⭐ Vertical tabs have finally arrived in Google Chrome! 👀 I've been using the Arc and Zen browsers for a while now and I found the vertical tabs feature really cool. Whilst Google Chrome isn't my main brownser, it's great to see it now available as an option in Google Chrome, especially for those times when I have to use it! 🥳 To enable this feature straight away: 1️⃣ Make sure your version of Google Chrome is up to date 2️⃣ Browse to chrome://flags 3️⃣ Search for Vertical Tabs 4️⃣ Set to Enabled 5️⃣ Relaunch Google Chrome 6️⃣ Right click on the tab bar 7️⃣ Select "Move tabs to the side" ⬅️ You can also collapse the tab bar for a minimal look and view more of the webpage.

Thinking about our summer re-build and I'm considering not installing Google Chrome anymore. Microsoft Edge works so well now, it provides the same browsing experience as Chrome. Gone are the days when you needed both "just in case" it didn't work in Edge. I find Edge easier to manage with GPOs as well. So far, the only argument I've had from my LT lead, with why he thinks we should keep it, is "it provides a choice to students and staff", but I don't see the point in that. What do we all think?

We're using Chromium OS on USB pens on some of our old netbooks. Although, some websites are not working correctly as the images are not appearing. Also, when we try to login with a Microsoft account the sign on the page goes blank.Any ideas to fix this? These computers are not managed by Google's manager or anything. Just individually setup.

Hi there, Does anyone know how to enable adding bookmarks in Google Chrome Enterprise through GPO? we want to enable this feature so that both students and staff can add bookmarks via Google Chrome without having to import their favorites from a different browser. If someone could let me know how to enable this setting, that would be brilliant!

Hey Guys, We use GPOs to manage google chrome on our network. We currently have the Downloads folder set to the users home drives. However we want to change it so chrome asks where you want to save it each time you download something. Is there a GPO for this and what is it? Thanks for your help. Regards Harry.

Hi We have deployed Google Chrome and are having problems when some students try to use it. We have to delete the users profile and it seems to work. Does anyone else have any problems with this or a solution? Thanks

We are experiencing issues on our network with Google Chrome and Shockwave Flash. Google Chrome is deployed to all PCs on our network, and we are using the latest ADM files to push out the necessary settings. All PCs are Windows 7 64-bit (RM CC4), and we also push out Adobe Flash Player as an MSI. All has been working well until last week when users have randomly been getting the error message: Could not load Shockwave Flash I have found two potential workarounds, which involve either deleting/renaming the \User Data\PepperFlash\11.9.900.117 folder OR browsing to chrome://plugins and disabling the "PPAPI (out-of-process)" plugin that's pointing to the same location (the top one depicted in the image below). However we need a permanent solution to the problem, as the folder appears to be getting recreated. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? Is it possible to disable a specific plugin through GPO - without completing disabling Adobe Flash Player? We currently have the following ADM settings applied that might be relevant: Set user data directory: ${roaming_app_data}\Google\Chrome\User Data Set disk cache directory: ${local_app_data}\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default Allow running plug-ins that are outdated: Disabled Always runs plug-ins that require authorisation: Disabled Specify a list of disabled plug-ins: * Specify a list of enabled plug-ins: Enabled... Adobe Flash Player Adobe Shockwave Player Java™ Native Client There are many other settings, but I'm not sure if they're relevant. I have tried disabling the last two settings ("specify a list of disabled plug-ins" and "specify a list of enabled plug-ins") but that doesn't appear to help - other than allowing the user to manually disable the specific ploblematic plugin. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi We use Google Chrome for Business. Everything runs fine with XP - 2008R2 domain using ADMX files. (All latest versions) However when setting User Data Directory - it doesn't work. I've tried this to profile/outside profile/a folder in the user home drive. All fails. Any suggestions welcome! James

