuses to use it.
  4. Yes I do, Office 2019 is installed on the server. So one of the above methods half worked. I uninstalled Internet Explorer 11 and now when you run the reports it asks you to save and open (doesn’t let you open directly as it should do) even though Office XML handler is the default. It will do for now, but ultimately I’ll need it to operate the same as the local version to convince staff it’s a good idea!
  5. This is another method I never even thought of, whether that would then default it to office XML handler I don’t know, I’ll have a play tomorrow. Thank you.
  6. Okay brilliant, thanks. I assumed that it would be a similar situation to standard machines whereby the users have their own default app associations and I’d need to specify for them somehow (hence why I used an default app association file) but if it works without that will make my life a whole lot easier!
  7. Hi everyone, I have recently moved SIMS on to a remote server and we now run it as a remote app. We have an issue whereby xml files from SIMS open in internet explorer instead of Office XML Handler. I have deployed an appassociations.xml file to the servers specifying the default program but this hasn't helped. Does anyone know if there is a way to specify default programs for remote apps? Thank you in advance!
  8. Hi there, I have installed the SISRA Analytics plug-in for Excel but it will not show in the bar therefore our user cannot access it. If I go into the addins it is there and is not disabled. Does anyone know why an addin may not show or even better anyone who has had a problem with this particular SISRA addin and resolved it? Many thanks
  9. Strangest thing is, I have successfully replaced the file using GPO’s. if I open it in a hex editor it shows the updated string, but still doesn’t show on the login screen. This is with the en-GB version of the file only. en-US works flawlessly!
  10. Brilliant thanks. I have already built the majority of the machines unfortunately but if I can at least have it in the task sequence then I can slowly rebuild the machines and have it corrected going forward. I look forward to your guide!
  11. Hi there, Just wanted to ask if anyone managed to get the en-GB version of the file working and how? as this is the exact issue i'm having. Any advice would be MASSIVELY appreciated. Thank you.
  12. I have had an absolute nightmare! So, for the last few years I have successfully changed the 'Other User' text on the login screen to something more fitting for my workplace. I have built a new Windows 10 image and deployed it and was presented with the option to set the Display Language (which I do not normally see when imaging) Instinctively I have set en-GB on most of the machines, but I noticed the 'Other User' text would not replace with my edited file (credprovhost file) (I created one for both the en-GB and en-US folders in System32 so should have covered both Display Languages) I accidentally selected en-US on one of the imaged machines and low and behold, 'Other User' was replaced with my edited string. Tried on a few more and yep, carries on working! SO now i'm stuck. I can't find a way to change the default display language globally (tried a script and it didn't work) and I can't get text to change when using en-GB as the display language (even though the string has changed when I check it with a hex editor!) My question is, has anyone else successfully resolved this issue? does anyone know if I am missing something? Windows can't be using the credprovhost.dll.mui file within en-GB because I have replaced it and the string still shows, so it must be pulling it from somewhere else! I hope this made sense and I would REALLY appreciate any help. Thank you!
  13. Thank you very much for this, I will go away and have a look at everything you have highlighted!
  14. Hi all, I am trying to add a button to my website that allows customers to 'subscribe' to our calendar. Currently, the button just downloads the .ics file and adds the events in our calendar to the customers own calendar but doesn't automatically update when we add new events. Has anyone successfully added a 'subscribe' button that will actually grant customers access to our calendar where they will receive live updates? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
  15. I have tried the reg key which doesn't appear to be working unfortunately, do you know off the top of your head what the method was using GPO?
