Hi, We have a single domain: @StAwash.xyz; this domain originated in Google (I think) then got ported into Exchange with no changes. As such, when a user signs into Google with their @StAwash account they log into the school via their Google account. When the user signs into Edge with their @StAwash account they log into the school with their Exchange account. I need it so that when they sign into their browser using their @StAwash account the bookmarks and everything will sync nicely. Preferably stored in Exchange and synced, but if it needs syncing both ways then so be it. GCDS/Password sync is already running so if it's an option in there then I win. OR If they are signed into Chrome, this automatically forces them to use the Exchange area to save their bookmarks and passwords. The beauty is that the user will not even know they are signed in, they don't need to use any credentials or anything, as the sign in has to be automatic and hidden to allow some other things to work. They are allowed to see they are signed in, but they won't be able to sign out etc. etc. Is it even remotely possible? I have a feeling it is really simple... Common questions I am bound to be asked: Why are you using two browsers? Edge is standard with Windows, easier to manage because of this, and means I don't have to use Chrome everywhere. However, Chrome is baked into the Win10 image that has been deployed EVERYWHERE. As such, Win11 onwards will be Edge only and Chrome will become a distant memory. Why do you need them synced I feel like it will make my life easier when they swap over to Win11 and lose the ability to use Chrome. But in reality, if it can't be done then so be it. Why not uninstall Chrome from each machine People don't like little changes, and will likely rebel. A big change like going to Win11 convinces them that this is for the greater good. Also can't be bothered with the arguments, pleading, and setting something up in the GPO. Why not use the ...onmicrosoft.com account you get with each Exchange account? Turns out that isn't possible due to Google requiring you to use Google account.

Hello, Is it possible with Firefox/gpo to allow bookmarks to be saved in the users home drive? We have IE favourites set with folder redirection and chrome has gpo profile path applied. Is there a similar setting for firefox or is the only way to use roaming profiles for app data?

Hello, New user here...glad to join the forum, definitely looks like an interesting forum! And I apologize in advance if this is the wrong subforum for this question. Anyway, I've been put in charge of deploying Chrome and my workplace and am trying to figure out the best way to deal with roaming profiles. I've downloaded the Chrome GPO templates and for the most part I've been able to get the browser to do what I want, but I have a few issues. 1. We have user folders mapped to a network drive and I'd like for users to get their bookmarks, settings, etc. if they switch computers. I looked around the Chrome templates and there IS an option to change the user data directory, but from what I'm reading on the Internet it's risky to store Chrome profiles on a network drive, since profiles aren't necessarily backwards compatible, though I don't know how much it causes problems in practice. Was wondering if anyone on a network that uses redirected/roaming profiles on their network has any input on the best way to set this up. I don't think having users use Google Sync is a real option, as that would just be another password for users to remember and would just increase helpdesk volume. I'm thinking of maybe setting up some login script to copy the Chrome profile to the network drive at logoff, and then copy it from the drive to the user's appdata folder on login...but I'm not exactly an expert at coding so I dunno how feasible this is. 2. The other issue is that I'm looking for some sort of way to sync bookmarks between IE and Chrome (which will be the default). There is an option in the template to automatically import favorites from Chrome the first time the user opens Chrome, but that seems to be a one time deal. I'd like to find a way to set things up so that any bookmarks added in one browser are automatically added to the other. If not right away then maybe at logon or logoff. So far I haven't seen a way to do that. Any input is appreciated, and please feel free to direct me to a different subforum if this isn't the appropriate one. Thanks!