Hello everybody, I'm using Chrome for enterprise, and we have around 1000 computers use it. I've use the Administrative Template (http://dl.google.com/update2/enterprise/GoogleUpdate.adm) to deploy Chrome via GPO. I don't want 1000 clients auto download the update from internet whenever Google release new version. I've tried use the Google Update ADM template (http://www.google.com/support/installer/bin/answer.py?answer=146164)and set a local server for client download (inside my company) but it still not work. What I've set for Google Update ADM template: ----------------------------------- - Preference + Auto-update check period overide: Enable - Proxy Server: + Choose how to specify proxy server setting: Enable-Use fixed proxy server + Address or URL of proxy server: \\my local server - Applications + Allow installation default: Enable + Update policy override default: Enable + Google Chrome: . Allow installation: Enable . Update policy override: Enable --------------------------------------------- And the error: "Update failed (error: 7)An error occurred while checking for updates: Installation failed. Please try again. Error code = 0x80040813." Please advice and any answer very appreciate Thank you,

Hello, New user here...glad to join the forum, definitely looks like an interesting forum! And I apologize in advance if this is the wrong subforum for this question. Anyway, I've been put in charge of deploying Chrome and my workplace and am trying to figure out the best way to deal with roaming profiles. I've downloaded the Chrome GPO templates and for the most part I've been able to get the browser to do what I want, but I have a few issues. 1. We have user folders mapped to a network drive and I'd like for users to get their bookmarks, settings, etc. if they switch computers. I looked around the Chrome templates and there IS an option to change the user data directory, but from what I'm reading on the Internet it's risky to store Chrome profiles on a network drive, since profiles aren't necessarily backwards compatible, though I don't know how much it causes problems in practice. Was wondering if anyone on a network that uses redirected/roaming profiles on their network has any input on the best way to set this up. I don't think having users use Google Sync is a real option, as that would just be another password for users to remember and would just increase helpdesk volume. I'm thinking of maybe setting up some login script to copy the Chrome profile to the network drive at logoff, and then copy it from the drive to the user's appdata folder on login...but I'm not exactly an expert at coding so I dunno how feasible this is. 2. The other issue is that I'm looking for some sort of way to sync bookmarks between IE and Chrome (which will be the default). There is an option in the template to automatically import favorites from Chrome the first time the user opens Chrome, but that seems to be a one time deal. I'd like to find a way to set things up so that any bookmarks added in one browser are automatically added to the other. If not right away then maybe at logon or logoff. So far I haven't seen a way to do that. Any input is appreciated, and please feel free to direct me to a different subforum if this isn't the appropriate one. Thanks!

We have just migrated our staff shared area to Google Drive (approx 300GB of data) but now everytime anyone uses google drive on chrome is hogs the CPU and RAM until the machine becomes unusable. These are not low spec PCs (Core i5, 4GB RAM) This is happening off site as well as in the Academy so its not our filtering solution causing issues (just had a new one of those as well). Once you close Google Drive all returns to normal. Has anyone come across this and found out why. I have tried it on IE and firefox and while they are not as bad it still uses alot of system resources. This is happening on Windows 7 and 8 PCs and with both 32bit and 64bit installs of Chrome We are on the 2nd day since the migration and i can see mutiny on the way soon

I had the pleasure of being at Google HQ last week and discussing the buzz around Android apps coming to Chrome, very exciting stuff, did you know: The expected public release of Android for Chrome will be later this week and will be available first on Acer Chromebook R11/C738T, Asus Chromebook Flip (C100P) and Google Chromebook Pixel (2015). With more expected later in the year -https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6401474 did you know: When you visit the Chrome web store, you'll be able to browse Android apps collection and find apps such as Evernote and Vine https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6088175?hl=en-GB did you know: If your school has developed its own android app you can port it onto Chromebooks using the App Runtime for Chrome (ARC) https://developer.chrome.com/apps/getstarted_arc for more details I've actually started playing around with some of the apps on my own ASUS Flip and I have to say I am very impressed with it so far. Tell me about your experience below Darrell Raynard
