Hi all, Tweaking a few bits at a new place that very much needs some tweaking and hit a snag. Must have come across the same thing (and conquered it previously) but don't recall and not having a major amount of immediate luck with it. Trying to save in eg Excel (Office 2019) and opening the Browse option brings up the following: Now I do believe this is related to restricting access to local drives (C: especially) in Group Policy, which I have done. I'd quite like students to not get to rummage around on C: (nor other local drives) but also quite like them to save things without getting horrifying error messages. Clicking OK on it does indeed make it go away and they can indeed save, but has anyone tackled this recently enough to tell me what it might want? Thanks anyone for any help with this one.

Hi all, Hope you are well. The head at one of my schools is having a problem, where when they are working from home, and using word etc. The laptop will hang for a short amount of time. I think this is due to the mapped drives being present but of course disconnected. I have had experience in the past where this can happen. Is there anyway in GPO that the mapped drives will not create if the user is not onsite? Or would that be through a script? Thanks.

Hi All, We run a small print setup using the classic print server and GP to deploy network printers. When printing from Windows store apps (such as Photos, Snip & Sketch etc) the print queue gets jammed and the print spool files need to be manually deleted from the server so people can continue printing. I've tried updating the Ricoh PCL6 v4 drivers to the latest version and even installed directly on the machine as a test, this made no odds. I then tried installing the Ricoh print driver utility (also a Windows store app) - this didn't jam the print queue but the document failed to print all together. As far as I can tell the Windows store apps don't use the system print driver but some Microsoft generic thing which not only lacks many printing features it doesn't even work. Is there any way of making the store apps use system print drivers, or any workaround? Thanks

I am struggling with the below error when I come to re image an existing machine Lenovo e92z. I have cleaned the partition, cleared the bios. Can anybody shed a light on this for me

We've noticed our users are being shown a confirmation box on Google's home/search page that they cannot remove. It only happens on Chrome, not Edge. The message is: Google has changed some of your settings for this site (google.com) because you aren't confirmed to be over 18. To verify that you're over 18 sign in. SafeSearch on Ad personalisation on Google Search isn't available Choose 'Customise to check if your settings are right for you. Customise Got It The users cannot press either Customise or Got it, the buttons just don't do anything and the box doesn't go away, meaning they can't use Google Search. I presume this is a new feature in Chrome, so I downloaded and installed the latest ADMX templates (94.0.4606.61), to see if there are any new policies to specify these settings. After installing the policies (into domain\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions)...When I launch Group Policy Management on my workstation (Win10 Edu 21H1 x64 with RSAT 2004) and attempt to open User Configuration > Administrative Policies, I get the following error: Resource '$(string.ScreenCapture_group)' referenced in attribute displayName could not be found. File \\domain\sysvol\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\Chrome.admx, line 23, column 79 The confusing thing is that I can expand the same section when I'm connected to both our domain controllers (Server 2019) and it works. However, my colleague also experiences the same issue as me on his workstation (also Win10 Edu 21H1 x64 with RSAT 2004). I've not come across this behaviour before. I was thinking a replication issue between the two DCs, with my machine pulling the ADMX templates from the problem DC. But the fact that the policies load on both servers without issue is throwing a spanner into that theory.

Attempting to block the C Drive to students, but push OneDrive as a default. The issue is that when blocking the C drive, OneDrive also becomes blocked. there has also been no success when trying to hide the C drive, either through the GPO 'Hide these specified drives in My Computer' or through the Registry edit of 'NoDrives' (value: 4). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about the rest of you but since print nightmare we have experience inconsistent behaviour from printers where type 3 drivers don’t get mapped unless you remove the patch that is there to combat the vulnerability or upgrade to type 4. Rock and a hard place dilemma At the moment my understanding is that Microsoft recommend using type 4 drivers which is all well and good if the mfd vendor support type 4 drivers. We have a fleet of sharp printer where the only type 4 driver I can find is the UD. This restores basic functionality but comes with its own gremlins. The UD only seems to provide the most basic printing and I am receiving a lot of pressure to restore the driver despite my explanation that it is a critical security update. What’s everyone else’s opinions

Hi, Hoping you can help. A user has been given a new Laptop which is joined to the Domain just like the old. However, when logging into the new, the Files/Docs in the Documents folder do not follow and is blank. What setting am I missing for this users Documents to follow no matter which device signed into. Hope this makes sense. Thanks

Hi all, Got a strange issue luckily only affecting admins but is a massive inconvenience for us as we prefer using RSAT Tools on our desktop instead of having to remote into the server each time. Basically we launch the installer and click install and very quickly it will say Install Complete but nothing has been installed. Anyone experienced this before?

Hi All, We have an odd issue since moving to 21H1, our redirected desktop icons will vanish when users come back to their PC's - They come back of course, and after a tap of 'F5' but this is not really a solution. We have tried to set some GPO's to prevent the network cards going to sleep, but with no joy. Anyone experiencing this or a similar issue? Regards,

Are any others out there experiencing issues with Chrome crashing randomly through the day. A number of users on our network are experiencing issues where Chrome just crashes and it's been happening for a few days now. We're on Version 94.0.4606.71 Thanks in anticipation
