Also consider that in some cheap cash-in-hand jobs the whole lot will get dumped in a layby at 2am. You'll want a disposal certificate/invoice, even of garden waste. If it's all legit then it sounds reasonable. I would always advocate for keeping trees unless they put the house at risk (or the public) but trimming them can greatly improve the light levels and canopy height.
-
Any tree felling/trimming involved, or just bushes and shrubs? Good access for removal of waste? It does sound fair from a labour perspective potentially, but there are a lot of variables.

Arguably, 40 year old tech!

BenQ GW2283 or similar, but pick carefully as some of their lowest models have external PSUs.

What do you enjoy? No good recommending something you’ll hate, but what do you want to get out of it - general fitness? What equipment and space will you have available?

I had similar with an old HP G6 - it wasn’t stable on 2022. Got it running on 2019 (it’s a replica Hyper-V host) but it’s ancient so its days are numbered.

Hill reps with a friend for the bank holiday, no usual Monday circuits so used the glorious weather. ~400m, varying incline, bloody hard! 4 of them was enough for me!

I have found Salamander to be superb. Support is very good if you don’t try to do any reconfiguration in September - a bad idea anyway - get it done now if you can. Small tweaks and changes can be made yourself if you know what you’re doing. There are some things I’ve had to work out, but now having out Net2 also set up on it is a big help.

Just spend a bit more on buying good external drives. I've bought some cheapies that had decent drives inside the enclosures, but the USB interface units were terrible and unreliable.

Is there any point installing Google Chrome anymore?
3s-gtech replied to Noxid_w's topic in Windows 11
Edge only here, but we never went to Chrome (IE11 was awesome of course). I like it to use, I have my emails open in Edge but I’ve used Firefox for over 20 years so that’s my own main browser. Choice is good, but most of our users want fewer complications and clutter so that wins. Not happy with how ad driven Edge or Chrome either are, but Chrome more so.- 20 replies

[22h2] Machines stuck at Applying Printer Policy during logon
3s-gtech replied to neonetman's topic in Windows 10
Using GPP, if I have a printer assigned to a room and the printer is offline (or crashed, thank you HP P2055DN!) logon takes 20 minutes plus. Seriously irritating, especially when the teacher turned it off to save power! Not sure how I can fix that from a GPP perspective - scripting could probably have a timeout. -
In theory, you could integrate that to be automatic by using a relay from your lockdown alarm to the Raspberry Pi. It's something I'm reluctant to homebrew too much due to the liability - I want our system to email staff automatically and that should be fairly simple. Should.
-
If we don't message/communicate with them, they'll find out anyway and be VERY cross. Experience.
-
A distinct lockdown bell, that staff and students are well versed in; A procedure in place - e.g. lock classroom doors, students to put phones away, etc; Technical procedures - engage all maglocks with no override other than fire, email to staff, messages to parents; A recognised bell for the end of a lockdown, and staff duties at this point; SLT procedures - call the police, run bravely into harm’s way, send someone else bravely into harm’s way, or other responsibilities It’s that kind of thing. Our policy is being updated so we’ll be going through all this again. The bell to notify and the practising with the students are the really important ones. Remember that a fire alarm always trumps everything too.
-
While it's inspiring, it really is a big commitment and mental battle to run that far - especially when not coming from a prior experience of long distance running! If you're keen, start with a couch to 5k or similar - mainly because there will be different grades to come in to, but also as it's a great way to network and build up a running group. Group support makes it so much easier and more fun.
-
I have a lot of older gen ones, 3 and 2. I like them. I got one gen 4 in for a student that would be standalone and not on our G Suite - I don't think I'd want to buy a class set though as they seem worse than the previous models (which have 5 and 7 year update lifespans left respectively).
-
Does other online stuff work on it, like traffic info? Either way, you’re probably into dealer territory to look at it, though their prices for diagnostics are going bloody silly.
-
Is the CA showing is trusted when you look at the cert details?
-
Yes I realise that - I mean put the 12v battery on a trickle charger so that it doesn't discharge while the update runs.
-
Are you able to leave it on a trickle charge plugged in to the mains? Doesn’t sound right though - it shouldn’t take that long to update.
-
Indeed. Just look at the products that were going to do just that, and didn’t gain traction. ARM architecture in Apple machines was a big change, but in recent times two of the games consoles have switched to AMD’s PC architecture. Anyone remember Larrabee that was going to break the ATI and Nvidia wars?
-
Where did it install to? You may be able to change their permissions on the application folder or even a particular file in there.
-
Yup, looks like the finest quality steel was used in that disc.

Why are the scam call centres even bothering with the Microsoft ones any more? Surely that’s a seriously diminishing domestic market? “Hello we’re calling from Microsoft. Is that ?” “No. We don’t have a computer.” “Any portable devices, tablets, iPads?” “No.” “*snottily* We’re putting a block on all of your devices.” Hangs up. Cretinous ******* *****. Get a proper job.
